For me, the main problem is James doesnt outsource enough. Screenwave studio should just build their own new nerd room at a studio James can drive to. Have fattie justin take care of the camera and lights and leave james to be an actor. I used to think James should just be in charge of the writing, but now i see he writes some of the worst jokes recently.

First off he can't understand what car he is. It is funny how Pat calls him out on by saying "you colorblind bastard". Then I guess Mike senses Bimmy might be getting upset and says "you know what that other car kind of looks blue too" Why must everyone treat James with kid gloves?
Then after the first race they come to the upgrade screen where you can upgrade various parts on your car. James says "who cares" and just skips it. Then at 6:37 he says in such a whiny tone "so I'm just legitimately going slower than everybody" then Mike says "you didn't buy anything cause you just said frick it" and James says "well I didn't know what I was doing!" and instead of saying well duh I mean it said upgrades right on the screen he again treats him with kid gloves and says "that's ok it doesn't make that much difference really yet just next time buy some stuff" Jeez! Don't want Bimmy Wimmy to get upset and break a window.
We are now in the middle of the second race and James asks "So A is gas right?" Seriously dude? Two races in and you are asking which 1 of the 2 buttons is gas? Then Mike responds "A is gas but the other button is a turbo thing" James starts pressing B and freaks out because he found the turbo button. Within 6 seconds James goes from having 26 turbos to only having 10 because he just keeps pressing the B button over and over while boosting into a wall.....This dude seriously acts like he has never played a video game before in his life.
Then Mike starts purposely running into Pat's car to slow him down. James is a lap ahead of both of them and says. "I'm still way slower than everyone else" Mike has to tell him that he is lapping them. Then at the end Mike says "James wins it!" I really wonder if Mike was running into Pat to slow him down just so James would win since he was whining about being slower than everyone else.
After James wins the race his mood seems to immediately improve he is smiling and he starts singing "bwa bwa bwa bwa bwamp" Now in the third race Mike starts going the wrong way just to frick up Pat. James is winning and is smiling and laughing the whole time unlike the last race where he kept whining how he was slower. At first I thought I was looking into this too much (I still am) but his mood is totally different now that he has won a race and is currently winning this one. He is laughing and doing voices and all kinds of shit. What is funny is that despite Mike going the wrong way and running into Pat almost the whole race Pat still beats James in this race.
One of the next courses is a figure 8 type track and it just confuses James too much. "Why is it shaped like this? It's like a fricking pretzel!" At the end of this race James comes in third with Pat coming in first and the computer getting second. So James is back to whining. "I can't catch up to anyone! What are you buying? What makes you go faster?" Pat says like uh duh"umm top speed and acceleration" Then James says he can't read which ones say top speed even though they can easily be read.
Then the next race is again to confusing for James and he starts going the wrong way. He says "I'm so confused by this game" For fricks sakes James, Super Off-Road is just too confusing for you? Driving around a track is just too much to comprehend. Right after that he again whines "I can't keep up with anybody" then like a pouting child he just sits the controller down and stops playing because he isn't winning.
Then James says something very stupid about the game "There isn't anything interesting about the controls. You just hold A and steer left and right" Pat then rightfully says "Yes like all racing games James! That's what you do!" He then whines and says "It isn't F-Zero or Mario Kart" Umm yeah no shit, what is that even supposed to mean? In F-Zero you also hold down the gas and steer left and right. He then says Rad Racer is better despite it having the same hold A and steer left and right controls.

Pretty good, but my biggest problem is James' acting is so bad nowadays. He can't scream at all.
I mean this is what he's been doing since the soft reboot in 2022 pretty much. Whatever was going on with the show from 2017-2021 seems to have been (finally) recognized as the wrong direction.

For me, the main problem is James doesnt outsource enough. Screenwave studio should just build their own new nerd room at a studio James can drive to. Have fattie justin take care of the camera and lights and leave james to be an actor. I used to think James should just be in charge of the writing, but now i see he writes some of the worst jokes recently.
The only thing that can fix AVGN is if you hire someone from the Truth reddit or Cinemaphile to edit James scripts.

First off he can't understand what car he is. It is funny how Pat calls him out on by saying "you colorblind bastard". Then I guess Mike senses Bimmy might be getting upset and says "you know what that other car kind of looks blue too" Why must everyone treat James with kid gloves?
Then after the first race they come to the upgrade screen where you can upgrade various parts on your car. James says "who cares" and just skips it. Then at 6:37 he says in such a whiny tone "so I'm just legitimately going slower than everybody" then Mike says "you didn't buy anything cause you just said frick it" and James says "well I didn't know what I was doing!" and instead of saying well duh I mean it said upgrades right on the screen he again treats him with kid gloves and says "that's ok it doesn't make that much difference really yet just next time buy some stuff" Jeez! We are now in the middle of the second race and James asks "So A is gas right?" Seriously dude? Two races in and you are asking which 1 of the 2 buttons is gas? Then Mike responds "A is gas but the other button is a turbo thing" James starts pressing B and freaks out because he found the turbo button. Within 6 seconds James goes from having 26 turbos to only having 10 because he just keeps pressing the B button over and over while boosting into a wall.....This dude seriously acts like he has never played a video game before in his life.

Then Mike starts purposely running into Pat's car to slow him down. James is a lap ahead of both of them and says. "I'm still way slower than everyone else" Mike has to tell him that he is lapping them. Then at the end Mike says "James wins it!" I really wonder if Mike was running into Pat to slow him down just so James would win since he was whining about being slower than everyone else.
After James wins the race his mood seems to immediately improve he is smiling and he starts singing "bwa bwa bwa bwa bwamp" Now in the third race Mike starts going the wrong way just to frick up Pat. James is winning and is smiling and laughing the whole time unlike the last race where he kept whining how he was slower. At first I thought I was looking into this too much (I still am) but his mood is totally different now that he has won a race and is currently winning this one. He is laughing and doing voices and all kinds of shit. What is funny is that despite Mike going the wrong way and running into Pat almost the whole race Pat still beats James in this race.
One of the next courses is a figure 8 type track and it just confuses James too much. "Why is it shaped like this? It's like a fricking pretzel!" At the end of this race James comes in third with Pat coming in first and the computer getting second. So James is back to whining. "I can't catch up to anyone! What are you buying? What makes you go faster?" Pat says like uh duh"umm top speed and acceleration" Then James says he can't read which ones say top speed even though they can easily be read.

Driving around a track is just too much to comprehend. Right after that he again whines "I can't keep up with anybody" then like a pouting child he just sits the controller down and stops playing because he isn't winning.
Then James says something very stupid about the game "There isn't anything interesting about the controls. You just hold A and steer left and right" Pat then rightfully says "Yes like all racing games James! That's what you do!" He then whines and says "It isn't F-Zero or Mario Kart" Umm yeah no shit, what is that even supposed to mean? In F-Zero you also hold down the gas and steer left and right. He then says Rad Racer is better despite it having the same hold A and steer left and right controls.
Had he been winning he would have said it was a good game. Just because he lost he tries to make up shitty excuses about the controls. At first I thought well maybe he isn't whining as much as I remember. But as the video went on it became obvious. Seriously watch the video and compare his mood between after he won a race and when he was losing it is a huge difference. When he is winning he is smiling and singing but when he is losing it is all "well I'm just going slower than everyone" "what button is gas" "I didn't know what to do" It is a good thing Pat didn't call James the balls on the dick or he might have smashed the NES.

I don't know what the age range of this thread is but I got into AVGN when I was around 13 when the first reviews came out on his website. I grew out of it a few years later. Even at that age I could tell there was something not quite right with his brain. I don't know why people expect a renaissance from him. He has legitimate autism and low IQ. It's a miracle he was able to fail upwards for so long. You guys hate April but if he was on his own, his kids would be taken into care. Imagine the dumb way they'd die if he was their sole guardian.
