I don't even enjoy watching modern movies. Last one I saw was Roger Rabbit. It's the kind of movie you can't make anymore, not because it's graphic or whatever, it just had so much personality and care put into it. Movies now are sanitized focus group products.

It IS boring crap. I've read the book. The reality is, at best, they were ALL idiots. But Scorcese couldn't help himself and made the Osage wise and all-knowing and all the white people over-the-top stupid. Which is just makes the whole thing incongruous. It also doesn't help that the acting is awful, especially the people hired to do the killings. I assume he wanted cinema verite in their performances by hiring non-actors, but it just comes across as non-actors acting poorly. DiCaprio constantly grimacing and the fricking Buddisht he's married to ...awful.
