Great movie.
It's a shame that both workprints versions have such a low capture quality. They are in no way better than the final cut, but it has some great extended scenes.

There's nothing to be gained from remaking it because it so perfectly encapsulates the time it was made. If you "update" it to the present day then you're robbing it of its identity, and if you don't update it then there's no way you're going to be able to do early '90s better than the movie that was actually made in the early '90s. There's no winning play here.
The point is to update it for a "modern audience" and to hell with quality or success.

a guy gets carjacked and calls one of the guys "stupid ass hair" instead of "stupid butthole"

My mother had her 64th birthday a month ago. I mostly live abroad now and don't see her often, so when raising a toast to her health I remembered this movie and even though we are a family of atheists and agnostics I said "Mother is the name for God in the lips and hearts of children. So let's drink to my mom, because she's the best". She did appreciate it a lot.
I know atheists who use the word "God" all the time. Jesus wouldn't sweat the small stuff - there are "atheists" who behave more Christ-like than some who call themselves "Christians".
I'm an atheist use the word God all the time, maybe because I'm ESL and in my native language (Russian) the word "God" is used more casually than in English. Even though I'm an atheist I still see value in Christianity in a historical and cultural context, you can't deny that it left a huge legacy.

I liked that Top Dollar could actually fight back. The best revenge stories have villains who can meet the heroes' challenge, like The Crow or Licence to Kill.
