I'm kinda scared for this movie. Like, I want it to do good because Po is fun, but at the same time, there are a lot of bad elements surrounding the movies release.
Pretty much this. In the one leaked trailer, we see Po in one of the cages too, so I'm guessing Po gets his kung-fu stolen and he and Tai Lung have to team up to escape and get their powers back.
God, I fricking hate power-stealing. It's such a cheap way to raise the stakes. Not to mention, who wants to see a kung-fu movie where the leads spend half the film without their kung-fu?
Actually he just banished his living body to the spirit realm where he was kidnapped by Kai then set free when Po exploded Kai’s immortal soul, at which point his power level was stolen by the Chameleon
It's definitely giving bad omens about its box office performance, though it was estimated to earn 30 million in opening week, which isn't bad.
That said, maybe a blessing in disguise to not spoil the movie in trailers. Orion and the Dark did something similar and saved its surprises for the movie.
every other Kung Fu Panda got more than 1 trailer. So far KFP4 has 1 major trailer and short TV spots that keep using the same footage over and over again.

They sort of stopped putting the number in the names of their sequels since kfp3 didn’t print money, almost as if they blamed some of its failure on the number scaring people off who hadn’t seen the previous movies.
Interesting how 4 seems to be the nostalgia one.
Shrek 4 was all about a wonderful lifing shrek 1, and here we have bringing back the first two villains via copy powers.
I wonder what other fourth movies would be like.
Would they return to the island of Madagascar if they made a Madagascar 4?

I think the director of Shrek 4 is the same guy who is directing this (Mike Mitchell).
Additionally, the first movie was 15 years ago, so maybe they felt like it was time for a revisit.
