No. Robert Patrick absolutely nailed that role. T2's theatrical cut is perfect and simply cannot be improved in any way.

I agree he was perfect for the role. Still I think it would be interesting twist if Biehn was T-1000 but as the other anon said, maybe a bit too much.

I agree on the theatrical release. The only scene that is missing is the chip reset. Other than that the additional scenes of the special edition ruin the pacing and even the story.

I think if they'd gotten Biehn to play the T-1000 they would have had to make it a completely different movie.
Off the top of my head the scene where Sarah shoots him before he gets knocked into the lava would need a totally different buildup, and the scene where he first appears to her in the psych ward would have gone totally differently.

What's the issue? They remove the chip and put it back in. It's a hard reset. He probably needed to reset the kernel to apply the change, but as long as the chip is socketed in it's powered up.

Oh I get what you mean now. Why is it a problem that it's a hardware pin? The implication is that Skynet is letting some of them learn and then harvest them to update a batch of next infiltrators to be more human, and possibly some of the units develop feelings and their own goals and are useless for Skynet. Wouldn't it make more sense to make universal chips on the conveyor belt instead of specialized factories for learning units?

this scene is dumb melodrama wisely deleted but i always thought the t1000 in john's bedroom was essential. not only is it insanely creepy it also explains how the t1000 got to the mental hospital

                >it also explains how the t1000 got to the mental hospital
The opening scene with T-1000 using the police car console to locate John easily explains how he finds Sarah. The room scene is unnecessary.

it doesn't because "police car consoles" lol are extremely basic and incidentally he didn't use that to find her anyway he used john's room

                >it doesn't because "police car consoles" lol are extremely basic
???? He literally types in John Connor and finds his address. The room is not in theatrical release which we are talking about so he didn't use it to find her.

what does that have to do with accessing mental health records which are much more restricted otherwise he would have done that which wouldn't have made any sense. it doesn't make any sense how he found sarah using the LOL police car console which is just your head cannon

                Anonymous

He doesn't have to access her mental health records, all he needs is her address, which is Pescadero as she is a lifer. She would have a criminal record of domestic terrorism with mental eval visible to any cop on the console. What are you even on about. Watch any cop bodycam video on youtube, background check is the most basic thing and at worst he would call the central and imitate a cop to get a callback with her info.

His target was John Connor; after getting the phone call at the step-parents house he realized John knows he can't go back there, so where else would John go? The asylum obviously

I got the impression it could only become people it touches. It killed John's foster mom and stabbed Sarah before impersonating them. Fat security guard stepped on it. I'm pretty sure Robert Patrick is a Resistance fighter in the future that it kills then replicates. There might be something in the movie that contradicts this but I can't remember.

In essence it is the perfect action film. Not everything, but much of that fact was Robert Patrick being cast and his performance. People really underestimate the importance of finding the right guy, you couldn't just cast a stoic looking actor who could play a heavy. I don't think Biehn could have done this role, I don't think a young Lee Marvin could have pulled this off as well tbh. The intensity and execution of detail Robert brought was essential. Plus it would be hack-y and time consuming if Cameron brought Biehn back to play on the sentiments of the two main characters. Instead he kept it lean and mean with an actor who could sell the audience the idea on an unconscious level that he could utterly destroy robot Arnold in a fight.

True. But T2 is only the perfect action film because it's a sequel of the perfect slasher film, so it gets away with not explaining things, as they already were explained. Basically what a sequel should be. I prefer T1 but both movies are perfect in their own genres.

That's just a moronic fan theory. Both Terminators were sent back at the same time in the future. That, and Skynet wouldn't have been able to analyze anything about the events in T1 because it has no way of looking into the past.

Man I wish we would get a Terminator war movie that is exact copy of the future war, with aesthetics and deep fakes of Biehn and young Arnold, Franco Columbu, and the guy who portrayed John at the beginning of T2. The machines shot as practical figures with stop motion and the footage enhanced by AI motion to make it look way better than any CGI.

Since the T1000 could shapeshift, I wonder why it had a standard “look” it stuck to. Even when it changed its outfit

Why didn’t he just take the cops face he killed as well as replicating his uniform?

      Anonymous

The polyalloy probably saved a default configuration to conserve processing power or something. When he gets frozen and is blown to pieces, after he reconfigures himself back you can see him being misaligned. The top of his body has the default cop uniform and the bottom is from the motocycle shapeshift with the boots.
