Hulu has a thing that recognizes adblockers and won't play videos until you whitelist them. I don't see why netflix wouldn't use the same thing. Either way I'll be canceling as soon as they put ads in, I'll just pirate the whole two shows I want to watch.

My finger has been hovering over the cancel button for several years. At this point I'm only still subscribed because Star Trek and the fact it was the first service I signed up for after moving out of my parents house. FFS I barely even watch any of the trash on Netflix.

Netflix is "not making enough money", so they kept bumping their price up, which mostly resulted in a loss of subscribers I assume. Ad revenue is a way for them to increase profits without (directly) charging the customer more, while hopefully not causing them to lose a significant amount of their customers. There will probably be a premium package where you pay extra to stop the ads.

        Anonymous

        >not causing them to lose a significant amount of their customers.
I'm cancelling if they include ads. It's already nowhere near as good as it used to be since they had to start fighting with competition and different shows go on different streaming platforms. It was much better as a monopoly.

      Anonymous

It used to be that there would be a free version of streaming sites with ads and a pay version without them. Then they gimped the free versions to make you go to the paid versions but the paid versions had ads so they introduced a higher paid tier that didn't have ads. Now they'll be introducing the ads to all tiers so soon expect an even higher tier that'll be ad free until two years from now and on and on.
