Today they are expected to get perfect grades and all sorts of extracurriculars so they can get into a state college so they have option to work a low tier wagie job. I know so many boomers who admit to being delinquents for most of their youth before turning it around in their 20's and making a decent living.

        [...]
It's cyclical; youths get like this right when a civilization is getting ready to collapse

Pic related, Socrates made this boomer ass complaint and within a generation Athens fell from the world's dominant superpower, never to return

Smartphone use is the big gamechanger. The Socrates quote is peak midwit appeal to authority. What fricking seismic technological progressions occured between Socrates's generation and his contemporary youth? Nothing. Smartphones are verifiably lowering IQ. No amount of race mixing bs can account for the universal IQ drop. This is not just effecting the youth, everyone is getting dumber. You don't magically escape the effects of mass communication because you graduated highschool a decade ago and not yesterday.

The harsh truth is that culture should be dictated by elites. When you give the common man a platform he spreads his viral idiocy which resonates with the majority of idiots. Stagnation occurs and higher order high time preference ideas get choked out for low time preference instant gratification expressions. Democracy is the worst possible system for the improvement let alone mere maintenance of intellectual capability.

Even if you solve the "sourcing" problem like China attempts to with their tiktok algorithm attempting to advertise skilled professions you still reap the negative traits of smart phone addiction. These are far far more destructive than the sourcing problem showing effects on attention spans and out competing engagement with other activities in favor of smart phone use.

tl;dr: everyone is getting stupider and zoomers are just canaries in the coal mine. No regulatory system can balance the benefits with the negatives when it comes to smart phone use. The behavior modification damage (addiction)is too strong to offset the benefits of the social engineering propaganda.

and earbuds. when you are constantly entertained, you less likely to learn and grow. there is data from animal experiments that illustrates this. the brain needs time off from entertainment. we need time to think

          >problem showing effects on attention spans and out competing engagement with other activities in favor of smart phone use.

Digital text tracking vs. print is significantly different enough to compound ADD tendencies, requiring and adjustment period between the two. Mass public 'education' makes a farce of literacy to maintain the shuck and jive of "one man one vote", as if personal and political agency were uniform and bad inputs were worth soliciting from a qualitatively obese electorate. People everywhere and at all times are this way - it's not the phones - two centuries of modern medical intervention on infant mortality = the proliferation of mutational load to physical and mental/spiritual detriment of the individual and civilization world wide. The proportions of morons to well bred has never been worse with upwards of seven billion man-ants running around.

Im 24. Im pretty sure most of us are really really dumb. Myself included but I'm just low iq, had nothing to do with upbringing my parents tried their absolute best I just have no capacity to be an intellectual.

The making mistakes bit earlier ITT is super accurate though, I am utterly terrified of making mistakes and asking for help is usually very unpleasant for me. It's why I like lifting because most people I meet who are into it like giving advice and help and don't get mad or frustrated at you if you don't know what's going on. Meanwhile I go to work at my job and don't get trained correctly then when something goes wrong the guy I was being trained by lies and says he showed me properly (he was too lazy to teach me) and I get yelled at and belittled by my boss with no clue what even went wrong. Idk. I know Gen Z is moronic and whatnot but I feel like making mistakes is punished a bit too harshly and unfairly sometimes and maybe that contributes.

Zoomers are post-literate with zero pre-internet pre-digital frame of reference and it shows studies confirm by reading rate/content by generation They may as well be neurotic house cats, and that's despite being raised by latchkey kid laissez-faire Gen X-ers who hate Boomers.
