They either figure X-men will bring people back after all the gay horseshit has run its course, or maybe they’re skittish because their marketing data says X-men “skews male” since it’s mostly women still paying to see movies

they want as much time to pass as possible since whoever they get for these movies won't be as loved as patrick stewart and jackman. actually they might be waiting for stewart to die lol.

        Anonymous

There's already been a major recast for most of the X-Men characters and most of those recasts were fairly well received. I don't think they're worried about replacing Stewart a third time. There does seem to be a lot of attention on who they're going to get for Wolverine.

      Anonymous

Isn't that only around 3-4 years though? We're already in Phase 4 and they shit out these movies twice to three times a year with tv shows to boot.

Probably. There is also the chance they just don't know how to make them work within the MCU or in general. The Fantastic Four aren't popular anymore. Nobody gives a damn about any of the X-Men outside Wolverine. They also can't totally retread the existing movies all of which cover multiple approaches to the X-Men and FF forming. The only advantage they have is they can mix other teams and heroes into their stories where it fits, but they have also already lost most of their beloved characters, and likely will have lost even more by then.

        >There is also the chance they just don't know how to make them work within the MCU or in general.
Think of how they've never tried to set up or plant seeds for mutants. I bet that they had a plan to introduce them earlier on, but changed their origins from mutant to occult, and scrapped that because of the fan backlash it would cause

I get that the anti-mutant movement is supposed to be especially extreme, largely out of genuine fear because their worst fears do happen, but I wonder if any point in writing and inking that page anyone thought 'Is this too much of a caricature?'. Oh, who am I kidding, nobody who works at modern Marvel Comics even knows what caricature means.

              >But when the Inhumans were around the world with their magical murder fart everyone was gathering around to suck their dicks and get farted on

As far as everyone knew, including all but 2 of the Inhumans initially, the fart cloud wasn't intentional, was harmless to the overwhelmingly vast majority of humans, had a chance to give you superpowers, had a low chance of killing you, was escapable, and the Inhumans were working on a way to fix things.

Anon said that they were "ace in the holes" despite Ant-Man 2, which was released during the world's largest sporting event, outgrossing Logan. You know, Wolverine? The only X-Man that people allegedly give a shit about? The one whose movies typically did "eh" at best before Logan? All of whom, even Logan, did worse than fricking Thor: Dark World?

Some people are grossly overestimating the X-Men hype, especially since we have historical evidence staring us in the face that audiences generally didn't give as much of a shit when they were still being released.

It's more that they have a proven track record and are seen as a safe bet.

The problem is that you can't actually breed mutants. They don't breed true to type, they don't pass on powersets, and the x-gene is under no evolutionary pressure to select for beneficial, or even benign, mutations because it typically doesn't activate until sexual maturity or shortly afterwards.

Beak and Angel's kids all had their mother's powers, but their hypothetical grandkid only had a vague similarity to Beak regarding avian physiology and nothing related to Angel. TJ shares her dad's physiology, but her superpowers are bodily possession and energy blasts. While we're on the subject, Nightcrawler has his dad's powers, but not his appearance and lacks any of his mother's mutations - while they're both blue, Kurt is blue because he's covered with fur while Mystique has blue-colored skin.

It's getting pretty funny how desperate the MCU is padding out with the bottom of the barrel Z-tiers like the Eternals and Shang while using the bigger ones like F4 like a carrot on a stick for those that still following this stuff. Seeing MCU post-phase3 reminds me of how Disney killed the general interest in the stsr wars IP

It's because they know that giving us the F4 and X-men handled by actual competent writers and directors, and not racially or politically subverting them, is the key to continued success - but they would rather crash and burn on 'the right side of history' than ever do that. Look what they did to Luke, Leia, Han, and now Obi-Wan. It's tragic in a way.

I dont get it. Time and again, it's proved that audiences and critics prefer shows that are directed by passionate and talented directors/writers while being untouched by current day politics. I always assumed that a soulless corporation like disney would prefer to go where the money lies but the onky thing I can assume is that the vocal minority of twitter users and activist tgat get into the industry convince them that this is profitable despite all the proof against it.

Look at this from the perspective of the general normie public, not from the perspective of a lifelong comic fan with opinions on which characters are "important".

To the normie, F4 had 2 movies in the 2000s you probably weren't interested in and didn't see, and a bomb reboot in the 2010s you definitely didn't care about seeing. The X-Men had some moderately successful but mostly not blockbuster tier movies in the 2000s and 2010s, and you might have seen some of them, there's a chance you saw none of them, and you'd definitely checked out before the end. You're more likely to have seen the Deadpool spinoff movies than an actual X-Men movie. No amount of nerds online insisting these characters are popular and important is going to make it so with people who didn't really care than much over the last 20 years. Disney need to wait a good long time for people to forget the failures of the later F4 and X-Men movies, and are going to need to cast some big name stars as the draws.

Do you have actual serious expectations of an X-Men movie not being at all political or racial?

Does the general public still have any expectations or goodwill left for the MCU? The quality of their movies since the infinity war saga dropped hard and the D+ series are doing the property no favors by boring people with far too much CW-tier content.

Even after all these years X-Men is still popular enough to be their ace in the hole after all the shit

Which is why they were such massive hits when they were still releasing alongside the MCU, right?

I mean, First Class, Future Past, Logan and the two Deadpools were released at the same time as MCU movies and they all did well.

          Anonymous

Anon said that they were "ace in the holes" despite Ant-Man 2, which was released during the world's largest sporting event, outgrossing Logan. You know, Wolverine? The only X-Man that people allegedly give a shit about? The one whose movies typically did "eh" at best before Logan? All of whom, even Logan, did worse than fricking Thor: Dark World?

Some people are grossly overestimating the X-Men hype, especially since we have historical evidence staring us in the face that audiences generally didn't give as much of a shit when they were still being released.

Entertainment corporations are more concerned with what 10,000 twitter people might say as opposed to what 10,000,000 people aren't watching.

      Cool, frick corporations.
This gives way to independent studios.
Shame Netflix is on the same boat, it would be nice if a big name would finance independent projects with a small budget to see if any them stick. It would be one hell of an era.

They should had made Infinity War a trilogy and focused on delivering as many MCU movies they could shove during that time, then never bring that shit again and moved entirely onto Star Wars.

Now it feels these movies keep lingering way past the point anyone cared for them. I do not understand whose is the audience now.

Disney will continue to have 6-7 of the top 10 grossing films for the next few years. They have a good chance at #1-3 this year, despite Tom.

It would end up being another Eternals. Unless they managed to cast another RDJ or Evans it would be just another scoop on the pile. The MCU isn't lacking characters, it's lacking good ones, with good and charismatic actors.

          Anonymous

Nah, the Eternals crapped out because they chose a poor director (for the material) and tried to do too much story dump.
We already know all the multiverse/timeline crap.

Once they age out like the current Avengers, there's not gonna be much left so it's probably wise to just turn into the X-Men universe at that point.

I will never care about marvelshit when it's not X-men. Just to let you know.

I did not watch The Avengers movies.
The Spiderman movies don't look interesting to me.
I only watched Guardians of The Galaxy 1 (it was okay).
I was dragged to see Thor: Ragnorak and Captain Marvel, I was unimpressed by the latter and the former was ok but I wouldn't watch again.

    If you're not doing X-Men I don't care.

    Just to let you know.

watch it be onslaught, then they do heroes reborn and separate the mutants and avengers again

a capitalist corporation like the mouse isn't going to try to raise a line of super heroes that's a criticism of social darwinism or has characters like beast that are politically subversive. at best they'll keep pushing logan and cyclops because generic white guy shit and only take risks with changing ethnicities of lesser known characters despite the fact that there is already diversity in the mutant community.

they don't give two shits about diversity, otherwise there'd be x-men movies with just x-women like Storm, Dr. Cecilia Reyes, Jubilee, M, Danielle Moonstar, Karma, and Shard. lines about "girl power" wouldn't even be necessary, but the mouse is a coward

introducing x-men through their own universe merging with the canon mcu one during secret wars and thereafter is the only way to go. The whole mutandom actuallly having been around in main mcu but hidden, like the eternals is absurd.
