They like it when it’s passably good enough that they can gaslight the goys into agreeing that it’s a masterpiece. Overtly shitty movies are counterproductive in propagating the message.

i think movie studios pay for good reviews with free dinners and vacations for professional critics so somebody did'nt get their perks. The audience reviews mean much more but only after a movie has been released a few years since they can be manipulated as well. But over time the truth comes out.

And people came to watch it for Mario, not Peach. Just like Ryan Gosling is the most memorable part of that Barbie movie.

Mario saves the day at the end. It's not subversive. Try as they might, they can't deviate from the formula that people actually like.

          >notice how all original movies with this shit flop
That's why subversives love appropriating famous IPs to spread their message. Big brands like Mario function like a trojan horse. Now we're seeing it spread to the games with things like redesigning the box art for Princess Peach's solo game to make her look more smug and confident.

Mario was one of the biggest video game franchises ever made. That movie could have had Peach getting beheaded by a muslim bowser and it would have made a billy.

    Its too blatant.

Critics love stuff that they can feel smart about. Its not about making men irrelevant, its about making men feel irrelevant.

Critics need a movie they can write a huge ass article about, in how it subverts expectations PAST its original premise.

This movie is too blatant, it holds no subversive value for them

      Anonymous

No. Nothing is too on the nose for critics. Critics will write glowing 10/10 reviews for absolute garbage so long as the film has an acceptable number of black actors.

If the critics are giving this a bad score, it's either because the film is too white, or it doesn't hate men enough, or it's lacking in quippy humor.

She's under contract with Netflix. I suspect they gave her a list of projects and she chose this one out of the rest of the garbage because it's different from her previous roles.

Millie isn't out there buying scripts to star in, lol.

Idk. Like I said, she approved a script of the many Netflix sent her. I'm sure all the roles were "girl bosses". But that's Netflix's initiative, not hers.

I just watched it and it was good. Netflix spoiled the """twist""" in the trailer, but the dragon girl's voice does things to my 3 daughters.
It was a good change of pace, reminded me of the grimm tales during the first half of the movie.

      >Also MBB looks sexy as frick in the film which the wokescolds hate.
      From a review...

      > She’s further hampered by a tawdry costuming choice: As Elodie makes her escape using tools fashioned from her ornate wedding garb, her outfit grows gradually more revealing. The slow peeling away of the gown’s many layers feels thuddingly obvious: It’s Elodie literally shedding the restrictive trappings of this toxic royal family in particular, and womanhood in general. Yet, rather than achieving some sort of empowered symbolism, by the end of Damsel, Brown looks like she’s doing cut-rate Raquel-Welch-in-One Million Years B.C. cosplay.

They "like" what they're paid to like. If the marketing budget doesn't include enough paid reviews then they get to be honest. Especially if the film is from a company who's ire won't jeopardize the critic's access to shit like advanced viewings and other goodies and benefits.
