Shin is a better character right now because:
- her look is unique and iconic
- her vibe and essence are distinct
- there’s plenty of mystery regarding her past and her motivations
- Baylon is one of the few high quality characters created by Disney Star Wars, and his relationship with Shin is interesting
- the show isn’t aggressively pushing Shin down people’s throats, it’s letting her chill and grow into audience appreciation on her own

You can't carry an entire show on Kenobi and Vader meeting, there isn't enough meat there. They only shared the screen for a few minutes across six or however many episodes, and even that felt overdone like it should have been reduced to one encounter. You need a character like Reva to help carry a plot forward.

We see an awesome "crossover" fight of sorts, seeing Prequel Trilogy Obi-Wan fighting Original Trilogy Vader. This series was already selling itself. I'm not saying you can't have other characters and other things happening in the show, of course there should be. But Reva was less "another character to help the plot move along" and more "she kept fighting Obi-Wan for position of main character," which was unacceptable. If you watched the Loki Disney+ series at all, she was basically Sylvie - The person the show is trying to make us give a shit about, even though it's not her name in the title.
Reva is actually pretty visually striking, feminine but still threatening, her armor and stature make her imposing without making her seem overdone or robotic ala Vader. Not every female character needs to boil down to whether you find them "hot" or not, and frankly Shin might lose that battle too, not everybody likes the same things.

Disney´s track record when it comes to respecting SW cinematographic identity and narrative style is pretty bad but Kenobi cinematography is plain simple technically incompetent and amateurish. Composition and tone are atrocious. I´ve seen fan short films better than that.
Meanwhile Ahsoka is the second time any Disney wars piece of media actually bothered to try to look like a SW piece of media. It´s still a hit and a miss but it´s worlds apart from Kenobi. (First time was S01 of the Mandalorian).
Also just like Mandalorian took after western tropes Ahsoka takes after some old Samurai film ideas and concepts, which, as we all know are some of the elements that inspired Lucas when he was working on his films. It´s not perfect by any means but Filoni and Favreau have at least shown the intention to make SW that reads like SW.

Also, the Direction and scene blocking and overall filmmaking quality was community access-tier quality.

Reva is haughty and ugly, and her scenes had terrible directing and choreography. Her lightsaber scenes and action scenes were laughable. She was loud and get on everyone's nerves. She looked nothing like an inquisitor, inquisitors look edgy with weird makeup or helmets or deformities, this was just a sassy black woman in a black costume.
The Kenobi show was also something fans asked for long a time, many wanted to scratch that Obiwan itch and explore his connection to Vader after shit went down. What we instead got was a Reva trojan horse trying to lead to a spinoff for her by letting her hijack the show. And she's ugly and haughty to boot. No wonder people were pissed.

They don't know how to write good main characters:

It is the same reason why the sequel trilogy didn't use New Republic vs. First Order and had the Resistance instead. They don't know how to properly write a decent capable character without nerfing them for "depth". Usually a character would grow but they can't write growth arcs so instead have nerf and then undo the nerf; like Obi Wan seemed nerfed and then in final battle against Vader was strong again without the real emotional arc to justify it.

See, I didn't hate any part of it even though they caught most of the flack. My issue is they can't create characters or character arcs in any of these shows that carry any weight. It is like the showrunners are telling you there is an arc but not actually showing you the arc in the thing they made. They go from point A to C. Point B is where you can explore the journey and the world and whatever. Boba Fett made it seem like Tatooine has about 50 people max living on it. You spend all this time with flashbacks with Tuskens for not much payoff.
Frick, bring in the AI scripts at this point because these people have no fricking idea how to write a fricking character. And I am not even mentioning how all these show plots have been so basic and bland.

>the search for the mcguffin leads the good guys to the fortress inquisitorus via sea travel, they escape it by breaking the glass to let the water in as a distraction
>Vader cameo where he disposes of the female inquisitor just as she turns back to the light, the jedi fends Vader off and escapes
This is roughly the premise of both JFO and Kenobi. Difference is that JFO released in 2019 and was written by competent writers including Chris Avellone, while Kenobi came out in2022 and copied JFO's story very shamelessly and very poorly. Imagine having to use a videogame from the same exact canon as your script for a Kenobi show, and shitting out a much worse story than the videogame.

They introduce the character with her own partner an inquisitor, a fellow servant of the empire (the bad guys) telling her she needs to calm her shit down and she's going to hard on the peasants.
Shin is fairly quiet and mainly does what she's told? And even when she disagrees she heeds her masters advice.
Reva thought she could take Vador in a one on one fight, Shin recognizes she's outnumbered and out matched and runs when she sees the opportunity.

Never watched Ashoka but Reva was legitimately a terrible character and terribly acted as well. If the white chick is anything like her then she needs to be shit on in the same way.
