The airline may not continuously oblige you though, and eventually may add charges or you'll have to pay a premium to get booked on to certain flights.
The issue will be, when you don't have a boarding pass for a future flight. I'd dare say you could live in the airport for over a week before you have issues. Again, large ones. Small ones, not gonna fly.
The way to extend your stay is losing your passport. Now, this is HIGHLY dangerous. You will potentially get detained if they suspect you intentionally lost it to stay in the airport. Depending on the country, they can still process and arrest you and now you're out of the airport and in their jail system while you are forced to file for a temporary passport and then shoved on a flight back to where you belong. The premise of the movie being, no government and no country to send this man back to. If you're a US citizen in a US airport, this has a much lower chance of working.
If you have the money and the balls and the conditions were right, as there's other factors, the demeanor of security, the airport and state/country you are in. I'd say, even in the US, you could get away with almost a full month of living in an airport. As long as you are not a problem, no one will do anything. Asking for spare change and trying to get "odd jobs" around the airport? Eating out of the trash? No. This raises concerns and you'll get detained and arrested. you'll need to buy your own food in the airport, and without money, you'll starve.

The romance subplot felt boring, cheesy and tacked on. Every second wasted on that just made me want to get back to the central story. There was already a cheesy romance subplot involving another character, did we really need another?
