This is a shitty message. They could have focused it to be more specific to choosing to use your destructive abilities for good, but they didn't do that which is bad writing. You should excel at being who you are instead of trying to make up who you are and LARPing as that made up person.
People in the animation industry hated John K for criticizing this movie and they identify with it because they are never their authentic selves, they are always LARPing according to what the animation industry finds acceptable behavior. For example, no offensive jokes
This movie helped produce certain negative societal trends.
People in the industry call people who care about others that - including their real personalities.
Ironically if you dislike this movie's message most likely you reject lgbt.
Imagine getting filtered by the iron giant
The movie was a failure and did not resonate with most people. On this board people used to always talk about hating when Cartoon Network aired it all day once.
Turns out most people do not want to choose to be a different person than who they are.

According to who
According to most normal people of course that would show actual non bias polls but that doesn't fit media narrative. Hell you'd be surprised to find out that the majority of the lgb actually hate the t aspect of it and absolutely find it a mental illness and see it as an objective unhealthy lifestyle. Of course city trash like you only hang(lol) around other people of the same ilk as you to reinforce your mindset. But go on call me le chud and whatever word that ends in 'ist' or 'phobic' I forget that Tumblr and Twitter refugees post here
The message is more nuanced than that. He was built as a weapon to destroy and hurt others and was stigmatized as such by everyone, yet he chose to fight against the odds and embrace what he learned from the earthlings that gave him a chance instead even if that meant giving up his life.
>Like who
Who media and schools tell you to be duh.
Lol
I mean he decided to pretend he was a business owned construct.
Not a good man or what a good hero would be.
By the way. If you consider the robot a male human but take offense to me saying to be a good man rather then being superman, then you're a lost cause.

I don't consider him a male human. I don't take offense to you, either
That's the point, he isn't even supposed to be smart enough to be a sentient being, everyone expects that the giant is just a mindless planet crunching machine and is splattered all over his body and him not doing that is supposed to be a malfunction, a failure to his design. Ye he didn't crunch the planet. He chose to not be that, to embrance what he learnt instead of what he is supposed to be and everyone believe he is.
>meant to tell people kids they can choose what type of a person they are. be it a hero who saves lives and protects the weak, or a villain that destroys all and takes as they please >troons:"OMG IM A GRL owo"
Worse than that, the movie goes out ot its way to show how the giant embraces what he is and finds a purpose beyond the stereotype of being a mindless war machine, just for grown ass morons acting like stereotypical "kawaii" b***hes to latch on the empty words without the context.
I can choose who I want to be in any situation. Everything can be effed up when it comes to that. I have autism btw

Should state that and dismiss misuse of the message to push negative narratives.
But they don't

Superman has laser vision. He could have taken out the nuke without flying into it with a beam. Just Saiyan.
