You’d need a whole season of a show to explain everything about Xorn, but I do think he’ll be in the show. They may even double bluff it and make him not Magneto.

Even in this episode when Nightcrawler mentioned Magneto it broke her again and made her start crying. The narrative is even telling us that Magnetos grooming on Rogue worked because she’s done sparring humans now.

Well, he married and had a son with her clone first, but he didn't know it was a clone so it's complicated. And Jean had most of her memories scrambled by Sinister so she wasn't all that normal either.
In this episode, they seem to be setting up that Jean is becoming more accepting of the fact that Scott had feelings for Madeline and that he's still grieving the loss of that relationship and the loss of their son. Instead of getting mad that Scott was expecting to find Madeline in the rubble instead of Emma, Jean comforts him. If they keep this up (her acting like a supportive friend instead of a jealous ex), then they could eventually pair Scott up with someone else without making him look too bad.
I hope how people ended up reading that spat. Jean wasn't mad that Scott had feelings for Madeline, she was mad that he was intentionally going behind her back to tele-frick Madeline all the while avoiding her while she tried to figure out how much of her life was really hers. He was essentially abandoning her all the while pretending he wasn't. She even says before her make out session with Logan that Scott was avoiding her but she was ok with it because she assumed he was grieving (alone).

Gambit is a fun character and he has interesting powers, but Nightcrawler, Rogue, Storm and Wolverine are all way more popular than him.
Gambit's way more popular than Nightcrawler, especially with normies BECAUSE of the 90s cartoon. Especially given that during the franchise's heyday, Kurt was permanently exiled to Excalibur, IE the book no one read and which Bob Harras kept alive long after it became a zombie franchise, purely because he felt canceling it would make him look bad as line editor.
Nightcrawler got a boost because of X-Men Evolution and Wolverine and the X-Men (his best appearance probably) and to a lesser extent, the live action movies. Gambit appeared in both of those animated shows too, but his role was massively reduced.
Nightcrawler's one con popularity wise is not being part of the team during arguably the X-men's most notable period, but he has longevity and consistency that Gambit does not have. Gambit was a flash in the pan, very popular in the 90s, but burnt out afterwards. Kurt was a classic long before he was introduced and remained a staple long after he the 90s. It's not even close.

And that Sinister eventually decided if he can't have Scott, he'd steal Scott's son per Sinister having a thing for breeding mutants to get more powerful mutants to serve as slaves and creating Maddie to replace Jean when Jean died. Also, Sinister's villain form being a golem he remote controlled from a distance (as was Gambit supposed to be a replacement golem form for Sinister).

In this episode, they seem to be setting up that Jean is becoming more accepting of the fact that Scott had feelings for Madeline and that he's still grieving the loss of that relationship and the loss of their son. Instead of getting mad that Scott was expecting to find Madeline in the rubble instead of Emma, Jean comforts him. If they keep this up (her acting like a supportive friend instead of a jealous ex), then they could eventually pair Scott up with someone else without making him look too bad.
I hope how people ended up reading that spat. Jean wasn't mad that Scott had feelings for Madeline, she was mad that he was intentionally going behind her back to tele-frick Madeline all the while avoiding her while she tried to figure out how much of her life was really hers. Roberto and Jubilee visit Roberto's mother and tell her that he is a mutant. She asks him to keep his identity a secret. In Madripoor, the X-Men learn that Sinister and a mysterious "OZT" organization have been developing a highly advanced Sentinel program. Rogue drops Trask to his death, unknowingly activating programming that turns him into a human-Sentinel hybrid. Cable arrives, defeats Trask, and explains that Sinister is working with a greater threat that they must stop. This threat is Bastion, who reveals to Sinister that Xavier is alive in space and that Magneto, presumed dead in the Genosha attack, is also alive and is Bastion's prisoner.

Especially given that during the franchise's heyday, Kurt was permanently exiled to Excalibur, IE the book no one read and which Bob Harras kept alive long after it became a zombie franchise, purely because he felt canceling it would make him look bad as line editor.
Nightcrawler got a boost because of X-Men Evolution and Wolverine and the X-Men (his best appearance probably) and to a lesser extent, the live action movies. Gambit appeared in both of those animated shows too, but his role was massively reduced.

Canon answer? Sinister got his powers via Apocalypse and rather than work for Apocalypse for eternity (since Apocalypse made Sinister immortal) Sinister wants to kill Poccy so he can conquer the world himself.
So Sinister began a mutant breeding program to create a mutant powerful enough to kill Apocalypse and came to the conclusion that Scott and Jean's kid would be powerful enough to kill Apocalypse.
Long answer? Claremont originally conceived Sinister as a mutant immortal cursed with the drawback that he only aged one year per every ten years. Sinister took over the orphanage he got trapped in because of his childlike appearance and got into super science and became obsessed with Scott when he was a kid that got warehoused in said orphanage and developed a sick crush on him, made worse when it became apparent that Scott wanted nothing to do with him and was desperate to be adopted (leading to Sinister killing a couple who wanted to adopt him and mindraping a newly hired nurse that was trying to facilitate said dream of Scott being adopted, so she would turn cold and unloving towards Scott). And when that failed to win Scott to his side, Sinister just started bullying the shit out of Scott until he had to go into hiding due to Scott getting older but Sinister not. And that Sinister eventually decided if he can't have Scott, he'd steal Scott's son per Sinister having a thing for breeding mutants to get more powerful mutants to serve as slaves and creating Maddie to replace Jean when Jean died. Also, Sinister's villain form being a golem he remote controlled from a distance (as was Gambit supposed to be a replacement golem form for Sinister).

Doesn't seem to be a time limit but a solid hit from Sentinel Trask knocked him out of it. He seems to be more like comic book Exiles Morph. He can copy powers but without training he's not as good. Psychical stuff is ok but he needs to figure out how to use energy, physics or exotic powers. Still though he should be defaulting to blob + colossus + strong guy. Punch things good with invulnerability is pretty simple

It's been a hot minute since I've watched X-Men TAS, but was it ever actually part of the whole 90s Marvelverse? One would think Silver Surfer would've noticed the Pheonix Force rising up, or somebody going to check out the "Vampire" of New York or something

Fair enough. Doesn't really explain Silver Surfer, since not only does he make the most sense to get involved with Pheonix Force hoopla, but also had his own show. Albeit one that didn't last very long, but it existed .
X-Men and Spider-Man are supposed to be the same universe
The wiki says Iron Man/Fantastic Four/Ghost Rider/Hulk cartoons can't take place in the same universe as Spider-Man/X-Men because Captain America is shown as an active Avenger at that time, among other things, but I wonder if that will change with this new X-Men episode
Silver Surfer cartoon isn't part of the same continuity as any of these, because they ignored the Fantastic Four episodes with Surfer in them, and were planning to reveal that the Fantastic Four got their powers due to the Surfer's battle with Galactus letting off cosmic rays.

They are merging everything, and explain that All of SM happened in 1994-1995, and the later cartoons happened from 1995 and onwards once peter got his way off with the Beyonder and the first Spiderverse event.
