Pay attention to the shit I was saying. It's a part of the subtext that goes completely without saying. The same goes for the various torture scenes in the show. The games never waste time telling us explicitly about "these are bad guys because they torture people" with graphic depictions of the act. They put the effects in the background, and let you piece it together for yourself. Likewise, the inherent subtext association of vampires with rape goes without saying. It has no connection to any of the themes, so it would've been better to keep it as a leering implied threat. But no, graphic depictions of the literal rape of two established characters come up, and due to this lack of any thematic connection, they're also not handled with any sufficient gravity either. It ends up being ham-fisted, clumsy, and seems to occur solely for the sake of occurring.

With the exception of Isaac, they all end up the same place as the end of season 2. Alucard's rape didn't change anything. Trevor and Sypha just came back from their vacation like they are supposed to. Hector easily broke the curse by cutting off his finger. Dante only struggles at all in DMC3, and only agajnst Vergil, and in DMC5 against Urizen (technically Vergil again). Stakes are never high in the DMC series as a whole, when it happens it is an exception to the rule, the series clearly invites the player to follow Dante & Co for a cool ride, not to face struggles all the way in.

Dragon's Dogma was a Netflix licensed production, not a Netflix funded show, the difference is one is made completely out of Netflix' influence (actual anime like Baki the Grappler), the other is something Netlix has a say in it during production (Castlevania).

It has no connection to any of the themes, so it would've been better to keep it as a leering implied threat. But no, graphic depictions of the literal rape of two established characters come up, and due to this lack of any thematic connection, they're also not handled with any sufficient gravity either. It ends up being ham-fisted, clumsy, and seems to occur solely for the sake of occurring.

Trevor and Sypha just came back from their vacation like they are supposed to. Hector easily broke the curse by cutting off his finger. Dante only struggles at all in DMC3, and only agajnst Vergil, and in DMC5 against Urizen (technically Vergil again). Stakes are never high in the DMC series as a whole, when it happens it is an exception to the rule, the series clearly invites the player to follow Dante & Co for a cool ride, not to face struggles all the way in.

It's not meant to take place in the game's canon at all according to everything they said they wanted to do with it years ago.
For instance it's supposed to share the same world with Castlevania's series since they have the rights to both and could merge them if they liked. We'll have to wait and see if that's the case.
Changes I'd like to see would be Dante having kids with Trish and Lady with Nevan being a converted ally. (He totally won her over and that seemed like it could happen eventually since demons always resurrect)

the rumour in 2019 was it's a DMC3 adaptation that covers a bit of extra ground. dante looking different is probably just a redesign because the shirtless with straight hair look is less cool today.
