Most likely, shows intended for an explicitly male audience are handled extremely poorly, leading to a perceived lack of interest. Ergo, had they made her the MC (with a few adjustments to her character), it would've sold better since they'd actually put time into making a decent female lead.
>explicitly male audience are handled extremely poorly, leading to a perceived lack of interest
What do you mean by this, like shows mainly geared for boys like regular show or kick buttowski? I love female leads but I feel like if they just wrote the male lead better it would of gotten more love
Maybe not to her specifically, but I think you’d need to fix literally everything else about the show, like the side characters and especially the settting
>Regular show was for boys
Least in the beginning, before relationship drama seeped in, likely to draw in more female fans just like Adventure Time around the same timeframe. Kick didn't get the love it deserved til much later when the zoomies had their inevitable nostalgic phase.
Now that you bring it up I don't think Genndy has ever worked on any animation for Disney TVA or even Nick. He only does series for CNS/WB and movies for Sony.
>Zeke, Marsha, and the citizens of Subterrenea-Tania are all interesting and unique characters in terms of appearance and personality >Billy, the main protagonist, is the least appealing character who's pretty much annoying, unlikeable and is the only one not frozen in the finale's climax thus he has to save the day because he's the main character
Also, the really shouldn't have made Judy a one-off character who make minor appearances in the final two episode.
>Show has 22 minutes like The Owl House and Gravity Falls
>Show focuses on Marsha and like every DTVA protagonist, she is awkward and quirky but the twist is that she is a "yes man" type of person, easy to manipulate which leads her being paired up with Billy and Zeke for the school science fair by the school's newspaper
>Billy is just the comic relief of the show, Zeke always looks at Marsha as a lonely girl seeking attention and trought the series they become loyal friends and a found family with Billy being a lonely kid and Zeke being a trouble maker.
>Going to Subterra-tania plays as usual
>Show is about Marsha learning all summer that she dosn't need to be an "all yes" type of person, each episode has Marsha meeting the cast of the final series and finding the scraps to go back to Earth.
>Billy Dilley's focused episodes are mostly b plots while Zeke episodes are mostly a plots
Not bad, the show really would’ve worked better if it was about all three of the kids equally in the whole run instead of Billy being the most prominent protagonist.
>Tony and Yuckie become are friends with Zeke and Billy, episodes featuting them deal with Billy making his first friends, Zeke making Tony come out of his shell
>Anaximander remains the same
>Drama on the show is Marsha sometimes using that manipulation on Billy,Zeke or other character and seeing how she was being used by her supposed friends back on earth
>Marsha bonds with Hag Witch and her sisters while they help her go back Home
>Zeke and hag witches sisters do pranks
>Home-sickness for earth is explored with each character like missing birthday parties or Important summer events (concerts, conventions, autograph sessions, movie premieres)
>Mrs Wretcher's is the main antagonist of the series, while Count Wretcher has a redemption arc and has similar "all yes man" traits as Marsha, Torson is similar to Ludo and Peppers
>Troggies,Zarthan & Jared are for filler episodes, specially for Billy b plots
Springer's a great cartoonist, I think it's sad that his legacy is largely his post movie SpongeBob episodes. Even if you dislike Billy Dilley, he worked on Gravity Falls, wrote and boarded in SpongeBob's golden years and created Korgoth and Periwinkle Around the World.
Then what the frick happened with Billy Dilley? Why did Disney even find the show and allow it to turn out the way it did if they were just going to shit out all 13 episodes in less than two weeks with little to no advertising?
No, because Disney hates Springer

The few people that bothered watching Subterranean Summer did not like Billy at all because he was annoying to the audience.
True. He could’ve been an ok side character and I agree with OP, with a few fixes Marsha could’ve been a nice MC
What fixes?
I dont know, maybe make her a little less crazy/more of a straight man? I still like her a lot though
Maybe not to her specifically, but I think you’d need to fix literally everything else about the show, like the side characters and especially the settting
Maybe also change the artstyle slightly like
's pic to make it look cute for kids to draw.
>Regular show was for boys

What was with 2010 cartoons devolving into romance drama?
>Shes voiced by Boxxy
I think having Genndy Tarkakovsky as part of the creative team would have helped more like Periwinkle and Koroth.
But Genndy and the mouse sounds like matchmade in hell
Now that you bring it up I don't think Genndy has ever worked on any animation for Disney TVA or even Nick. He only does series for CNS/WB and movies for Sony.
It definitely would have helped if the main character didn’t look like a fat ginger vegana.
The show's MC was so disgusting to look at that literally anything different would've probably saved it.
The art in Baby's New Formula was amazing. How did he downgrade so much?

Ok here's my pitch based on rewatching the series
>Marsha's Super Duper Subterranean Summer
>Show has 22 minutes like The Owl House and Gravity Falls

Will Marsha and Zeke make out, or hold hands?
Not bad, the show really would’ve worked better if it was about all three of the kids equally in the whole run instead of Billy being the most prominent protagonist.
You even gave Billy’s character more depth!

Didn't boxxy voice this character? How the frick did that happen?
I love this show so much. I'm so happy to see a thread about it. I think I'm its only fan.
>I think I'm its only fan.
You just might be.
