Would Truman Show have been more effective had they not spoiled the premise of the movie in the opening sequence?

Would Truman Show have been more effective had they not spoiled the premise of the movie in the opening sequence? It feels like something they added in edit for the low IQ boomer audience.

The ending is more meaningful if you know the twist from the start.

There's a cut that shows NO real world scenes, I think.

If it was a Twilight Zone-ish suspense thriller, then yes. It was a comedy, though.

I always love a good schizo story where the schizo turns out to be right

it's effective because it forces you to be in on it from the start. by "revealing" it to you right from the beginning you are now complicit in truman's imprisonment in a way and are spectating his artificial rat maze life just like everybody else. that perspective is what makes it effective to begin with

No, very Reddit and stupid take. We know Truman is a movie character played by a very famous actor. We're not complicit in shit moron

They did that with Idiocracy too. Would have been better without that beginning.

this is ALSO a movie that fares much better with its lack of a twist/reveal and its intro, by showing you just how much of a dullard he is in our world, and how our world at least still functions and isn't some clown house favela nightmare

it's actually a great horror movie, at least comedy horror. that panning shot of the super mega mart that brutalistically spans off into the smoggy, barren horizon is unbelievable

It would have been kind of cringe. But it really wouldn't change much either way. OMG BIG REALIZATION is pretty gay 90 percent of the time and used as a crutch

    1. Would you trade your current life for a Truman Show-like creation where you were unaware you were in the show but were generally happy and safe and well provided-for?
    2. Same question as above, but you are aware you are in a show but no one else is aware you're aware.

question: what happens if people get bored and my show gets cancelled? Do I die?

No, assume the whole thing has been paid for ahead of time so it continues no matter what

If I went with 1 it'd be my current life. In fact my current life could very well already BE option 1 right now.
          Option 2 seems kino

If the reveal was when the director revealed himself to Truman, that would be the worst dogshit thing ever. So I hope that's not what you mean.
