Would you all want to watch a cartoon revolving around a girl practicing and participating in karate?
If it can work for yawara! And judo, it can work with karate.

yes cute girl cute feet i love her
God, you're so fricking boring.
She would also goes all over the place challenging other martial artists
As long as its realistic in its depiction of her fighting men
Sure, but abit of leeway to the smallest chance of a win over men.
Like, get beat once and then redeem herself in the rematch using actual self defence moves like going for the groin instead of just going for a straight fight
be funny if her rival was some street fighting butthole guy who is just naturally talented. Just have him be not a big guy but a guy who's her goal to beat he's maybe decent at the martial art but really good in a actual street fight. maybe even destroys her self confidence and pride when he beats her in a real fight easily.
But then that starts feels like it's the set up of those ntr/mind break corruption stories in hentai
If the match-ups are insane there has to be something realistic for her to win not just a single kick or punch
Agility and maneuverability would be her best assets
Nothing feels more wrong than a woman kicking a man 2 feet taller and 150lbs heavier than her in the chest and have him flying across the room
Now timing a good kick to the bend of a knee to make a man fall over followed by a good back swing kick to the face makes a lot more sense
Maybe also acknowledging the pain right after the fight is over and the adrenaline is gone would be funny
Remember this scene from chuck? And how the guy was being a gentlemen?

>im not gonna fight you
>yeah ok but I will attack you with a weapon
This does seem pretty realistic to how women can kick a big mans ass
Like this?
Yes.
Underestimating a gym womans ferocity against untrained men is something that happens far too much irl
I think like the average man can take like 75% of trained women but in that scenario that means 25% of trained women could win by either going against a weak opponent or being extremely skilled/tactful
Its like with kicking. Almost no one does it in fights but it has way more force than a punch and since its not expected the only thing that could stop it is the other person rushing the kicker by chance
Height and weight classes be damned
only weak men who fetishize being beaten by a girl like that trope
Yeah there's a pretty vocal fanbase of those
There's Mabataki yori Hayaku!! but it's got an even deader English TL than Mou Ippon at only three chapters. Also the fact that Mou Ippon was pretty much a "everyone who watched it loved it but not a lot of people watched it" type of show and the English TL being dead with nobody seemingly interested in picking it up is depressing. I've had to look at raws and then MTL the Spanish version to get my fix.
Because for most people "manga" is basically just a replacement for cape comics and not an actual medium with a large variety of genres. They'll SAY there's a large variety of genres but 99% of them are never going to read anything other than what amounts to Japanese capeshit. American SoL is basically annoying, self-absobred twentysomethings wangsting about capitalism and being gay.
What does that have to do with my post? I'm just making fun of musclemommygays who like the idea of being beaten up by women.
It was meant for
I mean to be fair unless it's being done by a literally anorexia bag of bones a drop kick is a drop kick and it WILL mess you up.
Doesnt A drop kick uses both legs? at least the ones i know of
A woman barely managing to escape a guy on that's on drugs and not trying to kill her is not as impressive as your essay flaccidly attempts to make it seem.
Cope
She got away safely, right?
Yeah
Only if it's an adaptation of Sakura Ganbaru (I know that's stepping in Cinemaphile territory but frick it, that'd be a fun way to do a Street Fighter anime, and we haven't had one of those in a while)
If they did do something current I'd just be half baked fighting followed by talk no jitsu which I expect Invincible Fight Girl to turn out.
only if they lean into the foot fetish bait
make the girls wear those martial art shoes so footgays suffer
The wooden ones are called geta
The straw ones are called gi
*zori
>make them inaccurate because muh moralhomosexualry
have a nice day. give us barefoot chicks. hell, pull a Pokémon Maylene and give us one girl who goes barefoot EVERYWHERE because she’s just that hardcore
Walking on hot coals
AIUI hot coals aren’t actually that bad because the skin on your soles is thick and you walk over them fast enough to not burn it. Now broken glass on the other hand
Die hard is a great chrismas movie
>have a nice day
He's british you have to deny him his foot heavy scenes
Purposely make sure to focus on the feet alot but have them wearing the shoes
You don't want guys like this in your fanbase
Yes. Why doesn't Cinemaphile have more cgdct?
>karate kid but e-girl
it will probably unironically work though it's not like i want it
>realismgays
I don't give a frick If the kid is a boy or a girl, in magic martial arts world a child or a frail old man can beat a musclebutt adult If they trained right and that's the end of it
We never see kids being trained the way Goku and his kids were
If the girl in the story had his training then I'd excuse the fact that she is still only human and shouldn't be able to ever get close to what Goku can do
Thought to be fair Krillin is human and a midget and he was pretty fricking powerful
Goku isn’t a normal human child, he’s an alien.
Strangely enough I saw someone use this argument recently for why their alien OC (who is stated to weigh something like 5x or 10x more than a human due to mass differences) could do the "small girl judo tosses grown man" thing and the response he got was "cope, it's unrealistic". Despite her literally outweighing a dude by 600 pounds.
So i think gender does play a role in believability
I'm the furthest thing from woke and even I have to draw the line there.
Even if you have a feminine bodyplan with all its drawbacks in terms of upper body strength, reach, and size, 600 pounds on a man is not surmountable. It's not even a good idea to pit two men who are 100 pounds off from each other.
I can give a female a handicap that maybe 200 of those pounds are wasted by her gynaeoid body shape, but that still leaves at least 400 pounds of what I presume were raw muscle? or dense bones?
In that case, that would actually be sexism unless the OC creator was extremely selective about it. "Oh, she weighs nearly a thousand pounds, but there's no drawbacks to it and it doesn't affect anything other than her ability to fight."
That was something Toriyama pulled out of his ass during the Frieza saga.
unironically yes, it is legit a cool genre and even if anime does a lot like baki, ippo, medaka box, kenran whatever, it's sad it's almost never done in cartoons
>simple premise just go train and be the best
>cool action
>huge waifu potential
>slice of life + action balance
homies fear success, just don't copy anime a lot and should be fine
Hanakaku was great. I actually enjoyed it more than Teppu. Teppu just kind of ended because the author "got sick" (wrote himself into a corner) but Hanakaku managed to tell a complete story despite getting axed.
Medaka is a bit of a stretch innit
I'd read a comic about it
Make her do Muay Thai instead.
Either it's lauded for female empowerment or panned for cultural appropriation, there's no inbetween in this climate.
Its a (choose your race)girl practicing karate.
Anyone can practice it at a dojo
Kind of something like that?
Yea boi
>People talking about gender disparity
This is a pointless complaint, if you're going for realism, it's probably a cute SoL involving martial arts girls. They won't be fighting men outside a sparring capacity besides MAYBE a very contextual event.
If you're not going to do that, then realism is out the window and you can do whatever the frick you want.
>This is a pointless complaint, if you're going for realism, it's probably a cute SoL involving martial arts girls.
I'd say that's Mou Ippon but it's really only "cute SoL" at the very beginning and for like one or two chapter inbetween tournaments when they're not training or doing joint practices with other schools. It's otherwise a series that has a lot of judo and takes its subject matter seriously. I assume most of its portrayal is reasonably realistic as well given that the author is an amateur judoka himself.
It's a nice example of how mega-kino great spokon can be too. Seeing Himeko solo an entire team in the current (and likely series' final) tournament was great because it ties together a number of plot threads for the character that had been going since her introduction 100+ chapters prior: she gets to look strong, she gets to inspire a kohai while stepping up and proving to her senpai that she'll be able to lead the club when they retire while also being able to step out from behind the sister whose shadow she's always been in. It winds up being really satisfyng.
Karate feet
>thread asking about the possibility of a female martial arts series
>90% of it is arguing about the "realism" of male/female fights for some fricking reason
Autism leads to a lack of imagination.
