Snyder unironically irreparably damaged DC as a brand and DC will never fricking recover. His fans won't go to their new movies even if they are good. Their best move right now is to let Snyder finish his trilogy just so his fans finally shut the frick up about it. This will either expose him as a fricking hack idiot and we get two hilarious movies, OR we get two good movies either way it's a win because people WILL watch it either to enjoy it or shit on it. Audiences will do a LOT just to be part of the conversation. When that is done then proceed with the Superman/DCU reboot as planned

I don't even like BVS and even I know this is delusional hyperbole.

WW, Aquaman & Shazam1 were very well received.

      The DCEU died becacuse...

      > They let Affleck quit instead of postponing his Batman movie until he was mentally/emotionally stable (Reeves directing him in the tone/style of the Pattinson movie would have been fricking incredible)

      > Letting that fricking moronic b***h Patty Jinnkies ruin the Wonder Woman brand with 84.

      > Letting radical feminist dyke trash ruin the Harley brand with BOP.

      > Not immediately pushing for a hopeful fun MOS2 after Joss's JL Superman was well received (outside of the face CGI), they got pitches from Steven Knight + the guy who saved X-Men with First Class + the guy whose last Mission Impossible was considered one of the greatest action movies ever made among others and WB turned then all down because they are fricking brain damaged.

      > Not canceling The Flash as soon as the choking video went online. Ezra was the most hated part of either cut of JL, they had zero reason on this earth to give him a movie before MOS2.

What I meant is, Snyder ruined DC because his movies were too divisive. Honestly I'd take a flat out universally hated movie over a divisive one because if you change EVERYTHING about a shit movie, people will flock to see the next one. Look at Batman and Robin and Batman Begins. The problem with divisive movies is you basically alienate half your audience no matter what you do.

It wasn't Snyder that destroyed dc. Wb could have handled the situation in any one of a thousand different ways and had a massively profitable franchise. Their first mistake was forcing their mcu phase 1 equivalent into a trilogy or hiring Snyder depending on you preference. Then they alienated their entire fan base by trashing everything Snyder did, well all the fans they didn't alienate by hiring Snider to begin with. They've shot themselves in the foot and ruined all of dc for everyone. They're almost as bad as sony.

  16. 11 months ago

right now they need to stop all the upcoming dc projects and wait for a few years so people forget about all that nonsense, they start missing the characters and then start again with the superman movie from james gunn till 2030 at least. they can focus on harry potter, barbie and whatever garbage they have in their shelves in the mean time

Just fricking make adaptations of classic comics stories. Do For The Man Who Has Everything. Do Sinestro Corps. Do anything, and stop trying to make a cinematic universe. If Superman needs to show up in a movie, just put Superman in the movie. He's fricking Superman. You don't need to explain to the audience who he is with another origin story movie. Hell, if you need to put Jonah Hex in a movie, just have him show up in a scene riding on a horse and shoot some bad guy while mentioning a bounty. People will put two and two together.

You have some of the most famous and most versatile characters in modern history. Don't worry about tone or established actors. Have Josh Brolin play a super dark and gritty Batman if that's what you want, then the following year make another Batman movie that's silly and campy like the Adam West version. Who cares? It's Batman.

honestly? stop adapting comic book movies for at least six years. Instead of vaporizing money and destroying the brand like this, give it a cool down. Fire that moron gunn who would unironically be worse than snyder. Just make standalone movies that aren't interconnected.

In the interim, fund mid-budget new IPs.

Do injustice but not shit like that last animated film. And then never explain who all the characters are because you don't actually need origin story movies to use a character.

      >you don't actually need origin story movies to use a character.
      Very true.
But you do need a movie to introduce stand alone characters. Like batman. Hell, i would have had a sympathetic stand alone lex luthor movie just to sell to smallville fans. Not as an anti hero, but as a villain that genuinely thinks he's doing the right thing.

Make action movies with strong male role models and sexy women, filled with adventure energy. People are absolutely sick of deconstruction, it has finally gone the way of the dodo and they are now craving super action man that does cool shit and gets the girl. Sweeney Todd proved dark musicals work. Just don't watch Joker 2 with the idea it has to be anything like the first one. The first one was nothing like the rest of capeshit and it was all the better for it. Let them expand and be different.

Take a fricking breather from the DC movies, you'll just dig yourself a bigger hole.

Smaller budgets, more intimate stories like Joker and Nolan Batman.

Batman as detective, practical effects, don't have a shared universe and spread it out to different people with different visions.

Don't try to do Marvel you already fricked up.

Honestly The Batman and Joker was a good direction. Make it feel like DC Black Label or something, where filmmakers get to make the movies they want to make and tell the stories they want to tell without worrying about shared universe bullshit. It's no coincidence that those were some of DCs more successful movies over the last decade.

  36. 11 months ago
    Anonymous

It's simple. We... uhh... make sequels to the Batman, Joker, and follow up with superhero movies entirely disconnected from a shared universe, make the 2 missing sequels of the Snyderverse...

For short focussing on pseudo-arthouse with renowed director, actors and writers, each one having their style, because that's what worked with the Nolan trilogy.
