I doubt current Wolverine in the comics, that Wolverine there and the one from the cartoon are alike in anyway shape or form outside of appearance and name.

Idk what you mean by woke, it was the right kind of woke, but now it is the wrong kind.

The comics having gays is fine, but turning Bobby (iceman) gay was really fricked up.

For example I think Mystique was always kinda bisexual shape shifting something which was fine, since she was always kinda that way.

    What does woke mean anymore

      Anonymous

Nobody knows. It got co-opted by the whites and used for anything and everything. Which is funny, because one of the earliest documented uses of woke was from a NYT article about white folks appropriating and misusing black slang.

    I have a question
I followed x-men religiously until the recent past, I knew so much about them I could have worked as an editor and was very anal about continuity

I dropped out of x-men in the Krakoa event about Sinister turning every one into a Sinister
How are the x-men doing right now? Are they still in Krakoa?
All I know, by accident, is Emma Frost is married to Tony and I really dislike the idea

      Anonymous

The Sinister thing is now relegated to a false future timeline. X-men got their butts kicked and booted off their island by Orchis, while 99.9% of the mutants got shoved through a portal to parts unknown. Now Orchis is somehow a big name faction capable of making big deals with the government, so that the remaining X-men can be scrappy underdogs. Basically, the X-men and X-force teams are doing their own things to undermine Orchis, the Avengers Unity group is doing the same thing while whining at Cap, Storm is still being a queen b***h on Mars, Cyclops is in gay baby Orchis jail, Iceman is being gay in NYC, Nightcrawler is pretending to be Spider-Man in NYC, Firestar's forced to work undercover as a double agent in Orchis, Xavier is being sad and alone on Krakoa, and Beast is being a rogue villain while Logan is trying to sniktbub him.

As far as the Emma Frost thing goes, that's a sham marriage set up to keep Iron Man around to help the X-men out, I wouldn't put too much stock into it beyond maybe laughing at the Emma x Scott shippers at how their waifu left him for money.

It was woke since back when we, that is me and your dads, used to call it "PC". And since MY dad and your grandads used to call it "liberal".
X-Men was always a political allegory for the civil rights movement.
If present day writing seems like hamhanded propaganda, well, it always has been, right back to the days of The Brave and The Bold and Hal getting his ass chewed out by Olly and that old black guy for trying to stop a protest against a slum lord.
And dogwhistling turds like you have always been there too, crying like b***hes, acting like victims because you miss the good old wholesome Norman Rockwell salad days when you could call people Black folk and homosexuals.
Go on, kid. tell us how much you miss Steamboat Bill and Ebony Ivory and Pieface.

Political correctness, which has been around for fricking decades, is about changing the way we speak.

"Stay Woke" was a phrase used for black civil rights activists to stay aware of what was happening and not lose sight of their rights and what they were owed.

To be woke, wokeism, or "woke" has basically nothing to fricking do with "Stay Woke" as it was used in the 30s, 40s, 50s, etc. by black people. The current form of woke started in the 2010s.

                >I. point in the analysis want anything to turn on the word “action,” especially because all speech is action (or conduct) in some sense. But the basic idea is that there appears to exist a distinction between speech and non-‐speech behavior, or between the behavior we designate as “speech” and the behavior we do not.

                >The term “speech” constitutes expression that includes far more than just words, but also what a person wears, reads, performs, protests and more. In the United States, freedom of speech is strongly protected by the First Amendment of the U.S. Constitution, as well as many state and federal laws.

"The phrase stay woke has been present in AAVE since the 1930s. In some contexts, it referred to an awareness of social and political issues affecting African Americans. The phrase was uttered in recordings from the mid-20th century by Lead Belly and, post-millennium, by Erykah Badu."

"The phrase politically correct first appeared in the 1930s, when it was used to describe dogmatic adherence to ideology in authoritarian regimes, such as Nazi Germany and Soviet Russia."

So if I go back to the 1930s and say Stay Woke, they will know I am referring to leftist political ideology and gay and trans rights?

That's crazy. I thought that woke changed in the 2010s completely, but I'm glad an anon on Cinemaphile told me that, no, in fact, Stay Woke has always meant trans rights, even in the 1930s.

Yep, thanks. I didn't even know trans rights were an issue for black Americans in the 30s, but I learned a lot today. Little did I know that the term "Stay woke" was for hormone treatment, homosexuals in media, and women's rights. I genuinely thought it was just for black rights in the 1930s, but I've learned a lot today. Here I was, dumbass me, thinking that wokeism changed in the 2010s and was co-opted by lunatics who took the term from black lives matter. But I didn't know it was always for this kind of stuff, even 100 years ago.

STAY WOKE was what black people used when fighting for equality up to the civil rights movement.

WOKE, or WOKEISM, started in the 2010s, when LGBT and other mentally ill people started screaming that their .04% of the population was actually the most important part of the population.

Chris Claremont was writing not that subtle lesbian allusions in his X-men work in the 80s and even back then he wanted Destiny and Mystique to be Nightcrawler’s biological parents but wasn’t allowed to do so. Censorship of LGBTQ characters back in the day meant that even when you were using allegories for them you weren’t allowed to outright say they were gay. Byrne always intended Northstar to be gay but couldn’t actually say it out loud in the comics.

Well, yeah, duh. There's always subtext that has shown us deeper connections in characters back in the 70s and especially 80s when homosexual stuff was more acceptable. Chris Claremont literally wrote both Storm and Kitty Pryde as bisexual and was only stopped from making it textual by editorial enforcing the comics code authority.
