Siblings will show genuine affection when they're very young and are more free with open affection in general or middle aged and up after they've been through a lot of shit together. But teenagers and young adults will be snarky with each other. The only exception is if there's a substantial age gap. Like a 20 something with an 8 year old little sister. Then the relationship will be more parent-child like.
You're right, I should have qualified that the relative ages of the actors in the ad made it unrealistic. Those dynamics do change with age.
