      >b-movie berserk
      sounds fricking kino bro

I wouldn't make a movie. I would make the first season of a Berserk tv series instead. Black swordsman arc, 6 episodes
      >Episode 1 adapts chapter 1: The Black Swordsman
      >Episode 2 adapts chapter 2 : The Brand
      >Episode 3 adapts chapter 3 plus a little bit of 4
      >Episode 4 adapts the rest of chapter 4
      >Episode 5 adapts chapter 5 and 6
      >Episode 6 starts with the Griffith battlefield flashback from chapter 8 and adapts the rest of chapter 7 and 8 chronologically
Season ends with Guts crying and limping out of the castle.I would go full slowborn darksouls bonechilling atmospheric kino, and drag the pacing out a bit by focusing on the scenery to fill in the time slots, and spend most of the money on production and cast some rando unknown bodybuilder dude as Guts. Then get a bugger budget and save Golden Age arc for a 13 episode season 2.
      >t. already thought this out in my head long ago as the ideal Berserk live action adaptation and pretended that I got famous for directing it

miura did tell the guy thats directing it the full story
There are signs that prove it, like Guts cutting one hair of Griffith. The demon emperor chapters before said not even an army of one gorillion soldiers would be able to cut one of Griffith's hair.
But yeah the drawings are nothing compared to miura. Still better than 90% of other mangas.
I think keeping on with it its worth it, at least for now. The worst part of nu-berserk isnt really the drawing but the lack of the talent at composition. The way Miura played with perspectives, focal points, etc. ALONG with the god-tier drawing was what made him the -imo- best mangaka. I mean, Inoue and other guys are great but, c'mon, just look at pic related lol. No one else pulls off shit like that except Miura.

I don't doubt that miura told his buddy the ending but did he tell him all the full road map of little side stories along the way that made the story come to life? I highly fricking doubt it, in comparison to the rest of the story the ending of the island saga just seems so fricking rushed its honestly depressing to think about berserk these days. Such a great story will never be truly resolved makes me hate idolmaster and this gay ass world even more.

They said they wouldnt make up anything and just stick to what Miura told Mori: the bare bones. I'm happy it gets to have an end.

The "assistants" and Miura's "life long friend" are keeping it going now. Basically nu-Serk has nothing to do with Berserk. It doesn't look the same, it doesn't feel the same, only the names are the same.

The other comments are overstating the negatives of the newer chapters post-Miura's passing. Bear in mind, some of Miura's latest chapters when he was alive, weren't all that perfect either with the unfunny gags and lack of answers with each chapter that barely progressed the plot. The newer chapters do deliver on the art and I'm convinced that anyone who didn't know the author died would not be able to tell that the author is not the one who drew the newer chapters. The story is progressing still, just at a rather frustrating pace with obnoxious cliff-hangers every chapters. There actually is a good chance of the series reaching its completion and I tend to take a more positive view of the continuation, with the new author himself stating that Miura told him the outline for the series when drew the Eclipse back then, and he has said that the series has actually been following that outline ever since, which is hard to believe as an audience member but bear in mind that a lot of foreshadowing and groundwork has been laid even as early as Golden Age and Conviction arc about some major revalations that are yet to be revealed like Void being the sage who was imprisoned in the Tower of Conviction as explained by Mozgus and Griffith sharing a same body with the little mute kid who is Gut's and Casca's child (this one has already been revealed). So, Miura actually did plan stuff out, it's only possible for us to understand it with a bird's eye view. The series is not as haphazard and unplanned as it might seem. And if we were to believe the new author's comments, then the rest of the continuation would just go on to follow that outline that was explained to him by Miura, just with less sidetrack semi-filler, and more focus, and I say this as someone who enjoyed Fantasia arc.

The manga is the highest selling property Dark Horse has ever had. Dark Horse has published stuff like Hellboy that has three Hollywood movies and all the Star Wars comics that came out during the prequel hype, yet Berserk has sold better than any of those.

I would just adapt the Conviction arc and the protagonist would be Luca Neesan. It would be R rated and it would show multiple scenes of her and her girls having sex with the refugees infected by syphilis. During her conversation with the Egg of The New World and Skull Knight, it would be revealed that she is the true struggler and that's why she can't get infected. Every scene of Gatsu would be seen for her point of view.

None. I would instead try to make berserk into a proper 3d movie like Gantz 0. Its the only way Berserk could actually work on the big screen

      Anonymous

If you're going to animate it just do 2d. Good quality 2d always looks better than 3d anyway.

        Anonymous

        >3d
why? it just doesnt fit with Japan stuff
it would only take more time and be more expensive to make and look worse

I agree, but animating so much detail (especially the armor decorations), is impossible via hand. Maybe AI can help with the process, but I believe the end result will be soulless. Quality animation is not a matter of money, its a matter of time and extreme talent and I dont know that even the last bastion of 2d animation that is japan, still has what it takes.
A proper Berserk animation requires the top guys from the 2d animation industry that are initiated to old school animation and years upon years to draw every frame with painstakingly detail as miura did with his manga panels.
3d is actually possible and if its well made, then the movie can look as good as the manga. Gantz 0 looks amazing, but its a messy movie due to its scenario. Final fantasy advent children and Kings glaive look just as awesome

          Anonymous

I get your thinking but I'm sure 500 million could pull off 2D. They made redline, apply it to Berserk and maybe give it a bit of Amano flair in the backgrounds like in Angel's Egg. Would be kino.

            Anonymous

They could perhaps but they will be able to only cover golden age in full speed. Redline was 1 and 40mins long.

The 1997 anime of Berserk had good art, just shit animation. We dont need it to be as detailed as the manga. Films show a tale via movement, not pose

Thats the absolute problem of it. Motion. Old berserk series cheat by having some detailed stills to give the viewers a overall understanding of what the animated are depicting.
The new production may skip on some autistic details but they cant skip everything. Berserker armor is an artist's nightmare because it requires for you to know perfect perspective and you cant skip every scale.
Also, despite all that praising, old berserk series almost feel like a stop motion flick in some parts. Granted, it was cleverly made as small budget series but it will look terrible on cinema if something like this comes out in 2023 and tries to pass as a big budget anime

              Anonymous

              >Redline was 1 and 40mins long
Yes but it also had a $30 million dollar budget. Hire 10 times the animators and you can do a lot more.

                Anonymous

Maybe you can, but Redline's animation vs Berserk's animations are two entirely different beasts with berserk being worse. Sure, half billy can get you far with an ip, but I believe even with that kind of budget at best they can only animate golden arc. Berserk has lots of armies clashing and you need to animate alot of entities in order to make a scene smooth. Redline's main focus is the extreme details/animation on the few entities that usually occupy every scene

If its only possible in 3d as you claim (and you are probably at least 90% right) I would rather give the studio that made Arcane a chance. But idk if they can emulate other artists' style or they can only do their own thing. I havent watched anything else made by them besides Arcane.
And it would probably take them like 10 years to adapt the full manga lol.

Thats what Im talking about. Cgi has gone a long way since the despicable berserk cgi animation and can produce kinos in the hands of actually talented people. Its the only way we may get a proper berserk adaptation. Griffith is a beautiful man. Not a rat faced twink pretending to be a woman. There is a difference.

I would make it an incredibly expensive and elaborate Muppet movie. the leads would be bespoke humanoid muppets with the appropriate looks, but various existing muppets would turn up as various side-characters like members of the band of the hawk and at the royal court.

stop making live action adaptions of fantasy anime.
    it doesn't work.
    it never works
it never has and never will work

make a live action adaption of "don't toy with me nagatoro" for all i care, but not fantasy world stories

And unknown,. Almost all the budget will go to the world building and professional CGI to keep the fighting scenes special but not fake. No blacks, no hip hop, no dumb songs, no autistic editing. A beautiful 3 hour long film that will rival the epics of the 50' and 60's. A film that the Japanese can be proud to watch.

    Henry Cavil as Guts obviously.

The hard casting is who will play grifith? Maybe Robert Pattison?
Not many actors can pull Griffith.

And in the eclipse scene, the monsters will all be animatronics

Timothée Chalamet. He can look friendly and welcoming but also cold and jealous, just like Griffith.

      Both are too twinky.
Griffith doesn't look like a gay. He looks like a very beautiful man.

I divide all the money among Studios Shaft, Trigger, MAPPA, KyoAni, Brains Base, Bones, and Madhouse. No, I don't want them to make a movie, I just donate the money to them
