Life in the 90's, 00's, and 10's weren't that exciting or interesting compared to the 50's, 60's, and 70's. It wouldn't be a good movie at all. At best there would be a decent story around 9/11 and the Iraq war, but that's it.

9/11 on tv, his parents are having "the last fight" before its over. As the first plane hits, a door slams. As the second plane hits a gunshot goes off in the bedroom.
More scenes from childhood over years, each focused on entertainment and a historical event, except Forest's part is not significant yet.
What is notable is that each event is sad, there is no happiness
Then high school, forest has more family trouble with financial crisis, mother is in one of the houses she couldn't afford, talking to someone about being tricked.
But then Obama is shown elected and he visits forest's town. Says something to him.
Its first positive moment of entire movie.
Anyways you get gist.
He hits college and becomes a troony and it revolves around your typical leftie shit as being universally good and righty shit as universally bad.
Ending is forrest reading his children's book, a version of his story, to kids at a library, while he is in drag.
Everyone is happy, he's got a tear in his eye talking about his mother (now passed)
Then in final seconds you see a door open, a silhouette of a person in a maga hat holding an ar-15.
