guns would probably be a civilian tool in the naruto world if they ever were invented. Im guessing kunai are just more versatile to an average ninja than something like a bolt action sniper would be. these guys are fast enough to dodge and anticipate all kinds of wack stuff

Too many retcons and plot holes. I want to enjoy Naruto but besides the powers being cool the show/manga is trash
so if jiraya was in the hotel the entire time naruto was getting kidnapped, why did he just let itachi beat the shit out of sasuke? seriously those two were fighting for like 3 minutes before jiraya finally reveals himself. he even watches sasuke get his ass pummeled across the hotel lobby and placed in a genjutsu before he does anything.
He was just waiting for sasuke to fatigue itachi, after tanking a couple of punches and a tsukuyomi jiriya knew sasuke had done his job and worn down itachi enough. After using amaterasu itachi has to flee because he used up too much stamina in his deathmatch with sasuke.
Itachi being a good guy makes this whole interaction hilarious. He mentally tortured Sasuke again and what was his plan if Jiraiya didn’t show up? Was he just going to hand over Naruto to the Gedo statue. The series really tried too hard to paint him as a saint and brilliant strategist.
He would wait and meander until guy showed up activated the 6th gate to kick kisames ass before leaving
