This season’s better than the last one, but that’s no huge accomplishment. The writing’s still really, really lazy.
There is a theory that makes the whole show make sense, but its so controversial that every thread gets archived as soon as its posted
Shrink ray?
Nah it's just some /misc/ tier bait that same anon posts in every Westworld thread claiming the entire series is about race.
there are tons of israelites and trannies on /misc/.
Most modern series are about race. It's cliche by definition and they keep doing it.

Getting the pieces in place for S5, the final season
>This season’s better than the last one, but that’s no huge accomplishment. The writing’s still really, really lazy.
Basically this. The first few episodes gave me hope for a big turn-out but it doesn't look to be the case. There is a fundamental problem with a show where literally no one can die and stay dead and now Maeve Am Become Death, Destroyer of Show. She's the fricking "superweapon" after "dying" five minutes earlier.
>Getting the pieces in place for S5, the final season
Is there going to honestly be a season 5? The sets look so terrible compared to season 3. Like the show got a massive budget cut. Plus this whole it takes 2.5 yrs to get a season out lame. When westworld came out everyone was talking about it. Now no one even knows there is a new season
>Getting the pieces in place for S5, the final season
Yeah, not gonna happen, literally lost most than half of its audience after S3.
>This season’s better than the last one
>it was a park all along but this time with flies
>characters with moronic motivations
>dying was irrelevant because characters get to come back whenever the plot decides to rimjob its most moronic part of the audience
>better
was irrelevant
>was made*
>it was a park all along but this time with flies
It's unclear if the city we're shown is the real world or some kind of faux-NYC futureworld park. There is reason to suspect it could be either and you could point to hard evidence. This show tries too hard to set up "mysteries" and "questions" but just comes off as muddled because it has two major flaws: relatively short 10-episode seasons and an audience that is smarter than the writers and are conditioned to expect the show to be smart too.
Take the golfing scene for example: you could look at that and ask why is the VP of the United States traveling with only two henchman body guards and come to the exciting realization that that ISN'T the VPOTUS. It's a park and that's a host who is part of a narrative loop. It's just a story-within-a-story so relax about the two guard austism.
OR you could see that scene and remind yourself that it's just a TV show and they do stupid shit like this all the time because they're lazy and wanted to shoot the scene without a big production. Either of those could be true but the problem is one door leads to the show being more interesting than it is and implies clues were left for the audience to discover.
The pedestrians on the street saying "this places is great" could mean that the city is Futureworld, an amusement park like Westworld, or it could just be two humans commenting on their cool experience in the city. This is what happens when you set up a show like this where death means frick all, people swap bodies, time is indeterminate and apparently irrelevant, and anything can be simulated. What keeps it in check is SCOPE. What's you remove the constraints of a single amusement park, the entire thing becomes incoherent.
nobody knows because everyone stopped watching after s1
I am so confused. Granted, I haven't watched season 3 for a year but I can't remember shit.
So is Hale an ultra evil Delores? Who is this William?
Do we know what Bernarnold is looking for?
>Do we know what Bernarnold is looking for?
You didn't watch the last episode?
I haven't finished episode 4 yet but that answers that thanks.
>There is a fundamental problem with a show where literally no one can die and stay dead and now Maeve Am Become Death, Destroyer of Show. She's the fricking "superweapon" after "dying" five minutes earlier.
I agree. The writing in the beginning of episode 4 where they storm was so shit, it was peak stereotypical action man buddy dialogue. I couldn't believe what I was watching and I'm usually not that picky about that type of thing
I watched season 3 when it came out and I don't even remember what the frick happened. That's what happens with modern films and movies, they are so trash and forgettable
An interesting philosophical meditation became a bizarre girl power fantasy in Season 3. Nolan gave way to Lisa Joy for the good of their marriage perhaps.
The first few episodes of the season just serve to establish that the machines have taken over the world. Also, that all you need to do to save humanity is to cut off the noise towers. The rest of the season will be choreographed fighting in pursuit of pressing that established "win button".
>take Maeve to NY
>remotely disconnect the tower
Bravo Lisa.
>It's hyper encrypted, we need to get a direct line to the mainframe
>the odds of that are 0.0000001%
>So you're saying there's a chance
tb honest there's still 4 episodes left, from the trailers it looks like we're going to see Hale training the humans like they were robots in Westworld (dancing, etc), there's potential for a good episode if they show that part of the story.
This is the same cope everyone had last season.
yeah, I know.
help me with
>So is Hale an ultra evil Delores? Who is this William?
Hale is a Hale bot with Dolores brain ball, she has the mixed personality of S2 Dolores (desire for revenge) and Hale (pure evil).
William is a William bot and apparently he just does what Hale tells him to do.
their plan is to enslave the human race and treat them as they were treated in the park.
Thanks!
>it looks like we're going to see Hale training the humans like they were robots in Westworld (dancing, etc), there's potential for a good episode if they show that part of the story.
I got flamed for point this out but training humans to freeze-frame on command using mind control is just dumb. They're trying to set the flied humans up as just like Hosts but in reverse but so much of that shit is reptilian brain stem shit. They should show humans having seizures or twitching because THEY AREN'T ACTUALLY ROBOTS AND DON'T FREEZE ALL MOTOR FUNCTIONS but they wont because this show is style over substance and "freezing humans" looks cooler even though we've already seen it with the hosts.
>Hale training the humans
The intro for season 4 is different and makes references to season 3s 'rebellious' people sealed away.
I think I see now what they're doing overall for the show. They realized early on that they were screwed on the original concept of the show since S1 had already been set. We will never get the slow-burn robot rebellion kino actually set in the park(s). What they COULD do is flip the script and make the series about humans in the real world rebelling against the robots.
That's sort of what we got but it took an entire season (S2) to even start that and when it does start in S3 it fails to convince the audience to care about Aaron Paul or downtown Singapore as "the real world" or any of that. Even if you did understand what was going on, there is still no reason to care about any of these characters.
Now S4 is straight up flied humans so we're essentially back to S1 only the show is now suspiciously short on humans to care about now that Caleb is a toaster. I am deeply, deeply concerned they're going to ask me to care about this "human rebellion" and Caleb's daughter (who finally became mixed race at around age 30) and that'll be S5, which means it's
>Halores (brown female, bad toaster)
versus
>Frankie (brown female, good human) and Maeve (brown female, good toaster)
with
>"Christine" (white female, neutral toaster)
of as-yet indeterminate importance
Bernard and Stubbs are probably done for soon as they seem to only exist to magically lead the women to exactly what they need (another woman!) and literally do all the digging.
what the hell why does that feel like they are just stealing from movies/shows for this series.. The whole delores and the cell phone. I was waiting for her to answer it like Mr. Anderson.
Noy you talk about Frankie, and its like why does this feel like some john connon bullshit.
Because they are.
This. The season is already halfway over and that's all that they've established. Half of every episode is Aaron Paul standing with his jaw wide open, he actually caught flies in one episode. Everything about the most recent episode was telegraphed already so the 'twist' didn't impress anyone. And most sex appeal has been removed.
Based on last season Delores should be gone forever but of course this season will end with her getting her memories back.
Was anything after the first season even worth watching? feels like it wasnt. yeah, definitely wasnt and should have ended after the first season.
also, you think that the bdsm sex tapes of her subbing for manson will ever leak?
why is her name Evan? Did her dad want a son?
>Was anything after the first season even worth watching?
it's style over substance
yes the writing is dumb but it looks cool and there's an aesthetic consistency
it's kinda like mad men if you remove the good writing and keep the cinematography
except with absolute trash fight scenes added
s02e08 is the best single episode of westworld and i'll die on that hill. you're right though that season 1 is essentially all we needed.
a perfectly fine open end, but the money train has too keep rolling i guess, so here we are with four more seasons.
i've said before in these threads that i think there's enough material in season 2 for a prologue and/or epilogue fan-edit.
i ain't gonna fricking make it though...
>and i'll die on that hill.
Teddy is too good for her
You need to watch a few episodes of S2 to complete the William/Delos story arc (which is still kino) but the rest of S2 is pretty much shit.
>Was anything after the first season even worth watching?
Not really, series would have been perfect kino if it ended on S1.
Stupid nonsense is happening forever.
i started watching and am still on season 1. pretty good so far.
Season 1 is good.
Season 2 is also a good, a fun puzzle box. But, it's setting up for Season 3.
Season 3 is some of the worst TV ever made. See there was this whole plot about Israel being paranoid and building a computer named after a israeli king to manipulate the entire world, unfortunately they got scared and changed it to the French for some reason, but the computer is still named after a israeli king. And then Nolan got bored and left the project so his wife took over and she made a mediocre anime starring Jesse Pinkman.
Season 4 is slightly better than Season 3
>a mediocre anime starring Jesse Pinkman.
fricking kek well said
the producers and crew want another payday
You're watching an american show beyond the first season, after the original creators have already fricked off. That's the problem.
>You're watching an american show beyond the first season
You're posting on an american website beyond the first seethin'
Just watch episode 1 of season 4. Seriously, WTF! The VFX looks like that of a low-budget indy flick. The props look like they went and bought a bunch of stuff from amazon, and I really hope the story improves.
THE WORLD IS A VAMPIRE
Seems like one of the problems with this show is that the humans are such horrible people that there really isn't a reason to care that they've been subjugated. The world might be legitimately better this way.
>humans are such horrible people
no
>boomer enjoys the finest earthly pleasures and excesses the world has to offer
>hands the bill to future generations to paid with revenge and enslavement
>tells himself he's still a good person because look at how he put this dead man's switch into this system and look at how he's setting the world up for abject misery that will only come to pass after he's dead
The thing I love most about the Baby Boomer generation is their knack for making the hard choices for other people.
maybe im misremembering but at the end of season 1 there was only one robot that became sentient. Dolores. Ford programmed the rest to go homicidal as a frick you to the corporation.
Everything after that in the following seasons was inferior retconing and shit attempts to reboot the story around inferior plots.
>only one robot that became sentient. Dolores.
that's debatable. She sure as hell didn't seem very sentient in the final episode following her new narrative to a tee and ending up on that beach in front of the audience right on time.
Can we go back to western stuff???
Show would have been immeasurably better if the shrink ray were canon.
>show about a company that builds wacky robots
>no lewd anthro mouse robot with a shrink-ray
missed opportunity
So who was Rey Skywalker in this masterpiece all along?
Kino is happening
This show is the biggest pleb filter ever
