>Anon saves Cinemaphile from Black person exposure
>"and we’ve kind of got to tell a lie: we’ll go back into history and there will be black people where, historically, there wouldn’t have been, and we won’t dwell on that. We’ll say, ‘To hell with it, this is the imaginary, better version of the world. By believing in it, we’ll summon it forth.’ And, outside of the fiction, it’s about anyone feeling that they can be involved in this industry as an actor, a director, a writer"

oh shit I forgot about this, thanks for reminding me
It does look kino. I’ll be the only one in the theater for this. And Blue Beetle. Just like I was for Ninja Turtles.
The meg 2 was pretty full and I saw lots of morons wearing pink going to see barbie.
>Blue Beetle
I might have to see that
It's basically Alien on a a boat.
That sounds fricking amazing,
And with Black folk
t. never seen Alien
Alien takes place in the future and they’re just space truckers. If anything the entire crew should be Indian, which would have the Xeno trying to avoid being raped by the crew.
So there's going to be talk about the bonus situation?
No
if the black doctor on the dracula boat talks about not getting paid enough or any kind of bonus talk, this movie will be kino
A completely straight period-piece remake of Alien, but with Dracula, would be amusingly kino. The black guy is the doctor, though, instead of a lowly technician. So that's not what we're getting. Sadly.
What unironically would be kino is if we found out that Walter Hill was inspired by that chapter of the book
What's the bonus situation on board the Demeter?
Underrated comment
Alien is on a boat you idiot.
it's a ship, not a boat, moron
It's a vessel not a ship, mongoloid
a blood vessel if you will
How are they gonna make that work? Nostromo was actually supposed to be a pretty big ship so it makes sense that the Alien has plenty of space to creep around, if it’s just a regular 19th century cargo ship then wouldn’t it be really easy to find him?
I'm hyped unironically

i guess i cant think of any vampire movies since then that were very good
Same. Cant go wrong with a good vampire monster movie. Especially onr like this where my brother Dracula is going to kill everyone and get away with it.
I don't think Dracula is going to kill the doctor.
Dracula kills everyone in the book. He'll die for sure.
>inb4 the black doctor and the white woman escape in a lifeboat.
I'll be first in line to shit on the movie if they do that.
You think they'll kill a doctor?
Everyone but one, exposure did in that last poor bastard. Best chapter by far.
Kek you think this is going to be faithful to the book? Literally no Dracula movie ever has been faithful to the book, not even the Bella Lugosi one.
They are basing an entire movie on ONE fricking chapter, it's going to be 90% made up shit.
amazing part of the book
The captain died on the wheel like a chad
Dracula didnt kill him?
There is a Black person on this boat in a time where there were no Black folk on this boat. So I don't care about this woke dogshit.
>in a time where there were no Black folk on this boat
Eh, British naval vessels were probably the one place you'd actually be able to find odd minorities. No too picky about who they pressed, especially off of foreign vessels.
Never mind. It has a Black person doctor. Should have known.
It was a merchant ship not naval
Pretty ignorant take. Its a merchant ship
seems like itd be hard to frick up. even that netflix dracula show had a good boat EP
>Black personflix
How many Black folk were on that boat?
>directed by andre ovredal
Could be good
>black doctor with a white love interest in the 1890s
Pass
There was a doctor in the book?
Hellsing and Seward(sp?) from the mental hospital.
Can someone explain this meme?
The film stars a black actor as a doctor on the ship. Anon is pictured ringing a large and ancient bell, referencing a meme where a man's wife buys him a bell to ring every time a black person is in a film so he doesn't have to complain about it verbally.
He is not just some actor, he is MC in this movie.
The MC is Dracula. In case you never read the book, he kills everyone and makes it to England.
What if the doctor defeats Dracula?
Then its a moronic movie that makes no sense.
What's wrong with a learned character defeating a vampire?
dracula does some stuff when he's not on a boat later on. would seem kinda odd if he's defeated at sea by jiggaboo jenkins
>jiggaboo jenkins
He is a graduate from Cambridge
he's an affirmative action dude who was lucky to graduate high school and get a b movie role, nothing terribly impressive
I mean Dracula also never transformed into a giant bat monster in the books, just a normal bat and I'm pretty sure the crew never actually got much of a look at Dracula they just all went paranoid and crazy because -something- they didn't know about was killing them all. I recall one or two of them just killed themselves out of paranoid fear. The doctor character killing him would fit the theme of the book of science and reason prevailing over old world superstition but the movie looks kind of generic and shitty tbqh.
I bet he gets bit, and this film is just a setup for Dark Universe Blacula
Bro if that actually happened I would fricking die, come back as a vampire, and die again from laughing
>come back as a vampire
that's not how vampires work, anon

It's story about doctor even if he dies at the end. Hollywood doesn't care about source material.
stop spoonfeeding them
The episodes of Dracula on the boat were kino
Shame about the horrible ending
https://www.imdb.com/title/tt9139220/
How did you stomach that all the way to the end? The nun by herself was enough to turn me off, the other characters didn't help either.
This
The moment i heard 'Blah blah educated woman' empowerment tripe out of nowhere i turned off and walked away. Its so weird that ep1 didnt have any of that shit and ep2 goes straight to ultra fem garbage almost instantly
This show was unwatchable dogshit and if you enjoyed it, you should have a nice day.
Some of the worst dialogue and acting I have seen in decades and Dracula played like a gigantic homosexual.
Barely made it through the first episode.
awful drek
I gave it a fair shake after you shilled for it in the last demeter thread. garbage

That trailer sucked dick!!!!
And I'll add, adding 90s music to retro films/trailers is played out!
Another vampire fail! Dark Universe keeps losing! You'll never be Marvel. Hell, you'll never even be DC. Thread hidden, I'm done dabbing on you vampcucks. And I need to get more beer.
> not having a fridge stocked with fine cheap ales..
saw this chick pulling out a cross in the Cruel Intentions movie. couldn't believe the cheek with how distractingly big her israeli nose was, but maybe that's part of the character, i only watched the one scene
This film cancelled itself with its anti-white revisionist message.
But i guess that ESG BlackRock money feels good.
qrd?
those big mega companies at the bottom invest more money into other companies who pledge to bring on tikkun olam ie. promote certain political and social agendas
I know but what's the link with the movie?
Film and theater studios are making such pledges and enforcing them.
oh yea i dont know what specifically is anti-white in the new MI movie, havent seen it
The film is about a black physician with a Cambridge degree, in the fricking XIXth century, belittling white men and fricking the white woman on the boat.
This type of ludicrous racial propaganda is pushed by globalist powers through investment funds who created a financial rating system based on promoting anti-white and LGBTQ messages.
That's called the ESG score system. If you don't go woke, you lose your financing from these trillion dollar fund management firms.
Nice try op
IITAI YAMETEH!!!
>Black person main character
I remember this part of the book is like a slasher movie or something
>This movie is going to be good.
Not going to watch. Take your Black folks and shove them.
>R rated Dracula film
>released 2 fricking months before Halloween
Honestly cant decide if that's a vote of no confidence of if studios are just too fricking moronic to do things right any more
They can't release every horror movie in October. No one would watch this movie if it's going uo against bigger names in theaters.
Could be just a temperature check
THE WORLD IS A VAMPIRE
Shakedown
DING DING DING DING DING DING DING
Doesn't seem like a theater movie. I'll watch it at home.
They could have had my money but they made a little casting error, so now they will not have my money.
$5?
Doubt this can be topped to be fair.
I didn’t recognize this at first and thought that was Phil Dunphy of Modern Family. It would be kino if they did a Fright Night style movie with him as a vampire. Unrelated why are they unironically slapping the Smashing Pumpkins on the trailer of this movie?
>I didn’t recognize this at first and thought that was Phil Dunphy of Modern Family
Lel I thought it was ty burrell as well and got excited for a moment because he would be an awesome serious dracula.
Because it has the word vampire in it and they have to make it obvious for people since they didn't put Dracula in the title.
more like The Last Box Office Bomb Of The DeBlack person
Carlos
It looks generic.
>Vampire flying around in a storm on a boat with a shitload of water everywhere that vampires are weak against
The concept is stupid from the get-go, made by corporate homosexuals. It should have just been a throw-away demon, not that it matters. It'll go into the garbage either way
Dracula is on the ship in the novel, too. This movie does seem uninspired and boring but I don't know why people fixate on a vampire being on a boat.
It isn't that a vampire is on a boat. The issue is, unlike this stupid movie, the vampire moves with stealth in the book, slowly dispatching the crew one at a time. Nobody has any idea what is going on until the very end, when one of the last few crewmen spot the vampire and attempts to kill it, but the knife fails. Then the crewmen kills himself, throwing himself into the sea, leaving only the terrified captain standing outside
The vampire keeps out of the storm, out of the water, out of sight. It avoids water and avoids being spotted, which is the opposite of the movie
Fair point. The whole ship part in the original story served a very specific purpose that isn't reflected in this movie at all. It just seems like a standard slasher movie.
He's only weak to running water (i.e. a river) in the book.
Why?
because them's the rules
Does anyone know if Dracula says "bleh bleh bleh" at any point in the movie? I'm not going to see it if not.
>A Cambridge educated doctor from 1897.
I just looked it up. There were seven black graduates of cambridge before 1897, none of them in medicine.
Victorian England as portrayed by Hollywood seems positively littered with them.
Where did the Black person doctor in the poirot movie (who had a white gf) study?
Didn't see that one, but I did see two recent Agatha Christie adaptations. In one, Agatha helps a girl get away with murdering her father so that she can racemix with an algerian. In the second, Agatha's husband is black!
you didn't tell me it was the same actor who portrayed Dr. Dre! NOW I'm buying it!
>look at me, i'm the doctah now shieet
I'd like to see the trailer recut and it's just the Black person looking menacing.
>The Incel of Notre Dame.
hahaha
I have Black person fatigue simple as
>Dracula movie #749
That's why there no hype
what kino is this from?
1492: Conquest of Paradise (1992)
Mediocre movie but the score is god tier
i saw the trailer for it a couple days ago when i went to see mission impossible. was kinda stoked to see something like this, but like many others, i noticed an incorrect casting choice and wrote it off.
For some reason it's listed along dark universe movies. Does it mean they rejected Renfield version of Dracula over this? The frick is going on there? Secret sequel to Dracula Untold?
>the scorpion king
lmao. theres no way its gonna be good, and ill still watch it. ive seen the first one and actually liked it, but i would never tell anyone
New one is supposed to be a horror. Probably closer to actual Scorpion King historical figure rather than CGI'ed Dwayne Johnson.
the "actual" scorpion king movie wasnt a cgi mosh of the rock and a scorpion. he basically played like a prince of persia character and slew bad guys with curved swords and bows. it was kinda neat. also had a cutie sorceress that didnt wear much clothing
I thought it was a sequel to the mummy returns with scorpion king acting as secondary antagonist. Then googled and there are 6 scorpion king films.
lol shiet. i knew the first and second one. had no clue they've been making them for years.
>Probably closer to actual Scorpion King historical figure
lol wut
I hope they make The Invisible Woman, The Wolf Man, Van Helsing, Bride of Frankenstein, Frankenstein, Creature from the Black Lagoon, Dracula, The Phantom of the Opera, The Hunchback of Notre Dame, The Invisible Man and the Scorpian King all Black. We deserve it because of slavery.
>Commissioner Gordon
>black
they've gone too far
stop trying to make dark universe happen gretchen, it's not going to happen
If it follows the radio play it's more of a psychological thriller with Dracula psychically manipulating and terrorising the crew, picking them off until there's no one left but Umbungu.
It looks like a 2003 made for USA network movie.
trailer gives too much away
>theater only release
No thanks
Covid should’ve killed theaters
Universal studio doesn't have own streaming platform.
So? Throw it up on all platforms for $20. It would make more than it will in theaters
Im really looking forward to it anon, I hope its good, this year has been so fricking shit for kino.
>Universal
Dark Universe attempt #4
>The world is a vampire
>universel is trying another dracula after cage flop and chris evans flop
cute
even better than dc warner bros and their batman attempts
Dracula:
You think you can destroy me with your idols? I who served the Cross, I who commanded nations, hundreds of years before you were born?!
Van Helsing:
Your armies were defeated! You tortured and impaled thousands of people!
Dracula:
I was betrayed. Look what your God has done to me!
Van Helsing:
No! Your war with God is over, you must pay for your crimes!
So he is canonically Vlad the Impaler?
Popularized in the Coppola movie, but never confirmed in the book.
It's a shame they never made a movie that is centered mainly around that aspect of Dracula. I know the Luke Evans movie exists but it went a pretty PG route and he was kind of a Byronic hero in that.
This ruined dracula forever
>Ruined
It's a good movie series. Certainly not the first silly take on vampires
I thought it looked good at first, but the Smashing Pumpkins song in the trailer made me drop it.
There is a reason why there is no single human on this poster, i wonder if anons can guess what is that.
I know that's the ship's name. But it's a horrible title for a Dracula movie. How many people could figure out what's this about without actually reading the book first?
From the poster, it seems to he about Dracula travelling to England. I have read the book but don't remember the name of the ship.
How the frick? I thought Universal gave up with these monster movies after The Mummy and just gave it to Blumhouse to run into grounds.
My guess is it's gonna be a 3/5
I'm going to see it the night it comes out
bleh!
Looks like kino is back on the blehnu.
Apparently it's from dark universe?
>Sailing into theatres on the 11th of August, 2023, The Last Voyage of the Demeter and its trailer promise to be impressive and maybe the horrifying break that Universal needs to start its Dark Universe properly.
Dark Universe is just a buzzword, it's a concept for something that so far does not exist.
I find it funny that people are still talking about it as the superhero universes are falling apart.
I truly loathe "universes"
just make movies, if it makes sense then sure, make them connected, but having a stupid "canon arc" almost always turns out a detriment
dark universe is no longer mcu like cashgrab where you have one story over 15 movies and 3 tv series. now it's 'universe' (as in terms of 'world') of classic monsters from universal. its the same how original monsters universe worked. series of separate movies with occasional crossovers between some.
for example dracula in this film is played by the same actor who played seth god in the mummy. however despite same casting, its not the same character.
also dark universe will be a land for all universal monsters. they are actually building it, copyrighted some names for dark universe park and wolfman theme ride
dark universe is ironically growing bigger and bigger every day, in orlando florida, possibly opening in 2025
how the frick are they going to make a theme park based on these
>hey kids, remember the invisible man?! watch out for him, because we're entering... the tunnel of domestic violence!
They're still trying to create a universe?
yes but not in marvel style
their 'universe' means multiple franchises coexisting together like galaxies in our universe
I wanna see it.
Guess you have to like vampires, and not the gay sparkling type.
>the world is a vampire
No, I don't think it's going to be good, OP.
Wait, wasn't this a videogame? I think this is a videogame where you piece together what happened, spoiler: they all die.
Wow, i have such a weird deja vu right now. I could have sworn i heard of this project, in whatever form, years ago. And no, i'm not talking about the original novel but even people on Cinemaphile getting mad that they made the main character black and a doctor.
I liked the premise but turning Dracula into just a generic gargoyle monster turned me off the movie and now it looks boring and generic tbqh
The design is the most interesting part, I'm tired of seeing regular humans with fake teeth glued on
the whole part that was creepy about that part in the book though is that they never even really saw dracula or knew what the frick was going on. they just kept getting picked off in the middle of the night and the crew went crazy.
nta and I agree with you that hiding the monster is much better, especially in this case. That being said, I have always LOVED the giant bat monster trope for Dracula as a transformation. Love it in the Castlevania games. Love it in the Coppola movie. And I love the design here too. So I'm fine with it here. Is it less scary? Yes. Objectively. But its cool.
It looks like shit. An action movie with a horror theme. Why would I need to watch it when they've shown every cool shot of the creature in the trailer already? They did an extreme face closeup as if it isn't one of the cardinal sins of horror to fully reveal the danger like its casual nothing. Effects look good but that isn't anything difficult for a feature film in the current age that isn't made up of cheap outsourced CGI.
This just looks completely forgettable, man. You already know the outcome if you know anything about the book so there are absolutely no stakes. Is a half-cliche looking vampire creature really enough for people to pretend this is promising?
Is there any financial reason they decided to not release this film in October where it would actually make money?
Maybe they have a bigger movie for that. Or maybe they have little faith in it. It seems experimental.
It's because you release action movies in the summer and you release horror movies around Halloween. Dont tell me you really watched the trailer and thought this was anything but a popcorn flick with a spooky theme?
Are you in denial about how big Saw X is gonna be, or did it just slip your mind?
Because they knew it was a terrible that only exists thanks to ESG. They just want to release it and be done with it.
Isn't everyone going to die, with the only guy remaining being the captain who strapped himself to the wheel?
Or is this going to be some stupid bullshit where the heroes win for some reason?
The doctor will survive
>Vampires
"Ok"
>Black doctor in 1890
"WHAT IS THIS BROOO MY IMMERSION IS BROKEN BROOOOOOOOOO"
You people are dunces.
>never forget all the racism against blacks throughout history
>oh by the way, black were hired for jobs everywhere and nobody had a problem with it.
It still happened. My great grandfather fought in WWII and the British treated him better than the Americans did.
and Albert Einstein was there to clap.
Are you stupid?
No, you're just full of shit.
Vampires are more believable than black doctors
>disingenuous moron using same moronic argument
There actually were black doctors during this time period which is the funniest thing
and they had bones in their noses, right?
vampires are real unlike black people.
remember: the same frickers that say this shit themselves over stuff like pic
i've seen monsters kill and eat humans. i havent seen a black doctor who got by on merit-alone
>ackshually the genre being "fantasy" means you should completely disregard all rules and logic both in real life and in the context of the film's world
why are californians like this?
Dracula looks like he’ll be completely CGI from the trailer
It just looks like an excuse for historical interracial romance to be filmed so frick this gay shit, imagine shoehorning Dracula to have your blacked fanfiction?
What’s with all these Black Men White Woman movies coming out? It’s like the only thing Hollywood is obsessed with now
they know it pisses people off. It's all just spitework
Diversity
Self-inserters?
Is this a vampire pirate movie or some shit? That sounds cool as frick and honestly makes me want to see it.
Reminder the characters here are trapped in a ship hired by Dracula to be alone with him for a long, maybe eternal time, so their world might REALLY be a vampire. Haters can only hate on not coming up with this episodic kino before in order to to make any money out of it.
WELL HE WAS RIDING HIS BIKE
WHEN THERE WAS A LIGHTNING STRIKE
NOW HE READS REAL FAST
HE'S GOOD AT SCIENCE AND MATH
BLACK DOCTOR
It's refreshing having a learned character who is well-versed in medicine as the mc in a movie set in the Victorian Era.
I will not watch a movie with a black lead in any capacity. Hollywood has burnt my good will with blackwashing and calling Whites evil. This could have been a Kubrick film and I wouldn’t watch it.
>horror
I'll pass, thanks.
What's with the awful soundtrack?
I love this concept but the idea that a vampire could successfully hide from the crew of an age of sail three-masted tall ship is moving past fiction into science fiction. It would be like setting the film inside a very large mobile home with hundreds of people packed inside and one of them "hiding" from the rest.
magic, you fricking dumb Black person
He can turn into a bat and mist and mesmerize people but yeah it's too small for that idea to work.
I would imagine ships in the 1890s, 20 years before the Titanic, were a bit larger and more advanced than Golden Age of Piracy ships.
I never heard of this is this a Game of Thrones Story or a Knives Out Mystery or what
BLEHHH
>bluegrey genre shit #2138947293042 is going to be epic!!!
yeah ok pleb
All films are part of a genre you moron
1. Renfield killed the hype
2. No Dracula in the title so normies don't understand what it is
But yes I'm looking forward to it too.
>Black man is white woman's mate in 1890s
I am not racist but why
The usual diversity quota
How does anyone tell a story with this craziness ? It's okay if it's a conscious decision of the author but if it's something ordered by the studio it's bullshit.
You don't it's why everything made in the last decade has been fricking horrible.
I think this is okay because it is the author's decision even though it is not faithful to the source material. I don't respect it but it's better than no creative control over the final material.
>I think this is okay
the fault lies with him
What would Bram Stoker think of this?
This is the face he'd make.
What have they done to his work?
She isn't
I bought a ticket for it yesterday and watching it on Saturday, pretty excited
Nobody wants that. They should pretend like it doesn't exist and make coppolas BSD 2.0
Once again Americans make another great movie
I've liked the directors other works. I'll watch it on streaming
People cannot deal with how bad movies are so they pretend things are better than they are. Grow a pair.
I have nothing against black people, and there are plenty of stories you can tell with prominent black characters but thats not what we're talking about. We're talking about this agenda to alter how we perceive the past.
i just want to see botet as dracula
amazing choice
