Anon, the showrunner was right that those comics were awful and did awful things to those characters. Sometimes you need someone in the room with enough emotional and intellectual distance from the source material to just point out when something is bad and you don't actually want or need to adapt it just because "it happened in the comics and it was important there".
It's still one of the most popular of the Disney+ MCU shows, got nominated for a lot of awards, and reached audiences who wouldn't normally have watched a Marvel show. Anon, the showrunner was right that those comics were awful and did awful things to those characters. Sometimes you need someone in the room with enough emotional and intellectual distance from the source material to just point out when something is bad and you don't actually want or need to adapt it just because "it happened in the comics and it was important there".
It's still one of the most popular of the Disney+ MCU shows, got nominated for a lot of awards, and reached audiences who wouldn't normally have watched a Marvel show.
