I was so annoyed I told her if she felt that was truly the case, she could leave right now and I wouldn't stop her. She backed down after that.

I tried to date a girl back during the early lockdown who accused me of doing this. She was sort of right, though— I was trying to convince her that the other guy she was interested in dating was a scumbag grifter.

Ironically, I was correct and he made a fool out of her kek.

Lmao. Correct move but you can take it further. Say you're not comfortable in a relationship where the other feels like that. Say you need to take a step back and re evaluate if you are a psycho.

You'll never see someone slobber on your dick so fast

Honestly, you should break up with her. Arguments and fights are one thing, but the second she accuses you of abuse once, you just know she will do it again, and maybe to a third party. Her mind is melted by feminist rhetoric and she's gonna do power plays that also make her feel like she's the righteous party.

        Quoted for emphasis.

SHE WILL DO IT AGAIN AND WORSE.

Get out of it now. The moment a woman even hints at accusing you of abuse you need to GTFO immediately. They can ruin your life over lies and will.

You have to know how to deal with therapy talk b***hes. Instead of trying to explain yourself, you need to say "That's really interesting, what makes you say that? I'm really sensitive to accusations due to past trauma and as a Sagittarius sometimes my desire to be respected pushes people away. I need to continue on my journey of self-actualization." Just listen to some Emma Chamberlain to pick up the lingo.

it's when someone slowly, over time, tries to convince you that your perceptions are wrong, the metaphor being that they slowly turn down the gas (thus dimming the light), and when you eventually state that the room is darker, they say, "What are you talking about?"

I feel like I'm on the cusp of a breakthrough here, like if I focus on this "knowing that" she has a pussy underneath her clothes, I'll be able to see it in all women all the time. Today I'm going to experiment with seeing women as naked under their clothes and trying to see their pussy by projecting with my third eye.

Is gaslighting the most worthless term?
    >to manipulate another person into doubting their own perceptions, experiences or understanding of events
If there is a conflict of interpretation, expression your opinion or view of an event is not manipulation. Seems like a term invented by weak people to call upon when they're failing an argument.

      Anonymous

Yeah, pretty much. That isn’t to say that coercion/manipulation can’t come in the form of arguments, but the term is basically used to describe feeling threatened by a person for disagreeing with you.

      Anonymous

Gaslighting used to have meaning and required some actual skill to pull off- it was a result of usually something methodical with planning to trick someone into doing or thinking something against their will- think an ultimate level of persuasion crossed with inception tier lies.

Now it just means anytime some woman who has a skewed view of reality misremembering something, so every 2 minutes, has to have a conversation about how actual physical inarguable events actually occurred.

      Anonymous

It's arguably a real manipulation tactic, but to a woman its as simple as "you disagreed with me so you're making me think I'm crazy"

      Anonymous

It's a classic catch 22, where if someone thinks they're being gaslit that means they probably aren't, and anyone who's truly being gaslit probably doesn't see it unless it's pointed out to them.

It's just lying with the intention of driving the other person crazy.

I came to the same conclusion, it's pretty much an empty buzzword now. "Manipulation" already covers it. And it doesn't help that I noticed the very worst and most manipulative/crazy women you know LOVE to use the word "gaslighting" constantly.

So gaslighting/gaslit etc is now a meaningless buzzword, what's the next term to be driven into the ground?
    My guess is vibe.

      Anonymous

Depression and narcissism met similar fates to gaslighting, they're all mentally ill behaviors which normies use to refer to normal emotions. Feeling sad = feeling depressed, someone is arrogant = narcissist. If that's the pattern, my guess is the next meaningless buzzword will be maladaptive daydreaming, it's a relatively new term that's already making the usual pop psy rounds. Feel bored and your mind wanders = maladaptive daydreaming.

Gyatt; normies are using the term for any mid ass, and forgetting the term should be reserved for only the greatest of gyatts

Accusing others of gaslighting nowadays is, in most cases, what somebody that gaslights others would do.
In the original sense gaslighting is a form of emotional manipulation ("I like cats." "So you're saying you hate dogs?") and is more often than not used by woman, because all forms of emotional manipulation is their primary form of aggression.
Emotional manipulation in general works better on weak minded, insecure individuals, where as rational, more grounded people typically disengage from people using emotional manipulation, because nothing get's resolved in those types of conversations.

I am so sick and tired of this term. It is entirely used by women and women-adjacent men. My girlfriend uses it, my friend uses it, I cannot stand it anymore. It just means "lying" now. It has nothing to do with the original definition. I don't remember what I told my friend 3 months ago? Now I am "gaslighting" her. My girlfriend hasn't accused me of gaslighting her ever (yet) but she uses the word a lot and if I call her on it she's gonna have some "zinger" to prove me wrong how it's actually the same thing somehow.
