i saw this one really close to the screen and i fear the person who printed my ticket thought i only got such a close seat to best see all the kids swimming in their swim suits
it's a metaphor about how men need to sacrifice for their family or else their family will get killed by a violent pool. basically don't become a father because it means you have to have a nice day and there's no upside.
The dad wants to get healed so he can go back to playing baseball. Doesn't seem like he was that successful even before his career ended based on the house he buys.
it's a metaphor about how you have to sacrifice your life and ambitions and dreams and happiness and hobbies to be a father who doesn't torture and ruin his kids
>being a father will drive you fricking insane and make you want to kill your family
does any film have a more positive view of fatherhood

Stephen King hated the movie because Jack doesn't get some redemption like he does in the novel. When he wrote the book King couldn't really admit to himself that he was Jack Torrance (alcoholic writer destroying his family).

im glad his self-insert got the come-uppance he deserved and was way cooler than him through the whole thing
I saw it today after seeing all the horrible review scores. Honestly it wasn't that bad, they failed the ending but then again most horror movies today do. The atmosphere was good and the plot wasn't as moronic as it could have been. >tldr
Not ground breaking or memorable, but better than most horror slop we get now.
If you're a movie studio that realizes they have a stinker on their hands the best place to dump it is in January. You don't want to send a good movie out then because audiences are tired of moviegoing after the holidays and weather could easily close venues on your opening weekend.
the commercial was so good though
yeah it was really bad. should've just been about an evil pool that ate people
I hope this heralds a return to the shitty horror film of the week that is released in theaters
I saw it last weekend and yeah the idea was interesting but they took it in a moronic direction
>the idea was interesting
A haunted pool?
Why can’t they make a horror movie about being tiny and a serial killer using a a shrink ray as his weapon?
What trailers did you get?
>spider ma'am
>detective action movie
>Kong and godzilla
>Ryan gosling stunt double kino
>detective action movie
Who was in this one?
I don't remember, it looked super reddit. Half the trailer was low effort quips about a cgi cat
I don't know what you expected. It didn't market itself as an A24 copy.

Was that not the reason for your seat selection?
i fell asleep for like 75% of the movie and only saw it because i couldnt stay at my apartment
Why couldn't you stay at your apartment?
It's haunted
Anon NEEDS to stop drowning children in his bathtub.
How old is the apt? Burn some sage, or yell you don't want to bother them and to just leave you alone.
Ghosts.
I had no idea what the plot of this movie was but apparently it's about the Evil Pool giving the Dad roid rage?

The pool was originally a natural spring that has healing powers, but needs a sacrifice as trade off

Sounds like The Shining if a dumb person made it.

Baseball was his job and the only thing he knew. Also, they wanted a pool for his physical therapy, and having a pool is cool
Literally just finished it 30 mins ago. Terrible. 3 out of 10 on a good day.
Death Bed but a pool?
I wish
I saw the commercial and thought "wow the bar is rock bottom for horror". Funny to see that it's James Wan. What's next, 'Spin The Bottle'?
Could you avoid death by not swimming in it at night?
Who the hell buys a pool and doesn’t go in it at night?
no. it was made clear that the pool ghosts could get you during the day

It tries to kill people during the day too
Why would you ever watch a horror movie released at the beginning of the year? That’s where they dump all the shitty ones.
ive never heard of this practice. why is this the case?
Halloween exists.

All they had to do was a movie length remake of pic related
The preview trailers were way worse than this movie.
>oh boy a new strong womyn marvel goyslop but this time with......LE EVIL SPIDERMAN?!?!?!
Do producers have much of a say in how things are directed? Because Wan hasn't made a kino horror movie since conjuring2
I guess those scenes were deleted for a reason.
