I thought that was arcade only?

No, this one was a different game. They had some of the same characters from the arcade but it was a whole different thing

The Arcade is a Fighting Game in the same format as vs Capcom and vs Street Fighter series. The NES games are side scrolling 2D beat em up/platformers.

Different game, and that one wasn't Arcade only btw. It got a near perfect port for the Saturn, a shitty PS1 port, and a perfect emulated version on the Xbox 360/PS3 online stores. This one is a beat em up, and to my knowledge only ever got ported to an special Arcade cabinet last year, that contains basically all of the versus games plus this one as a treat.

Capcom beat em ups and fighting games are the best and they treat Marvel Characters the best also.

This game was pure cape perfection. I really wish there was a DC equivalent. I mean I know they had Justice League heroes or whatever it was called but it didn't go hard enough the way this did.

Tell me, did UA3 suffer from MCU synergy displacing the comics feel of the first 2 games like MVC Infinite fricked up compared to 1-3?

        Anonymous

Not really. It's clearly inspired by Infinity War and Endgame being the big thing at the time, but it doesn't really try for any MCU synergy. The DLC especially focused pretty heavily on teams and characters that still haven't even really been featured in the MCU.

          That's literally all MCU.

Seriously if they weren't popular they wouldn't be getting games at all. Mainstream MCU has really rotted people's ideas of what popular even means.

I remember rifling through my cousin's old shit a few years ago and found a Captain America and the Avengers NES cartridge, which apparently was super false advertising because the only two playable characters were Captain America and Hawkeye, the character music was catchy as hell though.

I think it's because people compare the popularity and financial viability of both Iron Man and Captain America back then in the 80s/90s to when the MCU really hit its stride with the characters.

Captain America was playable in like several games during the 90s

    >Captain America and the Avengers (arcade/Genesis/SNES/Sega CD)
    >Captain America and the Avengers (NES version where you could only play as Cap or Hawkeye and it was different from the arcade)
    >Avengers in Galactic Storm (this was a 1995 arcade game from Data East as a follow up to Captain America and the Avengers)
    >War of the Gems, obviously
    >Marvel Super Heroes (1995 Capcom arcade game)
    >Marvel vs Street Fighter (1997)
    >Marvel vs Capcom (1998)

Sure it's not as much as Spider-Man or some of the X-Men, but that's way more than people'd expect

Hell, Hawkeye got to be a playable character in three games during the 90s (Cap and the Avengers, Cap and the Avengers NES, Spider-Man: The Arcade Game)

Also something to keep in mind is that Punisher was more popular than Cap in the early 90s but he was only a playable character in four 90s games.

Galactic storm is such a interesting attempt at a fighting game and using most of the bomber jacket members of the avengers at the time

    Avengers for the arcade.
There's something so charming about the era when Marvel was a small enough property and the Japanese so dominant that you got blind idiot English in licensed games.

Nobody else will ever say this; but this was my favorite dreamcast game for a long long time. Also that PS2 Ghost Rider game was cool, you could unlock Blade and a GR 2099 skin

Marvel Vs. Capcom doesn't even need to be mentioned in this thread to be recognized for its supremacy.
