Well, it's a good start I suppose.
90's X-Men are so fricking overrated. Any 80's lineup wipes the floor with them.
True, but most people know the x-men from that cartoon.
No, they know them from the movies. Movies reach a far wider audience than cartoons.
>lineups
if the show dropped cyclops, wolverine and jean grey, there'd be more room for nightcrawler, colossus and shadowcat.
anyone who uses the term "overrated" in any capacity should be shot
Oh frick off, if anything the 90s gets over HATE by dullards who just want to point at Liefeld.
xmen TAS pretty much chooses the most interesting designs for each character.
>Any 80's lineup wipes the floor with them.
can we stop pretending the outback lineup didn't fricking suck.
Perfection in a page.
What the frick is up with Jean's hair?
It was the 80s.
That's Rachel Summers
Rachel in her G.I.Jane period
This, but for Rogue's hair.
Muh punk mohawk was a thing, blame British punk
yeah, literally any of the new mutants are better characters than cyclops, jean or wolverine
>don't need two furry blue guys
they're both good characters and a running gag about them being related just because they're blue could lead to jokes and shenanigans
>colossus isn't valuable
well he's more valuable than cyclops, jean or wolverine that's for damn sure
>well he's more valuable than cyclops, jean or wolverine that's for damn sure
No
Hating the most popular characters doesn't make you cool and interesting, bro.
>well he's more valuable than cyclops, jean or wolverine that's for damn sure
Show you work, anon. How do you actually believe this?
God, Jim Lee and Bobs Harras really killed the X-Men.
That's Art Adams not Jim Lee.
Second post best post.
>can we stop pretending the outback lineup didn't fricking suck.
Shit taste.
>Shit taste.
name a single good arc
the outback era
It's certainly a better idea than looking at anything more recent for inspiration. But it does suggest they are indeed seeing X-Men as a 90s nostalgia brand, not the thing that's going to carry the MCU, like X-Men fans want it to be.
It makes sense though, X-men was at peak popularity during this era so if you're banking on people liking them going back to that point is a good idea.
90s era X-Men was running on the fumes of what Claremont laid down in the 70s and 80s.
No it wasn't. For better or worse, when Claremont was kicked to the curb, the X-Men were finally reunited after 2 years of the team being scattered across the globe plus saw X-Factor being reintegrated into the X-Men proper and all major storylines wrapped up.
X-Men #1/Uncanny #281 was a HUGE entry level moment for the franchise, as far as being the ultimate new reader jump on point for the franchise and an entire generation of X-Men fans. And at the same time, you had PAD's X-Factor and X-Force starting at the same time and Hama himself finally making Wolverine's solo book readable and Return to Weapon X (Wolverine #48-50) being another soft reboot jump on point for new readers.
Not even the early 2000 era or Krakoa era came close to this period bringing in new readers.
>the ultimate new reader jump on point for the franchise and an entire generation of X-Men fans.
for 3 years of comics before lobdell rapes the franchise into submission?
No, there are better costume designs to use.
It's like watching the Batman cartoons where they insist on using mulletwing. Move on already.
I mean that would be nice,
but i'm still not watching the new show until they go back to race-blind voice casting
you mean literally the only good Dick design? what's wrong with you. you want LESS hair? why? Do you think Lex Luthor is really cool or something? More hair is better than less hair, ya dingus.
cringe
If we actually get 90's X-Men costumes in live-action, I'll be very happy.
But isn't Deadpool 3 already doing that? Guess they don't want to waste that on just one movie?
The line up fricking sucked. They need to get rid of mutant Kissinger and replace him with Kurt at the very least to make it work better.
which one is mutant kissinger?
also yes kurt should always be involved, but i liked him all the more for being rare
Beast
>mutant kissinger
you mean magneto?
it's 90s beast, not shitty writers from bendis onward
i absolutely hate that homosexual
>Jim Lee designs rather than John Byrne designs
Boooooo!
John Byrne didn't design costumes for many of those characters, did he? He was mostly working with the wienerrum designs, and just got to design early Kitty and side characters like Alpha Flight and the Hellfire Club.
The only design (for a member of the X-Men) Byrne did was Wolverine's brown costume IIRC
Dazzler first appeared in the Byrne-era X-Men, but Byrne didn't design her
Kitty's uniform is just basically the old yellow X-uniform from the 60s
I don't remember who designed Angel's red suit though
But yes he did design Alpha Flight and the Hellfire Club and others
>Byrne did was Wolverine's brown costume IIRC
I was trying to remember when that costume first appeared but couldn't remember if it was in the Byrne run or afterwards.
>Dazzler first appeared in the Byrne-era X-Men, but Byrne didn't design her
No, she just made her debut there, and had guest appearances in several other books to try and build up interest before her solo book launched.
>I don't remember who designed Angel's red suit though
I think the design dates back to the Neal Adams era, though there have been red and blue versions of it.
>I was trying to remember when that costume first appeared but couldn't remember if it was in the Byrne run or afterwards.
It was in that Alpha Flight and Wendigo story that Byrne and Claremont did
Sounds like something they'd say to artificially raise people's hopes for it.
>X-Men: The Animated Series will be Marvel Studios’ main reference for the MCU X-Men in terms of characters, designs and characterization
So another adaptation that massively under utilizes Colossus and Nightcrawler?
>So another adaptation that massively under utilizes Colossus
And nothing of value was lost
>and Nightcrawler?
They don't need two furry blue guys, Beast is the better-known character with casuals and normies.
>They don't need two furry blue guys, Beast is the better-known character with casuals and normies.
Maybe but Nightcrawler's distinct form of teleportation is a great for fight sequences
And he's a very versatile character, goes from Christian, to Pirate, to magic settings seamlessly. And his relationship with Mystique is rife with potential drama
Beast's genius stuff could go to other characters like Kitty or Forge or idk Monet if we're still in the 90s

The guy who posted these is claiming "Motendo" is about Jubilee and Sunspot trapped in a video game made by Mojo, and that Sinister teams up with Bastion.
>The guy who posted these is claiming "Motendo" is about Jubilee and Sunspot trapped in a video game made by Mojo, and that Sinister teams up with Bastion.
Missed opportunity to use Arcade, last I checked Mojo's death traps are usually movie/tv show themed.
No one likes Arcade, Chris
All the mofos writing the current comics do, they keep bringing him back.
and look at the state of the industry
I've read some of the recent issues with Arcade in them, they're the least shit thing marvel has put out.
>Tolerance is Extinction
That's not the right line, it's "the rewards of tolerance are treachery and betrayal".
That's too long for an episode title though.
>sinister teams up with bastion
now THAT sounds moronic
>both try to outdoublecross each other
could be kino
Kinda lame but expected. Theshow's lineup was not even the best usage of the x-men in the 90s.
It's a great starting point for the characters, but I hope they're not just doing the same stories we've seen before.
This. We need more scifi esque stories and mutant villains in the next live action version of X-Men.
I liked the 90s stories honestly, I would LOVE to see a full Age of Apocalypse and Zero Tolerance adaptation.
Also the whole space adventures with Anime Magnetoroth
give me apocalypse and onslaught and im happy
>Dead on Arrival
They've already destroyed Madelyne Pryor's look, she wears a conservative black costume just like in Kevin Feige's X-Men films, they said they were going to be faithful to the comics and the first thing they do is destroy the characters' costumes if they've done that expect even worse things
You only have yourself to blame if you actually expected disney to be ok with their girls running around in lingerie. Wouldn't be surprised if they change Emma even after showing off her TAS design in the early advertisement.
they want to turn a male brand into a woke feminist brand, it's like making Barbie a male brand, that way they will never get women to consume these MCU and Marvel products, they should be humble women in comics are like in real life, those who are in fantastic shape like to show skin, but it's easy to see that among these people there are no women like that with then, so they'll never understand this concept
if they change the costumes in this way it is the biggest sign that they will change, ethnicities, personality, gender and sexual option, disney was the worst thing that happened to marvel comic book fans
Seems like a safe pick. TAS had diversity modern Disney wants, normie known characters, and is a nostalgia bait.
Evolution is better
Evolution was baby town garbage
They are the most well known outside the fox films, not bad, pretty iconic
Good.
This is what the public at large thinks of when they think of the X-Men, so that absolutely makes sense. (and maybe it'll make Marvel fricking undue all the Krakoan Age overcomplicated sci-fi bullshit!)
>This is what the public at large thinks of when they think of the X-Men
Nah.
they do think of this Wolvie, Jean, Magneto, Xavier and Mystique but all of the others are known for the cartoon designs, they were THAT forgetable in the movies
>movie design Mystique
Can they memoryhole that already?
The first one was hot
Doubt they'd do both Storm and Rogue (with full powers), the two are powerhouses that would make most of the members redundant. Plus connecting her with Captain Marvel might be a barrier to entry. Gambit also feels like a character perfectly built for sequel bait.
Not if it means more Wolverine wank.
They'd better include my waifu and not try any funny business
Or X-Men '97 will just be its own thing with maybe a small connection
didney/marvel making a good call in current year?
I'll believe it when I see it
