It is subbed. It is not subbed well. Even with a decent grounding in crabstick and having seen the series recently, it was not an easy thing to understand.
Yeah, the compilation film was a prequel. Also the girlfriend had premonitions of the main series for some reason. I watched it with total crabsticks, so not sure what her deal was. Still, it was easy enough to follow. It was mostly reused animation telling a new story, until the end when it becomes about how they got the Maihama Server onto the moon. The updated CG models for the new scenes looked really nice.
Someone at Sunrise probably likes it too much. Also, living in a simulation and AI stories seem to be hot right now.

That reminds me: Phi-Brain and Buddy Complex are the only ones that rated "sunny (more than 50% chance of happening)" in the survey Sunrise held before.
Olta Moda?
we've gotten a bunch of SOCIAL MEDIA! IN THE FUTURE!!!! already but it might be interesting to see a Zegapain take on it
or they'll just do the same story again with a spare character or something
curious to see where they take the aesthetic of the robots with a (theoretically) better experienced crew and more modern tech
>Zegapain sequela
Okay, what the actual frick.
I'm not complaining, since i love the shwo, but this feels extremely weird. What can they even do with the story, if its a sequel. The story was pretty much wrapped nicely by the end, unless they plan to dip into side materials like the games. Can we get a rerelease of the games, bamco?
It doesn't matter to Sunrise they will find a way to make room for older IP's so they could gain support with old and new fans. Also Sunrise isn't gonna waste time in making remakes either.
It's sort of both and I'm not sure how much of either was intended.
it's intended, the movie is about Kyo that died in episode 1
It is subbed. It is not subbed well. Even with a decent grounding in crabstick and having seen the series recently, it was not an easy thing to understand.
It is actually a prequel to the TV show and not subbed.
anyone got japanese/chinese or any human made subs? checking if putting it into ChatGPT will output eligible english
Before I watch it (and rewatch the show) though, I'd like to watch the prequel movie since I've never had the chance to. Shame it hasn't been subbed but hopefully since this has been announced it'll drum up interest.
The National Swim Club Association of Japan.
me, im that guy
your favorite GAR EPIC XD overshaded 80's cyberpunk mecha can all go to hell
>more mecha
me, I asked for this
Not all mecha is good.
While true, I'm not sure I've seen a show that was completely valueless. Even something I ultimately find terrible usually has a few things I like.
t. the moron that's always claiming mecha is dead
>NENZPOM ENGEALO XTLGITD TAEANAA
Russian collusion?
Holy shit. Been years since I’ve seen the show, maybe I’ll give the compilation movie a shot
Hope you can understand Japanese.

I am fluent crabstick be speaking one
Wait, it was a prequel? I've spent the past 7 years not watching it because I thought it was a compilation movie.
It's sort of both and I'm not sure how much of either was intended.

First ending was gre
I don't know why they sold the movie as compilation when it was clearly a prequel.
Woah
I don't fricking remember shit from Zegapain and I really don't have the time for a rewatch
I remember it being something like The Matrix but with mecha. I thought they already wrapped this up with that ending.
- Ugly CG.
- The MC loves tuna.
- There's a gay guy who's a bro and not homosexual at all.
- ENTANGURU.
Tard
I did
and I still do.
A fair bit of /m/ back in the day asked. Though I don't know if it's nostalgia or a genuine desire for a sequel.
I mean it's more mecha so it's cool but why a Zegapain sequel now, we getting a Buddy Complex sequel next?
We'll get the Hakaioh anime next
Someone at Sunrise probably likes it too much. Also, living in a simulation and AI stories seem to be hot right now.
why do you try to rationalize a reason for why new anime gets made, I will never understand that behavior
Money. Money is involved. Money runs the world.
no shit sherlock
Buddy Complex was good and anyone thinking otherwise is a homosexual.
No next is a sequel to Basquash.
Recent sequels to shows with Shoji Kawamori involvement have a pretty fricking bad track record.
Someone didn’t watch the second Delta movie

Nah, frick them for axing Mirai Arise
This is definitely the most random sequel announcement I've seen in a while
Why the frick hasn't there been a sequel to S-Cry-ed though?
2023 continues to be the year of odd sequels being announced and vaporware becoming real.
Definitely excited for the sequel though. The original was neat. One of the better 2000s Sunrise shows.
A new revival is near

Mai Hime sequel project is very much happening.
Cross Ange DESTINY!
DARE GA MITEIRU BIJUARU
Now do Kuromukuro
>Zegapain came out when the Matrix hype has died down
>Now its sequel is coming out when Metaverse shit is dying down
at least that's consistent.
Olta Moda?

can i get an Argevollen sequel next
Wasn't that show a prequel to a gacha game or something
You might be thinking of something else like the Magnificent Kotobuki had a tie-in game.
Hey Sunrise, can you animate Hakaioh and Sworgrader please?
>Zegapain sequela

Oh god, it's going to be related to that weird looking Zegapain 2 pachinko game isn't it ?

Why are the Japanese such degenerate gamblers?
Because the illegality of prostitution meant that the only outlet was now gambling.
How do you make a sequel to an anime that didn't really leave much open for a sequel?
It doesn't matter to Sunrise they will find a way to make room for older IP's so they could gain support with old and new fans. Also Sunrise isn't gonna waste time in making remakes either.

For fricks sake why?
Because frick you
Frick me but why?
Reviving every IP they have and throwing it at the kitchen sink and see which ones will stand on top in the Reiwa era
Someone should say "mecha is dead" more often because it seems like everytime someone says that, some random ass series gets revived instead
mecha is dead
You just greenlit the Kyoukai Senki feature film.
Well shit; mecha is really dead now.
No joke, I’d rather have them make another season to Valvrave.
Maybe that’ll be next on the cards.
Those random future time skip scenes out of nowhere were funny
I asked for it
Me, I asked for it

I didn't, but sure, why not.
NOOOOO IT ENDED PERFECTLY YOU Black folk STOP IT SUNRISE STOP
