It being wacky is what makes it good. Its a fun racing movie that is over the top
But is it good?
No. It's faithful and pretty, but only "good" in a "look how especially cold and lifeless it feels despite all the action" kind of wSvm2pay.

How does Speed not know his older brother Rex is obviously Racer X?
X had plastic surgery.
He does figure it out, which is why the reveal that he's not actually his brother except he actually is but had plastic surgery is fricking crazy and great
this movie is good simply because of Royalton, the guy is the owner of one of the biggest automotor companies in that world, he doesn't care about car racing or winning, he only cares about using racing as propaganda to create more profits for his company, all the other car racing owners are companies that do the same and have an alliance with Royalton, Speed Racer is part of just a small self owned family bussiness that just loves car racing too much, the father is a genius that creates a perfect engine system, Royalton wants to buy the patents and use them for his company to get richer
