The event fricked it up, but if there's anyone ruining things, it's likely the editors are holding Adams back. At the same time, I don't think Adams has the passion in him to write a great comic.

its the Adamshill, he did the same with his mediocre Flash run and he will do the same with whatever slop Adams shits out on Flash Gordon

Yeah. I think there were more during the Flash run, but Green Lantern got kind of indefensible.

        >spurrier flash

I can agree with that. The art is a big reason. What an eyesore.

the deodato art fit the tone really well honestly, even if its poser trash, and the lettering is maybe the best I have seen in any big 2 comic

                Anonymous

The easy answer is just to say everything. It started out with an arc about an even comic I never read, I only read the first issue and it sucked so I had no interest in the rest and I had no interest in an arc that was "fixing" the aftermath of that, and the art was so so shit, legit eye cancer. But I kept with it and it's honestly everything wrong with capeshit, every page and I mean every page is full of quips, the man cannot go a page without a quip regardless of the context, that together with the fact that not only Flash, but his little kids are treating every villain as a joke and making quick work of them destroys any semblance of stakes or tension, and then there's the "civilian parts" which are just convenient shit like Wally getting a job where he can leave when he wants no questions asked and is way out of his depth but always comes up with ideas that help the eggheads solve their problems. I kept giving it more time because I wanted to see if maybe it gets better after that initial arc I just couldn't give two shits about either way and then it gets roped into crossovers again so I wanted to give it a fair chance but aside from the art getting better (going from dogshit to still bad - slightly below average house style cape artsyle) it continued to be exactly what I said, the worst aspects of capeshit rolled into one comic.

A few others that aren’t coming to mind. I’d have liked to add Flash Gordon to the list but I won’t be in principal as you can see in the other reply chain. I’m sure the people who showed up for FCBD will subscribe to it though /s

I've had the collecting autism trained out of me because the guy who runs the only shop near me screws up my pull list on an almost weekly basis because he's a million years old and he keeps track of people's lists in an unorganized binder, and I feel bad to correct him because he's nice and he had a stroke recently due to the stress of his dog having to have a leg amputated. So I just buy comics when I can and I try to just enjoy them.

To be totally fair they were promoting that the series kicks off on free comic book day and then continues in July. I do understand the frustration though. Energon Universe put their FCBD issue out as a regular full priced comic book the next week. I think that's what they should do with Flash Gordon for the people who missed it.

The only reason I do is so I can grab the stuff that'll be important for the runs I'm planning to read. I would use it to discover new books but if they limit how many I can take that's not an option, since I have to stick with what I'm already going to read.

There's a lot about comics that suck. You really have to love them to put up with the bullshit.

I don’t buy events at all because I’m not a tasteless loser but that’s also not true. They’re usually just preview pages directly taken from an issue that will be released later on.

I will admit that's a good point. I wasn't 100% sure my shop would have the free issue in. And plus, my shop had a limit of three free comics and there were like six I wanted. There's lots of things that annoy me about the process of reading and buying comics. I do like them though. I'm looking forward to the Flash Gordon series at least.

Yeah they normally do a limit because resellers and speculators can snag a bunch up otherwise. That’s something you’ll come across if you stick with it.

though. I’ve stuck with TERRIBLE runs on titles because of my weird obsession with having the entire story front to back. I read a lot of my floppies back yearly. Having a missing issue, let alone issue one (even if it’s called 0), is just untenable. I usually drop a series if I miss an issue due to order frick ups or whatever. It’s not worth it to track it down for added cost. If I miss issue one of a series? Might as well not exist lol
