Yeah, I hate zoomers too, but I'm not a poorgay, so subbing isn't the issue here.

That's a matter of opinion. Streaming services are getting lazier and shitty again. As the very wise Gabe Newell said, piracy only thrives when it becomes more convenient than actual paid distributors.

also if it's actually worth the price, people will usually pay it. (hbo)max just hiked up it's price while putting out nothing but dogshit for over a year. all these other streaming services are doing the exact same or trying to introduce intrusive ads. that means im NOT making an illegal copy and i can NOT be dragged to court and sentenced for pirating (which happens with torrenters in my country when you dont use a paid VPN)
so either i pay for VPN and torrent, or i could simply stream
i wont ever pay for pirated content in any way or form (be it filehosters or vpn), frick that shit

it would have been kinda interesting to see how the city adjusted to the mine closing, as from what I can tell it was economically really significant. But that would have questioned too many of the topics and have been uncomfrtubirbrele and we just can't have that. Our murder story has to end happily.

      >>Why was the spiral symbol for ice caves drawn randomly at so many places related to the case?
Writer's answer: because it's a local symbol for the Night Country and also a warning against bad juju or something
Real answer: there are spirals on victims/cult members in season 1
      >>Why was the video of the girl's murder completely different from the murder confession?
Writer's answer: it's a mystery or unreliable narrator or something
Real answer: incompetence in the continuity department

      Trust the science

Yes hence they arent especially GOOD like the ethnic ones. Its a clear woke hierarchy, The other one only murdered out of good intentions.
Meanwhile the only good white dude on the show is forced to kill his own loving father, like some sick sadistic ritual that you have to take in order to be an ally to these people.
The ethnic men? Barely shown, yea they got the race card but the director cant have too much positive masculinity. The best ethnic dude is used as a cumdump by the female trooper.

the only good white dude on the show is forced to kill his own loving father, like some sick sadistic ritual that you have to take in order to be an ally to these people.
That exactly what Issa Lopez meant to show, it's all so moronic
            >I mean, yes, he’s absolutely the moral compass. He’s the uncorrupted one at the beginning of the story. But the truth is, it is a cop story. And I don’t think there is a simple way to be a cop in this world, if ever there was. And imparting justice, if that’s the function of the police, cannot be black and white. We’ve seen it over and over again. He’s a baby cop and he’s trying to become a full-fledged one. And he’s doing it by asking the right questions and getting the training as a detective. He’s not a full fledged cop until he has baptism by blood and it’s his own blood. Now, from a Freudian perspective, from a Greek tragedy perspective, there is an old human tradition that to become an adult you have to kill your parents. It’s a very primal image, but it’s behind so many modern conflicts. I took it a little literal in this case. He does have to break with the pain and the corruption and the dark emotions that Hank [John Hawkes] is asking him to connect with. He’s not that person. Peter makes a decision before any shots are fired and Hank understands that his life is over, everything is going to go downhill from there. Everything he did is going to be exposed. He knows he lost his child. So he raises the gun. And if you look carefully at the frame, Hank doesn’t have his finger on the trigger. He was not going to shoot Danvers, but he makes the gesture knowing that he’s going to go down.

Only feasable explanation is the jannie ladies did this. Either as part of some injun ritual or to get Navarro to get involved since they considered her as part of the tribe and knew she'll switch into blodhound mode and crack the case, and it would be better if it was her who would do that rather then some crooked FRICKING WHITE MALE PIG.

            >so why lie about that part
Terrible writing. You'd think that basically admitting mass murder would be much worse.

you really think they would cut out her tongue to make a point years later? that would be rather crazy - and to me the character seemed genuinely rather shocked by the information.

maybe it's just me but i don't think dumping toxic waste into the environment is a racial issue

not to say whether it is a 'racial issue' or not, but it certainly has happened more often in areas with higher populations of 'minorities' who have experienced historical injustice, and so they have been disproportionately impacted by it. i will not prescribe why this might be the case.

Why did they give the entire show to a woman serving as writer, director and producer? Season 1 had Pizzolatto doing the writing, another man directing and so on. Generally you have to be some high IQ auteur to do everything and succeed at it.

Same, apparently the law is a mere suggestion to them, they have more faith in witchcraft than science and they are fine with murdering your entire family if they have circumstancial evidence of someone of your family hurting one of theirs. Imagine living in their country... they are clearly savages and im glad the white man took their land and almost eradicated them. We should finish the job imo, they dont belong in the modern world.

      >jodie foster, old woman detective
      >some other black actor, feisty injun detective
      >story opens with some guys in a research station dying. their bodies are all found in the snow, they are contorted and clawing at themselves, bleeding from the ears, burnt corneas, and all naked. some distance from the bodies are all their clothes, perfectly folded. some of the researchers have spiral tattoos on them
      >jodie foster (danvers) and navarro (injun) investigate, find a tongue in the research base. tongue is from an old case of a native girl (annie) who got killed and her tongue was never found. navarro is obsessed with the annie case
      >their only lead is one researcher who wasn't found dead at the site and went missing, so they look for him.
      >researchers were trying to find some bacteria that gives you immortality, and that there's a mining company in the town dumping pollution
      >white boi (peter) is a junior detective, helps danvers. strained relationship with his dad (hank, former police officer) and strained relationship with his wife because he keeps ignoring his family to follow danvers' orders
      >eventually danvers and navarro find this guy (otis) who had similar injuries to the dead researchers

      >they search the area, find fignerprints of a hand with missing fingers, go find the girl then get an exposition dump from a bunch of women janitors about how they found out the researchers killed annie, so they formed a swat team to go and murder the researchers by forcing them out onto the ice with guns so they'd die

They were encouraging the mine to pollute more because it made it easier to melt the permafrost for their ice core research (???) and some woman discovered this fact and destroyed their research, so they all took turns stabbing her to death with a screwdriver.

some points i forgot to mention
        >reason why they were clawing at themselves and had burnt corneas and bleeding ears
        snow madness
        >reason why they had spiral tattoos
        it means thin ice
        >reason why hank killed otis
he was paid by the mining company to do it, he also moved annies body after she died
        >why was the tongue at the research base
apparently hank go there before the police did (doesn't make sense)
        >everything else
all unresolved plot points. at the end of the finale danvers is talking to some other cops in an interrogation and just says "some questions are meant to be unanswered"

I'd also like to mention most of episodes 2-5 (there are 6 episodes) were completely meaningless. the entire story could probably have been told in ~2-3 episodes

In season 1 it was pedo, in Night Country it's something that injuns draw on little rocks to indicate where thin ice is. Don't think too much about how that makes no sense at all.

its a reference to something called a "spirangle", which was used a pedophile symbol so that pedophiles could identify eachother in the early days of the internet, there are many such symbols.

i have personally gone on the dark net to sleuth out different evils, i thought that it was my way of being some sort of independent journalist or detective. i found image boards that would blatently use all the code mentioned so far, and all the code established in the pizzagate wikileaks emails. what was so startling about the wikileaks emails when they came out, was how lazily they used the same code that pretty much all pedos use, they didn't make up their own code, too lazy and too arrogant i suppose.

is that the summary of what i said?

pedophile organizations have formally discussed that the spirangle is a symbol that identifies them to other potential pedophiles so they can network. i linked to an article explaining the evidence in my very post.

do you think that criminals maybe use a code? like how the mafia refers to the mafia as "this thing of ours" and murdering someone as "he's gotta go"? its not schizophrenic to understand that criminals use a coded language to disguise what they do, do you think they just blatantly say as such?

                That's not the schizo part

i don't neccessarily presume that they continue to use the codes. since pizzagate i would assume that the high profile people who do child diddling probably finally did switch up the way they do it. and if there was any reluctance to switch it up its probably a combination of laziness and feeling untouchable, which doesn't neccessarily mean actually being untouchable, just feeling that way, so hubris.

                >"whats the point of the symbol if you don't have the power to stop it"

we may have the power to stop it and some of them may just think that we don't, in any case, its probably more dangerous for them to just outright communicate that they are diddling kids then to use a code that while well known, still has more plausible deniability than just literally talking about diddling kids

the points you made are basically just a straw man argument you made with your self, the fact is that you first had an emotional reaction, which is aloofness, you feel like the people who speculate to this kind of stuff are beneath you and are stupid, and then you searched for logic to support your conclusion, rather then trying to find out why people actually believe this.

the logical fallacy that you have is that you start with needing a "why".

lets use an example, lets say you have camera footage of a homie stealing a candy bar, do i need to know why he stole the candy bar to speculate that he stole a candy bar if i can see on video that he stole a candy bar? do i need to speculate "well maybe he did it for his keeedz" or do i need to think "well maybe he's diabetic and his blood sugar was dangerously low"? no i can just see that he stole the candy bar and be like "it looks like he's stealing a candy bar".

like wise, this code is associated with pedophiles, and this code appears in peoples instagram posts, emails, pizza places, as well as other stuff that is weird and related to kids.

I suspect that many of these things (forms of socially unaccepted behaviour) wind down or change form when they become too visible. That is the case with forms of crime or unaccepted behaviour in general.
It's indicative of a normalgay experience that it couldn't occur to them through firsthand experience that people might speak using coded language, intentionally refrain from recording too much etc.
Particularly ironic on Cinemaphile, the home of internet racism for several years, with elaborate layers of memes and code for self-identification.
It's what criminals, gays, racists, spies, anyone who doesn't want the public to see what they're doing but who wants to function in society does.
If people have desires to do unaccepted stuff, they'll find ways, including through other people.

we can speculate as to the "Why" and we can come up with some interesting theories, and some theories that maybe have some holes in it.

it is a fact that the podesta and clinton emails talk about extremely weird things, such as clinton saying that she's going to sacrifice a chicken to moloch in her backyard, or a person saying they found a "hankerchief with a map on it that seems pizza related", or someone saying that a function at the white house will have sixty thousand dollars of hot dogs flown in, or someone saying that two specific toddlers will be in a heated pool so there "will be entertainment", and so on. its not schizo to look at that and be like "thats fricking bizzare, does this have to do with pedophillia?"

Basically these conspiracies have the perfect amount of exposure to be talked about, but to make the people talking about them seem crazy. If they were less exposed, you wouldn't be desensitized to the theories, and might be more open to them. I learned of this stuff around 2004, before the Illuminati was a household name. When I brought them up, nobody had even heard of them. And first reading about it produced such a shock that it fueled my descent down the rabbit hole. But now it's all a joke. When people try to tell you, you've already heard it, and that extreme shock doesn't happen. You've been successfully filtered.

Fricking lmao. It's about pride and ego and the thrill of "getting away with something".

Here's the issue, my mind can be changed.
The existence or non existence of elite pedophile rings doesn't hinge on politics/religion/etc. it hinges on hard facts.
As long as real proof and empirical data that can't be misconstrued and doesn't require any leaps/fallacies/political views to believe in, then I'm onboard with anything.
New information that is correct should always be taken into consideration and rewrite or overwrite previous views if they are correct and better, that's just obvious.
I don't care about theories, but literal evidence to come out vindicating everything.

But for you, what would it take to change your mind?
Nothing, because you're not acting in good faith in a reasonably logical manner.
You are literally married to this position such that disproving even 1 of your conspiracies literally crumbles your entire whole world view because all of your beliefs are interconnected at such a superficial level it would topple like dominoes one after another.
Pedophile rings connects to pharma connects to tech connects to agriculture connects to whatever, if the pedo rings weren't real, it severely cripples your other beliefs, and since your bought into your cult or schizophrenia that can't happen for you.
So tell me in good faith, what realistically changes your mind?

My ask is reasonable and for literally any other topic no one would have a problem with it, what about you?

Why do you need all possibilities to be condensed down into a probability of 0 or 1?
Probability (how we can handle a lack of certainty) doesn't work that way.
There are things a person believes with varying levels of confidence.
Me not having sufficiently proof for you of one thing doesn't make its probability 0.
You believing something doesn't make its probability 1.

                > good faith
                Reddit/Destinoid term.
You might as well throw in a "bad actor".

It's sounds like you're hung up in some sort of binary choice between 100% trusting institutions or 100% not, and don't want to 0% trust institutions, so you're having this allergic reaction.

Because it is a 1 or 0 functionally speaking.
Whether the pedo rings are real or not both sides of the argument are about the level of credibility, but as such there really is functionally only one or the other, a 0 or 1 since no matter what % of credibility you can prove, you either believe it or don't.
We're determining which is more credible not which is 100% objectively true as that would be impossible.
On that aspect you need to have something more verifiable than existing information to your contrary.

Either way you dodged my point entirely.
I can be moved, you can't and the fact you didn't answer what your mover was proves it.

you aren't at all even trying to explain a coherent logical counter argument to what i'm saying, you tried a straw man where you summarized a limited exchange of words that center around a why, and i counter argued that you should pay attention more to the what, and arrive at speculating the why last, because the why is the toughest to answer and also the least neccessary.

i discussed things that are known facts, the weird child sex and serial killer art that tony podesta has, the fact that james alefentis had weird instagram posts around children and was named one of the most influential people in washington, that hillary literally discussed sacrificing a chicken to moloch in one email, or that toddlers being in a heated pool was called "entertainment" in a political function, and many strange references to hot dogs and pizza that are extremely unlikely to actually be about hot dogs and pizza, and your respond is just like "dude you just dont get it."

that sounds more like you trying to preserve your feeling that i'm stupid for believing this and your smart for not believing this, rather then you trying to actually evaluate the information.

If you've done a deep dive into pizzagate and think there's nothing to it then you're honestly a moron. But chances are you saw some snopes-tier "debunking" and think you know what the case actually is when in reality you don't.

                Anonymous

i don't neccessarily presume that they continue to use the codes. since pizzagate i would assume that the high profile people who do child diddling probably finally did switch up the way they do it. and if there was any reluctance to switch it up its probably a combination of laziness and feeling untouchable, which doesn't neccessarily mean actually being untouchable, just feeling that way, so hubris.

                Well reasoned post

I just can’t comprehend how you don’t see what a useful gullible pawn you are. It’s absolutely mind boggling.

We're all aware that it's objectively true that it's a pedo symbol or code or whatever
It's the leaps and jumps in logic once all already know that which is the schizo part and how you people will have bullshit excuses every time for your confirmation biases
                >if everyone knows the symbol why keep using it?
                >"because you don't have the power to stop them"
                >so what's the point of the symbol anyway if you never had the power to stop it?
                >"it's to taunt everyone and show their power"
                >so what's the point of even hiding it at all from the beginning then?
                >"it's part of the ritual it has to be hidden"
                >but if it has to be hidden then revealing the symbols does the opposite no?

Basically these conspiracies have the perfect amount of exposure to be talked about, but to make the people talking about them seem crazy. If they were less exposed, you wouldn't be desensitized to the theories, and might be more open to them. I learned of this stuff around 2004, before the Illuminati was a household name. When I brought them up, nobody had even heard of them. And first reading about it produced such a shock that it fueled my descent down the rabbit hole. But now it's all a joke. When people try to tell you, you've already heard it, and that extreme shock doesn't happen. You've been successfully filtered.

Not weird at all given that pedophilia was part of the mainstream gay movement and mainstream gay activism until the early 90s, and never really went away from academia. Only really frowned on in the art world in perhaps the late 2000s.

There was WAY to much going on. The first two episodes were decent as it was contained, afterwards it’s just trauma hallucinations and minor character plots that have nothing to do with the story.
The woman with half her face blown off in the first episode looked somewhat intriguing and than it’s never talked about again as other much more boring and mundane memories flood in.

The way this story was designed could've been told in 3 or 4 episodes. Everything relevant happened off-screen in ep 1.
The ""detectives"", upon learning everything in the finale - which is just them being told information by various people, decide to agree with the perps and cover up the crime.

So the Scientists were killed by their own fear out in the dark through all the exposure? The elk running toward the setting sun and away from the darkness even if it lead to a cliff must have described what happened to the scientists out there.

you could say the """official""" reason is an injun spirit killed them, or that's what the show's writer would like you to believe
the in universe explanation is hypothermia does all this in the form of delusions causing them to go wild
            >elk
there's not a very good parallel for this really from a metaphor perspective. in the case of the scientists, they were forced out onto the ice at gunpoint and died in the cold. the caribou/elk just ran off the cliff because reasons, they weren't being chased or anything. the BEST you could say is that both the caribou and the researchers were running to their deaths but that's as far as the comparison goes

          >apparently hank go there before the police did
It was probably the ghost since it left the ectoplasm behind, though it doesn't make any sense why the ghost would have stolen her tongue 7 years beforehand so they could dump it later after the women get revenge
          >all unresolved plot points. at the end of the finale danvers is talking to some other cops in an interrogation and just says "some questions are meant to be unanswered"
They also completely forgot about one of the former researchers that had turned nomad.

It took me 10 minutes. Most of it ended up being correct, it's just that feminism overpowered reason in the writing process and ended up ruining that plot thread unfortunately.

I did realize after I posted it however, that they probably could not have done it that way, because it would imply that Native American Inuit culture was basically a product of schizophrenia caused by bacteria/fungus, and that would result in the writers/production being accused of racism. Basically, it would classify the "sixth sense" of "great spirit" and "I hear the dead" as a mental illness caused by a disease, which would cause a shitstorm on twitter.

But I was dead on for quite a bit of it. I guess I was the True Detective™ all along.

      >Somehow stumbles upon an ultra-advanced lab and for some fricking reasons stays there despite having no incentive

      >Somehow knows it matches the stab wounds on the victim
      >Somehow commandeers a whole platoon of cleaning ladies to barge in Seal team 6 style, round people up and basically execute them.
This unironically was the biggest suspension of disbelief in the season. Yes, much more than people seeing ghosts and caribous jumping off a fricking cliff.
Cleaning ladies are for the most part some of the mentally less inclined people you'll find in your life. Some of them would also have had a good rapport with the scientists. I've lived in places like these, a good third of these people would have mutual respect, and would never believe "le white people bad, kill kill kill xD", and that's before even getting in the weeds of how stressful and terrifying it is to go on a murder mission with 0 training. Don't forget the ex-professor lady who somehow is capable of dismembering and disposing of bodies like it was nothing. Or am I to believe the entire town is just full of complete sociopaths, with the majority of the women there being serial murderers.

The whole science technobabbl made me think of Star Trek.

Picard lands on planet to solve a mystery, bunch of science guys do science stuff and are this close to developing warp drive.
But are willing to sacrifice a city for the greater good for their research.
Due to Prime Directive Picard has to watch them getting murdered by locals. Le very deep moral nuance that makes you think.

By the shows morality a single eskimo woman is worth more than the millions that could potentially have been saved by the microorganism

That's true but they still doomed every cancer patient, kids too, to death just because "muh tribe". Very egoistical mindset.
Many Christians were persecuted and killed against their will but the first communities and then Churches still consider them martyrs.

Agreed. From a global perspective I fully agree with you. But then why would you care about all this progress if your kids still die at birth ? And you would also be correct to say it's worthless and that it won't change anything for you.
                >egotistical
Definitely, but asking you to sacrifice your life and your future for others is also monstrous.

      >Well, I’ll tell you the two stories of the tongue, so our audience can pick. Annie was killed by the scientists, as we know. Clark finishes her off, and then they panic and they call the mine. The mine sends Hank, who has a corrupt relationship with the mine, to take care of the body. So he takes her out of the station and dumps her in a place close to the area of conflict between the mine and the hunters, the people that live of the land. And there, he mistreats the body. He’s the one that kicks the body. He’s the one that cuts the tongue.
      >And all of this is to make it look like it’s a message about the activism against the mine. In my many conversations with John, this is not something Hank enjoys. He disconnects, and it’s a job. It doesn’t mean that he doesn’t haunt him. But I do believe that there is a slight psychopathic streak in Hank to be able to do that violence to a woman. He leaves a tongue there, and walks away.
      >So what happened to that tongue? The version that will work for the people that will read the series as a completely rational story is that the tongue was found by the people of the village. And then the women who know everything knew that they couldn’t take care of Annie’s body in the way that they would like. So one of them keeps a tongue as an act of reverence and kindness to the body that is still going to go through a lot of indignities. They preserve the tongue. Danvers says in Episode 2 that the tongue has some unusual damage, which could be because of freezing. And then when the women come into the station, they leave the tongue as a sign that now is the time of the truth of storytelling — of our storytelling. The stories that Annie couldn’t tell and was silenced for are going to come to the light.

        Anonymous

        >The other version of events is: Annie is left there, and the tongue is cut and the tongue disappears into thin air. And it is Annie who comes with the women into the station, like she’s awake. Clark says, “I knew she was coming.” Annie does visit the station with the women, and leaves her own tongue, because she knows this is how it starts — that she can finally tell her story.
        >So it’s up to you to decide.
It's a choose your own adventure, chuds.
