NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO DOES NOT COMPUTE!
Seriously, why did people get so incredibly butthurt at this? The giant drill vehicle and tanks that can climb mountains, that's fine. But a FORKLIFT? REEEEEEEEEEEEE!!! The hell.
The comics were as bad, if not worse than Korra.
Because they just traced an image of a normal fricking forklift instead of coming up with something unique.
I fail to see how anyone could make a forklift "unique."
I've literally seen art posted in one of these threads before where someone actually came up with what a bending powered forklift would look like in the style of the show and it looked great. As much as I give Korra shit for some of the stuff they included they at least tried to paint most of their technology with the Asian aesthetics brush instead of just giving us regular ass european cars.
Maybe if it looked less modern. It seems juxtaposed against the background there, looking too new.
That would work better considering Korras 20s theme (which is still bad)
Then you’s a shallow-minded sumbitch.
>The comics were as bad, if not worse than Korra.
How, exactly? The characters have the same personality, and the humor is the same as in ATLA. The story feels like a natural evolution after Ozai's defeat.
morons like you want flintstones tech.
Comics explanation actually made sense with it though.
Plus
Its a living.
If the forklift's look was "steampunkified", then literally no one would complain despite the underlying technology being the same.
they essentially jumped from the steam powered vehicles that existed before the model A to a fully modern forklift within something close to two years.
Because it has no roll cage
very unsafe anons don't use it
I honestly would've been fine if they tried a little harder to make it look like it was from the Avatar universe. They have tanks in their universe but it certainly doesn't look like anything from our universe.
1
>It's too modern a design for something which should be brand new technology
2
>People doesn't like the change to a more modern setting from the more beloved ancient oriental look. Even if it is set up in the show, it's not appreciated
Retrofuturism
it should look more like pic related (and with a visible steam engine) instead of a fully housed, electrically powered forklift that's no older than the 1980s.
Because it's not a steampunk vehicle, but a forklift with a compact combustion engine, galvanized rubber wheels and a high-vis paint job.
The giant drill thing was moronic on so many levels.
The giant drill fit perfectly as a supervillain steampunk / mechanical super weapons, it's like clockwork beasts in chinese legends.
It's completely idiotic to implement it like this. This shit is overall moronic, no matter how steam punky it is and logistically impossible and they so happened to move this shit through the whole dessert.
If you can't see the tonal difference between a steampunk monstrosity and a regular-ass forklift, then my condolences.
I'm not defending the giant drill, that shit was dumb. But you can't just put a Honda in ATLA and justify it with "B-But they had machines before!"
The difference is obvious, but you are exaggerating. There is nothing weird or stupid about this scene.
Yeah homie, nothing stupid with the water tribe knowing how to produce lead batteries or engines. Or are you willing to bet that there's a steampunk coal burner inside that thing?
Hell, why would they even use crates instead of barrels in that time period?
Just don't use the forklift. Is it really that hard?
Is it really so hard to hold off on a joke for the sake of the setting?
Did you read the comics? The whole point of showing the forklift was for the guy to tell Sokka about how technology helps non-benders catch up in productivity to benders.
How does that make it less stupid?
Oh so if the forklift had random spikes and spirals on it, it would suddenly be okay? You anti-technology gays are the reason why the fantasy genre is so stagnant
It's more the idea that this entirely other universe of cultures and magic shit would independently develop an EXACT replica of a forklift from fricking home depot.
>steampunk jet skis
ok
>forklifts
not ok
>steampunk forklifts
ok
Capisce?
>Why are people fine with bending powered steampunk nonsense but not with a literal modern forklift you can find in any warehouse right now in 2023, including the modern engine when even LOK only had Ford Model 1s
I came from this thread to say people would defend that shit but you were faster than me so I'll just tell you to have a nice day.
>inventing a modern-ass forklift decades before the invention of an automobile
it was dumb and you know it
>Playing both sides this blatantly
You're not smart enough to pull it off.
call it a grippie lift or a big load scooper, idk make the name more avatary
No idea but I've always found it funny how they just drawed a straight up 2010s modern forklify into an feudal asian fantasy themed story.
It doesnt even respect it's own chronologic since Asami's father created fuel if I am not mistaken
I like how this doesn't even make sense considering the Fire Nation takes great influence from both China and Japan. China is basically the only country throughout most human history to be more or less okay with same-sex relationships (namely because the population is so massive a handful of gays aren't a risk), even if they aren't public about it. Hell, Japan historically speaking was in a similar position (only that it was exclusively a privilege the rich could afford) at a few points throughout their history and culture, and even today it falls under the same "don't make it public" thing.
It makes no sense for ANY ATLA nation to be homophobic considering ALL of their real world counterparts allowed same-sex relationships in some capacity. This just exists for the sake of making the Fire Nation more evil.
Yeah as long as you're on the dl and give them an heir asian countires historically don't care all that much as long as you have the money and clout to ignore societal norms
>as long as you have the money and clout to ignore societal norms
As much as burgers talk about the 1%, it's more like 0.001% in China and Japan. So yeah it's good reason to be pissed if virtually everyone in your society can't have that luxury.
It was a show made in 2009, every single nation and character would be homophobic.
You have absolutely no idea what your talking about
I'd say genocide was worse than banning gay marriage
I justify it as a way of the Fire Nation becoming more and more militaristic. The Fire Nation were probably the second most populous nation so they didn't really need to worry about the population. As soon as they focused on world conquest, they changed their minds because doing such a thing would require a huge and perpetual population. Sozin probably didn't really care about gay people but he must've thought that even it was vital to enforce the rule on like two percent of the population at most for the war effort. It's the same reason why there's Fire Nation female soldiers and guards.
I can kinda see the reasoning behind this at first, but historically the most important thing is producing children and it isn't like gay lovers couldn't also have a heterosexual spouse for the purpose of having children, pretty sure that was the norm for most of history in places where people weren't just killed for being gay.
>Korra only cares when something directly affect her
I don’t know why people are mad about this, this is perfectly in character for her
Yes it does
Its style doesn't fit. It should look like it was made by the people living in this world. Not like it was ripped straight out of our world.
Nah, it'd probably suck ass
Is he forklift certified?
Yes
>Would people be excited for an animated adaptation of the ATLA comics?
No, not even in a ironic "Time to see Zuko get cucked" kind of way
So what is the Zuko got cucked thing?
Zuko got cucked by Mai who then hooks up with some pleb and also Suki gets close with Zuko for some reason?
Idk the comics were stupid as frick.
Because they embraced the moronic idea that only Aang and Katara had a happy life in Korra so the comics followed up with that. I know in real life teens don't tend to end up with their high school love or whatever but at the end of TLA everyone had a happy ending. Further material had no reason to destroy that.
Honestly if I were Bryke I would’ve had Aang have a harem out of necessity to help bring his people back. Reveal that he and Katara knew this was inevitable and break it off on good terms, hell, have her still be Tenzin’s mom.
That's moronic too.
Better than “the spirits suddenly decide to bring airbenders back” shit they pulled later on.
No. They should have kept Zuko/Mai and Suki/Sokka. Even if they don't have kids just let the couples stay together.
We never even find out who Zuko’s daughters mom is do we? They really did just keep that shit vague as hell. And other than a single flashback we get absolutely nothing on the life Sokka led. They just fricked that man over.
1: Izumi's mom is Azula, thus why they don't come out with it.
2: Sokka is clearly just a glorified comic relief they had no clue what to do with long term, just like they had no idea what to do with Suki so they memoryholed them.
>I know in real life teens don't tend to end up with their high school love or whatever
My past friends did. At least 2 of them. Eben my older siblings do T_T
>it looks too modern!
It's a fricking forklift, that's like b***hing they make forks or spoons too modern.
see
>yellow paintjob
>vulcanized rubber tires
>no obvious power source
anon pls
They literally show the fricking motor and it's a modern ass motor that you find on google image, you homosexual.
It's not even adapted to be used on the ice / in the snow.
Watching Korra for the first time
Asami is pure sex and Tenzin is fun
Everything else is meh I like Bolin and Pabu I guess
I wouldn't.
The forklift is fine, the problem is how modern it looks, if it was an old-school forklift it would have been 100% fine.
>modern
it has no rollcage!
I am a 90% sure normies arent aware of the comics
Is that fricking contigency
yeah I think it is, gross ass fricking lips
>Avatar: Traveling incognito through the Fire nation means that Sokka and the group need to keep a low profile and not stir up any trouble. Something that makes him a great big fat target for the mockery of one especially hung and mean firebender who owns an inn the group are stayng at. T
he minor mockery is however nothing next to the sheer indignity of having to listen to his formerly prideful lil sister being thoroughly fricked through the walls. Having gone there to give him a piece of her mind, and fittingly losing some IQ points to his massive wiener. The mean bully loving the extra padding that Katara has and Katara getting a first-hand account of the sheer domineering nature of firebenders, something that seems absolutely obvious to her now
apparently he's gonna draw sokka getting.. sisterly? cucked by your generic FN guy
i just dont get why people either say he's muh ladies man because of that scene with ty Lee or just treat him like a cuck that's being cheated on behind his back by every woman he's interacted with
shut up sokka
>i just dont get why people either say he's muh ladies man because of that scene with ty Lee
Same reason all Buffy fanfics are about 'Xander', shitty writers and NPCs love to latch onto boring 'everyman' moronic comic relief.
No, because the comics have all the same writing problems as most post-ATLA content (namely Bryke).
Not even a little.
Very much
>1 hour of seeing a bit of Azula and a bunch of guards asses (males) and Zuko's humongous wiener
Would pay JUST to see Ursa pregnant and being smug about it.
why are the bait replies always getting the most (you)s?
Fair enough
This thread doesn't sound forklift certified. Holy shit, kids. It's a 4 hour course that's like, 100 bucks. Invest in yo-self.
Do you know how complex the process is to make tire rubber? Why is it painted yellow when everything we've seen until now has had it's respective nation's colors? What nation invented this? Where does the steam engine fit? Why does the water tribe which is by far the least advanced nation have access to this tech? Where are their rubber factories? Do they even have trees on the poles? How do these ice monkeys know how to operate a forklift? Is it water tribe tradition to get your forklift certification alongside your wolf's tail and face paint before going into battle? Where is all this processed metal coming from? Why use rubber wheels on ice? Gasoline? Electricity? Why use forklifts when you have benders and all of your architecture is made of ice?
Korra’s technical advancements ruined Avatar before Forky did.
>digits
Well it's pretty obvious that a shit spin-off is gonna cause more damage than some shitty comics which only people around here b***h about.
I bet the next Avatar is gonna be in an age similar to ours and I'll expect some corny shit like
>YOU'RE TRENDING, AVATAR!
It's gonna be cyberpunk with a earth kingdom Avatar, we already know.
You know what's worse than modern machinery in an industrial era and steampunk themed fantasy martial arts world?
It looks like one of those droids from star wars
Was it a mistake setting Korra in the 20s?
YES!
if the artist had just used pic related no one would care
You know, given the (lack of) effort the artist made with the design choice, and assuming that these type of people are not mechanical autists or whatever, I'm willing to bet it was a trace job.
No shit it's a trace. It doesn't even match perspective. And their lack of understanding is all the more apparent when you look at the wheels. That type of wheel is intended for gravel, etc. and the forklift would be basically immobile in snowy or wet conditions.
The motor which we see later is also a trace.
