People were pretty open minded to such films back then.
Did he redeem?
We have to go back
You know what I like about Shyamalan? He's a POC filmmaker. Have any of his films brought attention to his race? How many race based controversies has he indulged in? He was lauded for his skills and was mocked just as heavily when he went down(even today Shyamalamadingdog is used by people but I can guarantee it would cause a shitstorm if a similar treatment was given to a Chinese or Nig filmmakers). Heck, It just dawned on me that he's Indian when I read the redeem comment just now.
Weirdly enough, I thought he was a Christian convert but apparently not religious but just went to a Roman Catholic School.
>ultra rich dude doesn't care about politics because he knows it works in his favor
Not that laudable tbh
>Have any of his films brought attention to his race?
>How many race based controversies has he indulged in?
He whitewashed and poowashed Avatar.
Vs rich dude that pretends to care about politics to appease the Hollywood israelites? Yea I’m thinking he’s based
That's how it was back in the day. Also, pajeets operate on merit, not gibs.
devil is one of my favourite movies, i really liked the twist how the devil was [SPOILER] the old lady in the elevator [SPOILER]//
use ctr+s next time bro
Even though Old was fricking garbage I had fun watching it. I will absolutely watch the next Shamylan spooky twist movie.
His films always have entertainment value outside of Airbender and After Earth.
>after earth
that reminds me, didn't jaden smith throw a temper tantrum at his daddy for making him do that movie? made me kek.
>over a billion dollars
Studios take so much money once they agree to finance your movie, and they don't even do the work
Smh...
shyamalan has to be the most underrated director today. he has some misses but his filmography isnt nearly as bad as people say.
yes i watched signs recently and honestly it's such a cute movie that really holds up
He self funded spilt and glass, they were great low budget films. Split is topnotch.
Old was ok too but feel like the actors let it down a bit. The idea was good, execution not so much.
Directors like Peele make their whole schtick about being a minority making films but no one thinks twice about shamalamalam.
How is Signs not sci-fi?
It is. OP, as usual, is a homosexual.
God I fricking hate zoomers no offense
none taken
Split made $280 million on a $10 million budget. Shyamalan is box office gold
yeah, he was a pretty big deal at the time
People went wild for The Sixth Sense at the time. Literally everyone was talking about it. He was able to ride that for a while until people were getting a bit tired of his twist schtick by the time of The Village.
lady in the water made everyone go "...huh?" it was pretty dogshit
I actually liked it. It had a weird sense of comfy for me that I can't put my finger on. It felt like one of those eighties films like Batteries Not Included where it's about a bunch of neighbours dealing with special circumstances.
>aren't sci-fi
Signs is literally about aliens.
That's why he still keeps getting financed no matter what garbage he puts out
Unbreakable is his best movie and they should have greenlit the sequel immediately.
