    >Spider-Man, The Human Torch, Iceman, and Shadowcat
A hell of a super team.
Almost like that Spider-Man and his Amazing Friends cartoon but that was Firestar, not Johnny.

You know, they originated wanted it to be Johnny but couldn’t due to legal issues

Yeah, I heard that apparently they originally wanted to make it with Human Torch but couldn’t because he was supposed to appear in an F4 show. So they created Firestar to kill two birds with one stone by having both a replacement Torch and a female cast member

            Some proof

            https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Spider-Man_and_His_Amazing_Friends_(1981_TV_series)
            >The series was an attempt by NBC to replicate some of the success ABC enjoyed with the Super Friends franchise.[5] The makers of the show originally intended the stars to be Spider-Man, Iceman, and the Human Torch.[5] However, legal issues about the rights to the Human Torch character (which had also plagued Marvel once before for the 1978 Fantastic Four cartoon) led to the Human Torch being replaced by a new character, Firestar, who had similar powers, but was a mutant like Iceman. Due to Firestar's popularity with fans, she has since become a part of the mainstream Marvel Universe. In pre-production, Firestar's codename changed frequently; the unused names include Firefly, Starblaze, and Heatwave.

Isn't Firestar also a mutant? I recall an episode where her and Iceman go to see the X-Men for a bit.

Yeah. I think the showrunners though it would be easier to have her be a mutant than come up with yet another new origin story for the powers. Having them just activate was easier

Was there ever a point in development where Firestar was going to be MJ with powers? Or is it just pure coincidence that she looks a lot like MJ when out of costume?

I think they had to scramble to make a new hero so they gave her a design similar to MJ.

Though on a funny side note, a friend and I had a discussion the other day on what powers MJ would have if she had some and we decided on water manipulation. it was actually a tie between that and lycanthropy

Yep. And the origin we came up with for the powers was kind of worse. We joked that the clone would beg for her life and somehow fuse with the main MJ to stay alive. Giving her the power to control but not become water
So MJ would have gained memories of her own technical death by evaporation and absorption

Wasn't she just girlfriend with Spider-Man in The Ultimate Universe and not really had any real time with him in the 616?

None, he stays uninvolved and just fricks up baddies in space. He actively hates when the good guys are doing stupid shit amongst themselves. He’s perfect.

Guess that works. But Spider-Man’s no bs team should only have eight or nine member slots in total. So that it’s like the legs on a spider

I dunno, uncorrupted by the marvel germ that makes its characters either borderline villains or weird political mouthpieces. Just about saving the day, not making some weird Illuminati or working on a presidential campaign.

Squirrel Girl? Also Kamala doesn’t seem like a terrible person, she just a nerd who was forced to skip the street level part of her career by jerk heroes forcing her into bigger roles.
Carol stole her chance to have a rogues gallery before it even developed
