In Villaneuve's defense, every time Dune gets adapted to screen the second half tends to be worse than the first, but if he wants this not to be shit he'll need to significantly cut down on Zendaya's lines and screen time, she cannot act and doesn't sell a romance with Paul at all.
A lot of the set and costuming also feels too clean in that "Amazon's Wheel of Time" and "Disney's Book of Boba Fett" way that implies they're not using professionals anymore and shifted over to the lazy and cheap streaming-service infrastructure burdening the media industry lately.
