The widely agreed upon examples everyone loves to use tend to be vidya. Borderlands, nu-Saints Row, Forspoken, it's almost entirely gen X and the latter even had boomers on its writing team. Indie games is the area where you'll find actual millennial writing.
In movies and TV the iconic example is obviously Joss Whedon who's right on the border between gen X and baby boomers.

That's just how these kinds of generational conversations work. When you're lumping people of vague age groups together by various trends you're going to inevitably get a lot of grey areas, where this sort of thing happens.
Then there's the issue of interest versus achievement.
Media trends are the product of middle-aged creators making for young consumers, which begs the question of what "counts" as part of a given generation anyways. Is a generation defined by what it enjoyed when it was young and hip i.e. the things made by the generation before them, or is it defined by what people actually in the generation produced i.e. the things made for the generation after them?
Ultimately there is no real definition of "millennial" anything, and any working definition we have has a lot of spillover. It's the same as every other generation, really.

Because Gen X are losers who so desperately want to latch onto anything millennial so they can be cool and hip. Ever wonder why there has been such a push recently to not define below the age of 70 as “old”?

        Anonymous

Gen X didn't have the demographic pull but they always had the culture and they're addicted to being on the forefront of any trends.

Yep. I know a 50 something year old dude. Recently divorced with no kids. Only ever hangs out with 20 and 30 something year olds so he can still be cool. Reinvents his political leanings every couple years so they are always in line with whatever bullshit the Democrats are pushing. At some point it just becomes sad to see someone so desperate to cling to youth. You’re supposed to become a sage and guide the youth later in life, not trying to compete with them.

Ellis was the absolute worst choice they could have possibly made to write a Castlevania series. The franchise has some dark themes, but overall it is very dignified, hopeful, and has that regal, gothic style going for it. Then they bring in a guy who delights in dragging everything through the mud and being as cynical as possible. He thought the guy voicing Hector had such a rich and dignified voice, so he thought it would be just great to have him perform being raped. They don't even beat Dracula, he kills himself and turns into a disgusting slime thing before dying that terrifies Alucard. What the frick were they thinking hiring this absolute homosexual. I'm glad it's over.

It's just painful that they are incapable of writing a good, normal story. It always has to have some artificial layer of artifice, some subversive element, some "quirk". They have no idea how to subtly weave, for example, a political or social message naturally into the plot in a way which ironically might actually change someone's mind or help them think about an issue from a different point of view. It is blatant and bald-faced and even the gayest of gays are starting to get tired of it. Surely with literally EVERY new project flopping they will have to realize this shit is not working?

Millenials and Zoomers are clearly defined because of the rise of the internet in relation to their age. Gen X is a thoroughly worthless generation in every way though.

          Anonymous

GenX was originally called GenX because they were ill-defined and seemed aimless. Originally Millennials were called GenY because, initially, they showed similar behavioral patterns to GenX, but as they got older evolved into the "Millennials" we know today. GenZ is called GenZ and Gen Alpha Gen Alpha because, by then, the meme of "X and Y" had started and sociologists (and marketing departments) decided to just run with it. what I meant is that the existence of black or gay characters or interracial relationships in and of itself doesn't matter, there is a way to portray those things well. but as you said, sacrificing internal consistency for tokenism is indeed cringe

I'll never understand gays like this, either. They fail to understand what woke actually refers to, so they just apply it to any instance of progressive thinking. Protestants marrying Christians isnt woke. The first interracial kiss on television isn't woke. Conversely, enforcing a state of constant black male/white female relationships in media is woke. Forcing trannies everywhere is woke. Adding new symbols on the pride flag is woke. Adding more letters into the LGB sphere is woke. Modifying the handicapped symbol to change it to a human figure in a wheelchair going at incredibly high speeds is woke.

It can sorta kinda work if it's just MTV, and maybe The Simpsons. But then Family guy, Marvel, and every tv show and movie took after it. A bit like how The Daily Show was fine as it was, but then every single Talk Show became a Daily Show clone. If all you have is cynisms and irony, then you can't believe in anything. Ultimately nihilism is self-defeating.

Whedon and Tarantino ruined movies, then James Gunn and Nolan came along and took a shit on the corpse of movies. These people are the pillars that the entire movie industry is based on. Snappy unfunny dialogue that idiots think is well written, witty and ''realistic.'' Nolan differs a little because his work is supposed to be serious, but it's that same style and it's unintentionally funny so it might as well be Whedon style quips.
I rewatched some old movies recently like the original Planet of the Apes and it just made me depressed. Seeing a movie with actual good dialogue where the writer takes it seriously. The dialogue is actually realistic and flows nicely, no out of place jokes and the few jokes that are there fit naturally and are something that the character would say. Like when one of the apes tells George that he looks somehow less intelligent after shaving. If that movie was made today George would look at the camera and go ''UMMM that just happened!'' and the ape would go ''SHUCKS NOW I'VE MADE IT AWKWARD!'' and someone would get kicked in the balls.
    Cinema is dead.

Whedon's Gen-X and he kind of ruined dialogue. It originally started with Buffy and the whole joke was ditzy Valley girls fighting serious threats so that's why they talked like that. Scream picks up the self-aware irony. Firefly was HUGE with b***hes and spread the virus. The final nail was Avengers which meant it so that EVERYONE is trying to copy Marvel quips now if they want $$$.

Nolan has the worst written dialogue out of any mainstream movie, worse than Marvel shit, worse than the worst reviewed episode of Buffy.
It takes the weird Whedon type of quippy dialogue, but removes the attempted humor and replaced it with attempted clever wit. Nolan movies have Whedon style of dialogue but it's robotic and pretentious. The reading of the lines is just insane, there is no improvisation or rewrite of the script to make it sound more natural and flow better, Nolan will not allow any deviation from the script and only allows a couple of takes. All the dialogue is read exactly how it's written. If a character cuts off another character the script just has the cut in that line so the actor doesn't have a natural place to get cut off by the other actor, they'll just read a line that abruptly ends and there's going to be a second of awkward silence as the other actor realizes this is the line where he is supposed to cut off the other guy with his quip.
Nolan tries the unfunny quips but he is devoid of any humor so the quips are are just stiff and too literal, like that line where Bane says something along the lines ''Did you come to watch the city burn?'' and Batman replies with his epic quip ''No, I didn't'' that's played off like he said the most badass shit ever.
Nolan is like an autistic kid trying to imitate Joss Whedon. He is extremely amateurish and incompetent. The only time his dialogue worked was with the Joker because the weird robotic style added to his character and made it seem like he had these terrible cringy lines memorized and ready to go. They just don't make sense the way Nolan writes them and the responses come off as non-sequiturs a lot of time.

Younger millennials who didn't grow up in 1990's don't have anything special about them. It's most 'topical' South Park episodes tbh. Half the problem with the show is that they're just trying to be the first to comment on something, but they usually don't actually have much of a defined stance, so it just tapers off into a non-committal nothingness, usually just a dumb farce where people fight

Obviously they weren't speaking proper modern english in 11th century Britain, but they at least tried to sound dignified and an approximation of their status. But now they try to make all the cast sound hip and cool by modern standards, so quips and snarkiness which is totally out of place. Wildly ridiculous with some of the recent films set in the 20's where they spoke understandable modern English just differently without any modern slang.

Those two 20's iflms that bombed last year are a good example.

Don’t forget you always have to take up most of the screen time in a video as the ‘host’. As if they’re more interesting than the actual topic. I’ve had to make an unspoken rule that if the person or their avatar is prominent on the thumbnail that it’s best to avoid it. There’s a few exceptions but it’s working well in avoiding homosexualry.

      t. suicidal lobster rights activist

Irony is just a shield for nihilism and cynisism. It's to both deflect criticism and to ensure that even your story isn't being serious. "huh. heroic people? Totally silly am i right?" because their inherent nihilism prevents them from having ideals. And simple fairy tale or heroic morality seems so quaint and stupid to them they have to attack it even if they're writing it.

Can you point out some hyperviolence that's disconnected from the narrative? Cause hyperviolence predates moving pictures entirely so I feel like you just made up the "disconnected from the narrative" bit to sound smart.
    >outdated pop culture references
All pop culture references are outdated by the time they're written. By the time they're spoken and recorded they've become artifacts.
    >attempts at tackling topical social issues that don't actually take a stance or ends up being contradicted later
I remember a scene from NYPD Blue Andy Sipowicz is talking about how 'hood brothers' should be racially profiled because he's never had a white guy randomly pull a gun on him.
He ends up racially profiling a black guy, lo and behold, dude has a gun.
Black Guy says he's carrying a gun because a white guy has been walking around a black neighborhood threatening to shoot and kill Black folk, so he bought an illegal gun for protection.
Later in the episode Andy sees a white guy and profiles him; turns out it was the white guy terrorizer who pulls a gun the moment Andy mentions he's police.
So, again, tale as old as time.

I've seen this more with zoomers. I play some online games with Cinemaphile morons and these sub-humans have the same exact story. Every single moron from here is a leftist zoomer who explains why they became a leftist by saying they had overly religious parents. When proded on what they mean by overly religious parents, every single one of them says that they were taken to church a couple of times and that one time their mom told them that their clothes were too revealing or asked them about some concerning behavior. These zoomers will turn on their parents and go full leftist LGBTPPPPP+ over the most petty shit. Another extremely common theme with these people is how they will go off on sex education and how school didn't educate them on sex. When proded on what they mean by that they say that they had sex education but it only taught them basics of how it works and how to protect themselves from STDs and unwanted pregnancies.
The zoomers are just an insane breed of ''people.'' They just don't make any sense. These people are ready to destroy the world because daddy told them the satan shirt was cringe and teacher didn't teach them anal fisting.

        Anonymous

It's simple. These people were public schooled and probably had parents that didn't give a shit about them other than portraying surface level Christianity to them in the least loving way possible. Add in unrestricted internet access and you're basically begging your children to become troonys.

          Anonymous

When you see what these people are like you understand their parents. These ''people'' are unlovable. There's something in the water and the public schooling that fricked them up so hard that their parents can't even pretend to love them.
When you actually listen to their stories you quickly find out that it's all bullshit. They don't come from religious homes, their parents never forced their religion on them. It's fiction. I've heard these stories thousands of times and not one of them has a story of actually being forced to do anything. These people just go crazy at the age of 12 and the parents can't do anything about it, their kid is just gone and replaced with a freak who will perceive everything as a microaggression and filter it through critical theory.

Many such cases. Lots of schizo boomer parents (think proto Q boomers) fricking their kids up by treating them at best like a fellow inmate on the prison camp of earth which is watched at all times by God almighty. I knew a kid whose parents found his Resident Evil game and where like OMG ITS LE EVIL IT EVEN SAYS SO RIGHT ON THE DISK and had to have a borderline exorcism performed right there. They also claimed to have a seen an alien in their house, which was proof of demons, because aliens actually are demons. These were grown middle class adults with jobs and cars and everything.

You're such a shit parent it's actually hilarious. Beating kids has never worked it just makes them even more of an butthole.

My kids are well behaved and I occasionally smacked them. Not many times ~5 times but it worked they stopped.

This is made up nonsense. If you look at the evidence the generations that beat their kids turned out better.
People say beating kids doesn't work like it's a proven fact because it sounds like it should be the right thing, but all the evidence shows that every generation is worse than the last.
The beatings would be useful for the simple fact that many zoomers should just be killed. The worst generation in existence needs a culling. Let people smack zoomers until most of them die.

Your parents should have beat you some more. Maybe you wouldn’t have turned into a literal wienersucking homosexual

Rather go to church than attend state sponsored globohomosexual while pretending I’m enlightened

Their composition is far more determined by their lack of a strong father figure than anything else.

      meant to quote

Has anyone ITT brought up the constant parental issues? It’s crazy how a whole generation’s identity and sexuality has been defined just because their parents forced them to pull away from globohomosexual once a week to attend church for an hour

Kind of relevant since they're next and you all hate millennials so much. Surely it's much better?

          >Kind of relevant
No it's not. Every time there is a millennial criticism post there is an anon trying to deflect to zoomers. Millennials are incredibly narcissistic and IMO are going to end up being worse then boomers when it's all said and done.
