No, because he properly identifies child abuse and properly identifies the solution, carries it out, and turns himself in knowing what he did

Yes, it was a step above yarptard but far less nuanced in both acting and writing than Hoffman's Rain Man. God I hate that pretentious no-talent homosexual of an "actor"

I’m rewatching. I think he is abusive tbh. It’s pretty sad that Karl feels like he had to kill him as a solution and forfeits his freedom for it.

He knew that that man was going to continue abusing and ruining the child's life, that the kid had no escape unless he did something

He was pretty bad, and would've kept inflicting abuse and getting away with it because he knew people in the police department. The mom, the kid, and the gay friend all knew he was gonna kill him too which is why they all deserted the house so he could do it.

funny I mostly remember him being condescending and unsupportive, then theres that jam scene that made me think he was more interesting type guy to get that many bros over to casually jam like that then he kicks em all out heh brings me back to my jamming memories

Say what you will about the financial subordination caused by being married to the only person in the house who works, but the way it’s given the best way to handle it is to kill your abusive husband hoping you get the money rather than just leave him is pretty grim

Oh. And what, he just won’t leave? The cops are his friends or whatever? It’s been a long time I’m just curious about the mechanics of letting the local moron murder your husband rather than just separating from the guy, though this is probably all without an option for no fault divorce

He drive with Karl all hammered and admitted it to the police and they didn’t care. Kind of flexing his immunity from the law. He really probably could have been dealt with without murder but Karl is moronic after all.

            then here is my response
Karl is simply misunderstood though he is handicapped he has
            >drive
got a job in a day after getting out of the state hospital his boss loved his work ethic
            >intelligence
he is also a wiz with small engines.
            >moral conviction
            1. kills Doyle an abusive pos who would of ruined a boys life
            2. tells off an annoying psychopath killer who unlike himself enjoys killing

he is the opposite of full moron he is the most based mentally handicapped person ever depicted in film.

I personally think its the best film ever made. it has a sense of realism somehow that's never been able to be captured again.

just wondering why did it effect your father so much?

I think it would probably affect any man with a soul. Maybe Karl reminds him of my grandpa, his dad. He was also fascinated with Karl’s weird food choices.

He wasn’t moronic though. He had a stack of classic literature he read and remembered all of.

Not really the kind of thing a moron can do.

He had some developmental disorder didnt he? He still had basic logical thinking. Higher level thinking. And was aware of how the world works to the point he did socially courteous stuff like censor himself regarding what he talked to the boy about because he knew it was for adults. Or killing the dad and turning himself in (genuinely would have been dumbed if he tried to run)
