I have not paid attention to Star Wars at all since the prequel trilogy. The only other Star Wars media I've ever consumed was some of the games (KOTOR and KOTOT 2, but not TOR)
I haven't seen any of the sequel trilogy, because the moment I saw the trailer it just looked like the same shit we always see (Jedi, Empire, Force, lightsabers, doomsday weapon, Good Vs Evil) so I lost interest. I also haven't seen a single episode of any of the TV shows, because they also all look the same
I don't understand the people who are obsessed with Star Wars, because it just seems like a retread of the same tropes, over and over again and the stories themselves are fairly oversimplistic "hero beats the big bad evil guy to save the universe" tales that aren't really relatable. I also don't get the people who obsessively despise the new sequel trilogy either, while being nostalgic over the prequel trilogy or the originals, because they just all feel like a regurgitation of everything we've seen before. If the main character was a male, and most of the major characters were white men it wouldn't change anything, it would still fundamentally be a retread of the same universe with the same cliches and tired ideas.
