Cavil, then let him take over production and casting since he'll probably want to do it correctly.
Easy money.
Dev Patel
Guaranteed failure.
I'm gonna spend 490 of it to buy a house, car, etc. Then spend 10 millions to make a shit b-tier movie with POC actors (easy money from blackrock). And you know what? Critics gonna love it. But fans? Fans still gonna love/hate it with 50/50 chances. Because animegays has no taste at all.
>b-movie berserk
sounds fricking kino bro
shame we have seen so little of Black Swordsman in tv adaption, and its definitely one of the coolest versions of guts tbh
Me as Guts. I have black hair and shave my face. I'm 6ft tall. I'm skinny but I just need some gains. I had a hard life. Plz cast me. I want to kiss Morena
>blackrock
cool it with the antisemitic remarks.
ryan gosling - guts
robert pattiinson - griffiths
Ironically Robert Pattinson 15 years ago as Griffith and someone who looks like Taylor Lautner but is 6'5" as Guts would be a perfect casting.
Some gay homosexual weeb troony
I wouldn't want to make a Berserk movie
As a fan of the manga I just don't think it's needed
How incomplete the Manga is?
Last time I've read it I was a young man. I don't even remember those times it was so long ago. Like 15 years. I haven't touched a mange before or after that. Perfection and I put it aside to consoom it when it's finished.
Now that's obviously impossible.
>How incomplete
It's so incomplete the author died with a cliffhanger chapter and we've had like a full volume's worth of pure fanfiction after that with shitty art and out-of-character behavior from hollow puppets posing as the people we used to love
Dios mio sounds like worst case scenario.
Did the fricker not left any notes on the ending of the Manga? He should have known it will not be finished.
There were no notes because he was making it up as he went along. He never knew what would happend in the next chapter, which is part of why it took so long to make them.
Ok. I waited like 15 years to continue reading but seems like I better cut my losses and move on. Just another tragedy in my miserable life.
Wierd how the best mange and artwork never got a proper adaptation in any form.
The 97 anime was great, the only problem was it didn't continue
I agree I liked it but the drawing was subpar and as you said it stopped. Like every berserk adaptation.
Well Miura's dogshit release schedule didn't help matters to be fair. I can understand a studio not want to go further.
miura did tell the guy thats directing it the full story
There are signs that prove it, like Guts cutting one hair of Griffith. The demon emperor chapters before said not even an army of one gorillion soldiers would be able to cut one of Griffith's hair.
But yeah the drawings are nothing compared to miura. Still better than 90% of other mangas.
I think keeping on with it its worth it, at least for now. The worst part of nu-berserk isnt really the drawing but the lack of the talent at composition. The way Miura played with perspectives, focal points, etc. ALONG with the god-tier drawing was what made him the -imo- best mangaka. I mean, Inoue and other guys are great but, c'mon, just look at pic related lol. No one else pulls off shit like that except Miura.
I miss that little homie like you wouldnt believe
I don't doubt that miura told his buddy the ending but did he tell him all the full road map of little side stories along the way that made the story come to life? I highly fricking doubt it, in comparison to the rest of the story the ending of the island saga just seems so fricking rushed its honestly depressing to think about berserk these days. Such a great story will never be truly resolved makes me hate idolmaster and this gay ass world even more.
>but did he tell him all the full road map of little side stories along the way that made the story come to life?
Yeah I'm sure going to miss Isidro and all that crap. After Conviction the only memorable side story was the Serpico and Farnese one.
They said they wouldnt make up anything and just stick to what Miura told Mori: the bare bones. I'm happy it gets to have an end.
Complete unknowns for the entire cast. For Guts, probably some huge italian/German mutt. For Griffissu a Frenchman. Casca is played by an Indian woman. Farnese is played by the most gorgeous fit blonde spinner that shows up to casting.
guts - henry cavill
griffith - chris colfer
casca - isabela moner
I wouldn't make a movie. I would make the first season of a Berserk tv series instead. Black swordsman arc, 6 episodes
>Episode 1 adapts chapter 1: The Black Swordsman
>Episode 2 adapts chapter 2 : The Brand
>Episode 3 adapts chapter 3 plus a little bit of 4
>Episode 4 adapts the rest of chapter 4
>Episode 5 adapts chapter 5 and 6
>Episode 6 starts with the Griffith battlefield flashback from chapter 8 and adapts the rest of chapter 7 and 8 chronologically
Season ends with Guts crying and limping out of the castle.I would go full slowborn darksouls bonechilling atmospheric kino, and drag the pacing out a bit by focusing on the scenery to fill in the time slots, and spend most of the money on production and cast some rando unknown bodybuilder dude as Guts. Then get a bugger budget and save Golden Age arc for a 13 episode season 2.
>t. already thought this out in my head long ago as the ideal Berserk live action adaptation and pretended that I got famous for directing it
Yeah. Thats pretty cool. Theres so many ways to frick the adaptation for Berserk.
I cant see it ever being done well in this day and age. They'd probably get some rando woman or taika coen to do it.
I go back in time and get young Dolph Lundgren
Time machines are $500 million, anon.
If you have this dude, weebs will crowdfund the rest
Well depending on if you want a trilogy you might need a few different actors. Berzerk is way too big for one movie.
Has cavill fricked a monster yet in The Witcher? Nows his chance.
rutger hauer
Elliot Page
>As Casca
Pre mutilation she would have made a fine casca with a tan. Does she still have a vegana?
No as Guts. If Guts were a short man he'd be more inspiring
As young Guts getting raped in the tent
I wouldn't. Berserk died with Miura.
Can you answer this
What's the fate of the Manga now? Did some greedy relative sold the rights or...?
The "assistants" and Miura's "life long friend" are keeping it going now. Basically nu-Serk has nothing to do with Berserk. It doesn't look the same, it doesn't feel the same, only the names are the same.
The other comments are overstating the negatives of the newer chapters post-Miura's passing. Bear in mind, some of Miura's latest chapters when he was alive, weren't all that perfect either with the unfunny gags and lack of answers with each chapter that barely progressed the plot. The newer chapters do deliver on the art and I'm convinced that anyone who didn't know the author died would not be able to tell that the author is not the one who drew the newer chapters. The story is progressing still, just at a rather frustrating pace with obnoxious cliff-hangers every chapters. There actually is a good chance of the series reaching its completion and I tend to take a more positive view of the continuation, with the new author himself stating that Miura told him the outline for the series when drew the Eclipse back then, and he has said that the series has actually been following that outline ever since, which is hard to believe as an audience member but bear in mind that a lot of foreshadowing and groundwork has been laid even as early as Golden Age and Conviction arc about some major revalations that are yet to be revealed like Void being the sage who was imprisoned in the Tower of Conviction as explained by Mozgus and Griffith sharing a same body with the little mute kid who is Gut's and Casca's child (this one has already been revealed). So, Miura actually did plan stuff out, it's only possible for us to understand it with a bird's eye view. The series is not as haphazard and unplanned as it might seem. And if we were to believe the new author's comments, then the rest of the continuation would just go on to follow that outline that was explained to him by Miura, just with less sidetrack semi-filler, and more focus, and I say this as someone who enjoyed Fantasia arc.
would anyone care about berserk if it wasnt for the sanitized ('97?) anime? besides that it just seems like typical juvenile weebshit but with rape monsters constantly
>would anyone care about berserk if it wasnt for the sanitized ('97?) anime?
The manga is the highest selling property Dark Horse has ever had. Dark Horse has published stuff like Hellboy that has three Hollywood movies and all the Star Wars comics that came out during the prequel hype, yet Berserk has sold better than any of those.
So yes, people care about Berserk.
that wasnt my question
oh boy another adaption of the golden age arc
Tom Hardy
Tom hardy for Casca. Hes like 5'5
I just do what the AI tells me
I would spend the money on hookers instead of making an adaptation of the most reddit manga of all time meant for literal 14 year olds
Berserk do be mid though
The cast are teens and early 20s in the story you filthy secondaries.
I would just adapt the Conviction arc and the protagonist would be Luca Neesan. It would be R rated and it would show multiple scenes of her and her girls having sex with the refugees infected by syphilis. During her conversation with the Egg of The New World and Skull Knight, it would be revealed that she is the true struggler and that's why she can't get infected. Every scene of Gatsu would be seen for her point of view.
YES, I LOVE LUCA
very cringe post, but based for appreciating the very much underrated Conviction arc. Its the best one imo.
Luca is pretty much the only thing that kept skull knight from existing in a weird vacuum of demons and people doomed by demons. It's a comfy little exchange.
tiumothy chalameut
>guts
Nate from Euphoria
>tall
>white
>fit enough for normies
>decent actor
>ok with degenerate characters/tone
>young enough for franchise
>gay from Euphoria
>watches euphoria
I'm gonna just hide this post and hope I will never ever see your posts again in this life. homosexual
>lmao you like euphoria!!
No idiot. This is a casting thread.
>who do you cast as your literal self
me
I don't cast it
I hire the best animators in the world and make the most kino animated series the world will ever know
not sure what I would do with the post-miura chapters
maybe give some money and resources to the guys that are drawing them so they step their game the frick up, or hire better artists to help them
after they finished the manga I would also animate it
>which actor do you cast for Guts?
John Boyega
I would make the film/series in black and white just to filter the normies.
Clive Owen
is casca still moronic?
no, miura un-moronic in the last chapsters he made before dying
I think it maybe was just before the last one
She's cured, took 19 years of publication
Guts - Idris elba
Griffith - hunter Schaeffer
Casca - zendaya
STFU troony
It was funny the first time not millionth
That's way too much fricking money for it, it's better if we split that money into two movies with 200 budget and 100 for advertising each.
>which actor do you cast for Guts?
None. I would instead try to make berserk into a proper 3d movie like Gantz 0. Its the only way Berserk could actually work on the big screen
If you're going to animate it just do 2d. Good quality 2d always looks better than 3d anyway.
I agree, but animating so much detail (especially the armor decorations), is impossible via hand. Maybe AI can help with the process, but I believe the end result will be soulless. Quality animation is not a matter of money, its a matter of time and extreme talent and I dont know that even the last bastion of 2d animation that is japan, still has what it takes.
A proper Berserk animation requires the top guys from the 2d animation industry that are initiated to old school animation and years upon years to draw every frame with painstakingly detail as miura did with his manga panels.
3d is actually possible and if its well made, then the movie can look as good as the manga. Gantz 0 looks amazing, but its a messy movie due to its scenario. Final fantasy advent children and Kings glaive look just as awesome
I get your thinking but I'm sure 500 million could pull off 2D. They made redline, apply it to Berserk and maybe give it a bit of Amano flair in the backgrounds like in Angel's Egg. Would be kino.
They could perhaps but they will be able to only cover golden age in full speed. Redline was 1 and 40mins long.
Thats the absolute problem of it. Motion. Old berserk series cheat by having some detailed stills to give the viewers a overall understanding of what the animated are depicting.
The new production may skip on some autistic details but they cant skip everything. Berserker armor is an artist's nightmare because it requires for you to know perfect perspective and you cant skip every scale.
Also, despite all that praising, old berserk series almost feel like a stop motion flick in some parts. Granted, it was cleverly made as small budget series but it will look terrible on cinema if something like this comes out in 2023 and tries to pass as a big budget anime
>Redline was 1 and 40mins long
Yes but it also had a $30 million dollar budget. Hire 10 times the animators and you can do a lot more.
Maybe you can, but Redline's animation vs Berserk's animations are two entirely different beasts with berserk being worse. Sure, half billy can get you far with an ip, but I believe even with that kind of budget at best they can only animate golden arc. Berserk has lots of armies clashing and you need to animate alot of entities in order to make a scene smooth. Redline's main focus is the extreme details/animation on the few entities that usually occupy every scene
The 1997 anime of Berserk had good art, just shit animation. We dont need it to be as detailed as the manga. Films show a tale via movement, not pose
>We dont need it to be as detailed as the manga.
homie if I'm paying 500 MILLIONS for it I'm demanding every second of it to be 1:1 in detail.
>he doesnt believe nothing its impossible
ngmi
nah but seriously, this shit? https://youtu.be/r37ARGRJC-k
I dont think so, bro, it looks like plastic
Animated Berserk NEEDS the "organic" (hate that term) or "rustic" feel of 2d drawing
If its only possible in 3d as you claim (and you are probably at least 90% right) I would rather give the studio that made Arcane a chance. But idk if they can emulate other artists' style or they can only do their own thing. I havent watched anything else made by them besides Arcane.
And it would probably take them like 10 years to adapt the full manga lol.
Thats what Im talking about. Cgi has gone a long way since the despicable berserk cgi animation and can produce kinos in the hands of actually talented people. Its the only way we may get a proper berserk adaptation. Everyone, even the japs, try to avoid as much 2d work as they can with their animations and add shitty cgi in order to compensate, so lots of them cant really pull something like this.
>3d
why? it just doesnt fit with Japan stuff
it would only take more time and be more expensive to make and look worse
why do you people would rather adapt it as movies instead of a series
and why as live action
idgi
> Henry Cavill as Guts
> Robert Pattinson as Griffith
> Jenna Ortega or Naomi Scott as Casca
> make the first film about the Golden Age Arc only
> NO Puck in subsequent sequal for GOD sake
Gut's isn't a late 30yo you morons
Keep the Wyald (Dave Bautista) arc and it's perfect. Ron Perlman is Nosferatu Zod.
Ron Perlman needs to not be in anything. He's a fricking pile of twigs. He was cast as The Admiral in Monster Hunter and only made the character seem decrepit when he's supposed to be a touchstone of strength for the entire operation.
Zod is 100% mocap though, even his human form should look inhuman.
Also he *should* look old, because Zod is old. Making him come off as an old man former hunk who through the powers of the god hand is now 1000X stronger than he ever was in his human prime would be perfectly unsettling.
the cheapest one I can find for each character, pocket the rest of the money and flee to cyprus or something
Henry Cavill as Guts
Hunter Schafer as Griffith
Isabela Yolanda Moner Pizarro as Casca
stop casting henry cavil as guts you idiots that guy doesnt fit at all
imo this guy would have been perfect but its too old now
he pulled off the ruthless badass but deep down emotionally broken because of horrible event with glimpses of a soft side perfectly in Sicario
anyways live action berserk would be so fricking cringe
After like 34 years Guts is only 21 years old in the story. You have to get basically a teen who is 6 foot 6 and built like a bodybuilder, and is both stoic and conveys a world weariness and can also bring out a convincing visceral hatred when a femboy stands in front of him naked. It's a tall order.
it would have a pg13 rating and be wokeified
most kissable griffith ever, born to play this role etc.
Griffith is supposed to be a tough person capable of getting dirty.
Hunter Schafer is clearly a zoomed homosexual who only knows how to put on makeup
imagine not thinking this would work
Griffith is a beautiful man. Not a rat faced twink pretending to be a woman. There is a difference.
I would make it an incredibly expensive and elaborate Muppet movie. the leads would be bespoke humanoid muppets with the appropriate looks, but various existing muppets would turn up as various side-characters like members of the band of the hawk and at the royal court.
someone who can draw guts well
>find noname British thesbian with a similar look
>roid him out for 6 months
I'm sure the theatre enthusiasts of Cinemaphile could find someone who fits the bill
stop making live action adaptions of fantasy anime.
it doesn't work.
it never works
it never has and never will work
make a live action adaption of "don't toy with me nagatoro" for all i care, but not fantasy world stories
Dunno, I just wish I could see Chris Farley as Griffith.
And unknown,. Almost all the budget will go to the world building and professional CGI to keep the fighting scenes special but not fake. No blacks, no hip hop, no dumb songs, no autistic editing. A beautiful 3 hour long film that will rival the epics of the 50' and 60's. A film that the Japanese can be proud to watch.
Henry Cavil as Guts obviously.
The hard casting is who will play grifith? Maybe Robert Pattison?
Not many actors can pull Griffith.
And in the eclipse scene, the monsters will all be animatronics
Timothée Chalamet. He can look friendly and welcoming but also cold and jealous, just like Griffith.
That dude Tatum from Magic Mike could be a good Guts but Guts is very young...
>everyone ITT wants guts to be some 45 year old
Here's your Griffith
Tom Cruise as Guts.
Mummy era Brendan Fraser unironically couldve been a cool Guts
Chalamet and Hunter Schafer are the only decent options for Griffith
Both are too twinky.
Griffith doesn't look like a gay. He looks like a very beautiful man.
I divide all the money among Studios Shaft, Trigger, MAPPA, KyoAni, Brains Base, Bones, and Madhouse. No, I don't want them to make a movie, I just donate the money to them
