I like Henry. But his version of Superman just has too much baggage, and is too loaded down with controversy. Even if he behaves just like the Superman we want to see in the theoretical new movie. All people will be talking about is how this is the same Superman that snapped Zods neck and murdered millions of people (by accident but still), and how it doesn't make sense for him to be smiling all the time with that shit in his past.
The character needs a completely new slate with a new cast, new tone, new everything. If only to avoid people meming it to death. It needs to make sense for superman to smile, and he can't smile if he has a body count.
Just cast Cavill as Superman in a new continuity. If they need to explain the difference, just have Pa Kent alive in this continuity to make audiences realize "OK so this guy doesn't have the same backstory."
Casting a new Superman does all the effort of explaining it's a different Superman and continuity without having to put the effort in to explain shit. Just like they didn't need to explain Spider-Verse Peter Parker wasn't MCU peter parker. Because it was a cartoon not live action.
if they're going to start from scratch they should wait 10 more years, the dceu franchise has been dragged through the mud and their last 3 movies have been massive flops. even the batman suffered for it, when you compare it's success to the nolan movies
Let Reeves finish up his Batman trilogy, and then make a Superman trilogy set in the same universe. That's what they should have done with Chris Nolans Batman movies when they were making Man of Steel. It wouldn't have saved the DCEU probably, but at least the goodwill from the nolan movies may have mitigated some of the damage.
Watch the boys or brightburn or the snyder cut. You're spoiled for evil Superman. Let us have just one good Superman movie where he's not an butthole will you? Please?

I want Cavill to kickstart a new cinematic universe for DC that isn't dogshit. Problem is DC doesn't have their own Feige.
