This leaves the daughter in the middle. Maybe there’s a son that sides opposite the daughter. Ends on a happy ending with the daughter convincing them their love and their family are more important. Final scene is the parents making loud and passionate love while the daughter is in the other room listening to them glad they’re back together.

Dad leaves to buy cigarettes one day. Abandons his family. 2 years later family starts experiencing weird occurences. There are noises in their house and things move around and think someone has been breaking in but never see the guy. Some of their neighbors houses are vandalized and eventually some killings rock the neighborhood. People killed had connections to the family like the son’s bully at school’s entire family or the daughter’s boyfriend’s entire family or the neighbor whose been creeping on the mother leading police to suspect them but have no evidence. It turns out their dad never left and has been living in the walls the entire time. He has been living in hiding and turned into a prepper and killed their neighbors because he has gone crazy trying to protect his family from what he sees as the horrors of this world.
Film probably ends with like his daughter tearfully killing him or some gay shit. Would be cooler if they tried killing him and thought they killed him but slinks off and disappears leaving it up to the viewer to imagine if he made it back into hiding. But you know how movies are. Gotta kill the bad guy.

What if instead it was about the daughter being torn in the middle of who to side with. Like the parents are both spies working for different organizations but the mom is like the bad guy organization and dad is good one that’s trying to stop them but the mom’s organization is also morally grey like they do what they do because they have good goals but evil is a means to an end. This leaves the daughter in the middle. Maybe there’s a son that sides opposite the daughter. Ends on a happy ending with the daughter convincing them their love and their family are more important. Final scene is the parents making loud and passionate love while the daughter is in the other room listening to them glad they’re back together.
