not the guy but these aren't the days when home video sales and rentals could significantly add to the revenue streams. rule of thumb for your average movie is it has to make 2.5 times it's budget to break even.
big budget tent poles have marketing that usually exceed 100 million on top o the budget. also, do you think the studio keeps all of the ticket sales? big studios like disney get a bigger chunk, but it's usually a 60/40 split for the studios domestically and 40/60 overseas, with china keeping 75% of all ticket sales.
marvel has been spending 200 million minimum on their movies over the last 5 years, and dc's lowest was blue beetle at 120. so bb had to make between 350-400 before it was in the black while every marvel movie needs to make over 500 million.

There's nothing made up there. The movies are 100-200 m (in the case of Marvels it's over 200). The marketing budget is 100-200. Theaters take half; overseas they might take even more. And since you're investing money, it's not enough to break even. They're investing money into these movies, they need to make back more than what you can get from the stock market.

In the opening weekend studios typically get 60% of domestic box office. Theatres get around 40%. This is a very significant number.
In the subsequent weeks, that number changes and by the end theatres actually get the majority of revenue.
That changes even worse for the studios overseas where they're lucky to get more than 50% of even the opening weekend.

I dunno what it is exactly, but let's imagine it's like "if a movie does $X in pre-sales, it almost always makes 100x that in total domestic gross". So if it makes $1 million in pre-sales, a movie will more likely than not make $100 million in overall gross. Furthermore, based on all the data of movie released, very rarely does any movie break that trend and make MORE money. I mean, it MIGHT make more... say, positive word of mouth, ironic meme watching, etc., but that's not a likely occurrence.
So based on the initial sales of The Marvels relative to how every other movie has done... unless something happens to make it get super popular out of nowhere, then The Marvels will crash and burn.

I don't want the Iron Man series to end like this. I realized this is what's missing with the new series push. Amidst the dazzling effects and awe inspiring CGI (*snickers*) there's also the heart and soul and spirit. Iron isn't just an element, it's a symbol.

And since you're investing money, it's not enough to break even. They're investing money into these movies, they need to make back more than what you can get from the stock market.
WB is more than just superhero movies, but they are in panic mode. They scrapped an entire movie (Batgirl) for tax reasons. Their new CEO David Zaslav is banking on cheap reality tv. They're selling off assets. James Gunn is supposed to turn the whole thing around with Superman etc.

The datasets it uses to judge this sort of thing has been done on plenty of other movies, if not most movies, and it's usually very accurate. Sometimes you get some crazy word-of-mouth success but lets be honest that isn't going to happen here.
The situation is that movies almost always follow the same formula. I dunno what it is exactly, but let's imagine it's like "if a movie does $X in pre-sales, it almost always makes 100x that in total domestic gross". So if it makes $1 million in pre-sales, a movie will more likely than not make $100 million in overall gross. Furthermore, based on all the data of movie released, very rarely does any movie break that trend and make MORE money. I mean, it MIGHT make more... say, positive word of mouth, ironic meme watching, etc., but that's not a likely occurrence.
So based on the initial sales of The Marvels relative to how every other movie has done... unless something happens to make it get super popular out of nowhere, then The Marvels will crash and burn.

And ruins all the scenes that he's in with what looks to be impro. And Gosling, while being half decent, is just old. Also, it's got really erratic filming, they used too high shutter speed on quick pans and action scenes, and it's nauseating. Plus there's a silly end plot device of brainwashing pushed forward. Still worth watching as a bad movie

I just realized Iron Man and the Super Sentai series have a lot of things similar. I'm not sure which one was the original, but I feel like it's a cultural divergent evolution. Think about it, Power Rangers also became a hit on the US, which leads me to my hypothesis culture is an other dimensional string connection theory we all possess in our spirits, and spirits and souls is another theory in itself, and the Force can either be fictional or real or a manifestation of the other dimension.

What I'm trying to say is, why not make an Iron Man series where in instead of only one main Iron Man character, there would be several. Like there's War Machine and Iron Heart right, but what if there's Steel Fenrir (aka. Iron Boy), Metal Monger (daughter of Obadiah but trying to make up for her father's frick up), Silver Soul, etc. I had this idea a long time ago, I had came up with cool character designs and mech designs and their cool names, but I can't remember them all.
Iron Man isn't just about the armor. There's a reason why there's War Machine to Iron Man, like wise, Robin to Batman, etc.
Iron Man is also about his interaction and relationship with Rhodey, Pepper Potts, the Avengers, etc. This is what I feel like is missing in Marvel's new push for Iron Heart. I don't want the Iron Man series to end like this. I realized this is what's missing with the new series push. Amidst the dazzling effects and awe inspiring CGI (*snickers*) there's also the heart and soul and spirit. Iron isn't just an element, it's a symbol.
