There are lots of people like that in society. Some people like having low skill ceiling minimum wage jobs. There is a certain comfort in that. Randall is happy with who he is while Dante isn't, but he is too much of an indecisive b***h to ever take a step forward.
This, I have had two roomates who worked entry level customer service jobs in their late 30's. I confess I would want to kill myself if stuck in the same situation but both were content with their lives. Mostly played on their computer in their spare time, were fine roommates.
I don't actually think it's the money which is the main issue (obviously still an issue) in developed countries but how other people judge you, how depressing these jobs are and how you get treated by others.
Like by 30 working a min wage job will make dating extremely difficult, you'll be working with people half your age, likely treated like shit/like a child by management, lots of coworkers will be awful people, judgement from many family members/random people/customers etc.
There was a period after college where I was working one while applying to medical school and it was so depressing and horrible it was unreal. Now I'm in medical school people treat me like a completely different person and I'm sure it only gets better once you're an attending doctor raking it in.
Hate to be the one to break it to you but I suspect the majority of people here are normies LARPing as losers. I've fricked like 5 different girls this month and go to gym/clubs daily.
>. I've fricked like 5 different girls this month and go to gym/clubs daily.

Obviously she was really fat, so it was like fricking 5 girls.
I even ran into one of my teachers from high school. I wanted to die afterwards. I eventually got fired and ended up with a better job. It's not anything special but it pays okay and I'm not dealing with the public.
Shouldn't have made you feel bad, but I get it. I ran into people that treated me like shit, but has so much better lives it kind of hurt, I got over it.

Well no one treated me too badly, it was just embarrassing. The weirdest thing was customers that would look at my name tag and then address me by my name. You have to be some kind of psychopath to act like that.

My most memorable experience with a customer was some israelite who wanted to buy a 1 pound bag of frozen blueberries, which we didn't have, and refused to buy two half pound bags and wanted to speak to the manager. It was at night so there was no manager and he got furious and left.

Nah, it wasn't really their fault. You get shitty people like that, wasn't the first time something like that happened either.I had someone chase me through a store one time just because I answered his wife question about where some chips we're. >AIN'T NO ONE TALKING TO YOU homie
And suddenly I'm in a dead run with this duded behind me thinking "This is it, I'm really about to get the shit kicked out of me for doing my job".
One of my bullies ended up making like $80,000 a year being a crane operator or some shit. I ruined my life trying to get away from my parents, and never did anything with the time I did have because I was so focused on one goal, and it ended up fricking me in the end.
A lot of people don't give a shit about any of that. For some people, shit like that is just like getting hit by rain. It just drips off them. One of the benefits of such a low skill job is that you can get away with being an butthole more. I work in a corporate environment and I wish I had the balls to confront my passive aggressive coworkers and annoying customers the way people did at my old out of high school blue collar job.
You can get away with being horrible/malicious towards your coworkers more but is that even a good thing when it's a large part of what makes min wage jobs so horrible in the first place? You can still confront people at professional jobs though obviously you have to be somewhat professional about it.
Meanwhile you have to be a complete b***h towards customers and management since you can be immediately replaced.
>You can get away with being horrible/malicious towards your coworkers more
This is one thing I've noticed about people, some work places can be so cut throat it's insane. If they want to frick with you, they will, and it doesn't matter if you didn't do anything wrong. That's just how people are, and you have to have thick skin and don't expect management to actually do something about it. They're too busy hanging around doing little to nothing and playing games on their phones in their offices. They don't care about you, and neither does yoru work place.
i rather work a minimum wage job and have a simpler life than feel like a wienersucking shoe licking slave that will probably get a stroke from so much stress, and yes the pay is good, but it's not worth it in the end
Higher end jobs are basically just sitting behind a computer. The people that call it stressful can't deal with actually having to do something time to time.

I think the most common compliant could be long work hours and it causing a work/life imbalance.
>Meanwhile you have to be a complete b***h towards customers and management since you can be immediately replaced.
I routinely told off annoying customers at my retail job and I got promoted to manager. Just shop around at different small businesses until you find an owner who isn't insane.
Most people at those jobs are over 30. They run the place. People who are in their teens and young are very few. What you're expressing is a stereotype you've accepted without giving it any actual thought. Literally most peope working fast food are 30 and above. You see teens "running" them because they work the front and not in the back where actual shit needs to be done. All you see are two morons grab asking one another near the soda fountain. But you're stupid, so you never thought about it.
Working with teens was weird, and it was weirder being looked at as the older guy that everyone shits on. Some were cool, the rest were trash but would could you expect out of people working nights at a fricking Walmart?
>
Yup, not strange to see someone gone in a week or two. Younger people seem to explore their options a lot more for obvious reasons. I've even told teens before that they didn't want to be my age and working at a grocery store. To look into college, getting a trade or certification. Not sitting there making chump change being a stocker or fricking around in the backroom.
Boomers simultaneously expect only teenagers to work food/retail jobs and therefore get paid shit, yet also feel entitled to have those services available 24/7 with no staff shortages.
How did you manage to misquote me using copy & paste?

homie, have you been outside? There are many middle-aged people working shit jobs. Do you think everyone suddenly becomes a successful professional or business owner when they hit 30?
Be careful, kid, reality could hit you really hard.
I'm 36 and I'm working for an average salary (for my region) in a non-managerial role. It's nice, it's low stress, low volume. I've gotten comments (from women, of course) that I'm not ambitious enough because I don't want to go into more well-paid positions or become a manager. But why? To make some woman temporary attracted to me? I don't really care about starting a family, so it really seems pointless.
>Were Dante and Randal moronic
I mean yeah, but not because of their job
They didnt even understand that a "cross-species erotica" show would not involve some hot woman
what's wrong with McJob?
it gives you money to buy your basic needs
you don't really need more money, unless you plan to have children, or marrying a woman
Yup, in the 90's early 00's you pitied these people along with society taking a shit on them. Then time passed, COVID came around and people realized how needed they actually were. They do deserve respect, having to deal with a shit job and pay they wake up to go to everyday.
All this just reminds me that getting out of customer service was the biggest god send of my life. Having to deal with geriatric moronic boomers was such a shit show.
For me it was just annoying dealing with all the thieves but it was a fun time working with a friend. It's also the best way to meet women besides being a medical worker of some kind
Customer service really makes you realize that every single worst possible stereotype actually does exist. I've seen everything from mushed mouth mumbling Black folk who were hardly conscious beings with their pants halfway on their thighs to hillbilly hicks barefoot to schizocrack heads. People are so insanly moronic.

>Were Dante and Randal moronic
No, back then you could have a decent life working a McJob. A decent life meaning having your own place, a beater car, and having some money left over for weed / movies. Sadly israelites were pissed off that white people were allowed to lead simple, easy lives, and that's why everything sucks these days.
I watched Clerks for the first time in years and it was actually pretty good. I dont get why a sequel would be made years later other than a cash in. Dante seems to have learned his lesson at the end of the movie and matured, but I guess thats all out the window and they are both stuck working at McDonalds as they approach 40 now?
my first job was data entry >clock in at 9 >get out at 5 >listened to dozens of audiobooks because there's no need whatsoever to communicate with anyone >everyone is chill because there's no deadlines or whatever >only entry barrier is to have a pulse, know how to spell well and know how to use a computer >knowing how to use any sort of keybind will put you ahead of 90% of your boomer mom coworkers in term of productivity >pay wasn't too bad >you can transition to admin job pretty easily once you can show people you're not a frickup
I get it
Kevin Smith should be stuck in a Mcjob
Clerks was a fluke
Everyone knows that.
Yes, everything Kevin did afterwards was just a downhill trajectory.
