i cant take vince vaughn seriously. every time he was on screen i expected him to break out into some moronicly unfunny crass comedy bit.
Reddit opinion. Vince did incredible dramatic work here and his frame is nothing to laugh at. Guy's a fricking unit. It fits with him as an infamous mobster. I think he was leagues above McAdams or Kitsch. Him and Farrell were on fire in Season 2. Great work.
>rating 3 over 2
No. Just no.
>Vince did incredible dramatic work here
kek great bait I have to say
If this isn't good acting go ahead and teach us by posting an example. His body language and micro expressions especially are very good

TD S2 and Cell Block 99 show me he's easily one of the few actually excellent actors left, along with Mel and some others i can't think of right now. He's great with a really enthralling screen presence and he looks like this co-worker I hanged out with and liked before he left. Seems like his head is in the right place. I like Vince.
he did
you're a midwitted sack of homosexual shit moron
Yeah, he was horribly cast. So many scenes with him were just laughable, like that stupid desert death walk. Man. What a steaming turd of a season.
What exactly about him was horribly cast? I've never seen any of his movies but I thought he was great.
literally one of the best bits, kys
That other anon is right, most people agreed Vince carried and he can truly act.I aspire to become like these two men when I become old
If i was an arab sheikh, I would give them carte blanche to make any fricking movie these two wanted. Holy frick they're kino incarnate in human form.
pizzaman and mel should team up to write a screenplay starring vince
Too much kino for this world. Maybe after The Resurrection of Christ.
I hope they make another TD season with Mel and Vince chasing some diabolical serial killer or a gang. It would be so fricking kino.
>Passion 2
God, I can't wait for it. I've seen that they're going to start shooting it in 2024. It could be the next Top Gun: Maverick but 1000x better and more based. I trust Mel. He knows that the hundreds of millions of religious people will crave for some based filmmaking and positive affirmation of the faith. I hope they hold nothing back and show everything.
>I hope they hold nothing back and show everything.
According to Mel, the movie will show the fall of angels and satan, and Christ's descent into hell after the crucifixion prior to His resurrection.
I expect the kino to end all kinos.
Oh my fricking Lord,do you have a source, anon?
Here
https://www.imdb.com/title/tt5795232/trivia/
>SOURCE?!!!?!
Self-own. Based Gantz mention though. I loved it. Ballsy as frick. Maybe Sophia and I can star and kill monsters and kiss...heh
They never did this series justice but am cool, it's much better as a manga.Am praying some Netflix worker isn't ITT
>They never did this series justice but am cool, it's much better as a manga
Anon pls.
It doesn't even do itself justice as the art goes steering off the road like a drunk every chapter or two.
Still a nice setup tho and it had some good character stories. Always struck me as a shame it wasn't a collab between artists & writers.
>Christ's descent into hell
The frick? Does that happen in the Bible?
Like most Catholic bullshit it's pure fanfic based on weird readings of the NT.
Most prots believe in the harrowing of hell dumbass. Except for your pastor Jim Bob I guess
It's Catholic fanfic that lives on because Christians think it's a powerful image. It is not only that the textual basis for the story is virtually non-existent, but it is also important to remember that these texts were written by culturally israeli writers that of course lacked the Indo-European concept of an underworld.
>sheol doesnt exist
also israelites were helenized since Alexander the great. You cant be this moronic.
Here.
Harrowing of Hell. — This is the Old English and Middle English term for the triumphant descent of Christ into hell (or Hades) between the time of His Crucifixion and His Resurrection, when, according to Christian belief, He brought salvation to the souls held captive there since the beginning of the world. According to the “New English Dictionary” the word Harrowing in the above connection first occurs in Aelfrie’s homilies, about A.D. 1000; but, long before this, the descent into hell had been related in the Old English poems connected with the name of Caedmon and Cynewulf. Writers of Old English prose homilies and lives of saints continually employ the subject, but it is in medieval English literature that it is most fully found, both in prose and verse, and particularly in the drama. Art and literature all through Europe had from early times embodied in many forms the Descent into Hell, and specimens of plays upon this theme in various European literatures still exist, but it is in Middle English dramatic literature that we find the fullest and most dramatic development of the subject. The earliest specimen extant of the English religious drama is upon the Harrowing of Hell, and the four great cycles of English mystery plays each devote to it a separate scene. It is found also in the ancient Cornish plays. These medieval versions of the story, while ultimately based upon the New Testament and the Fathers, have yet, in their details, been found to proceed from the apocryphal Gospel of Nicodemus, the literary form of a part of which is said to date back to the second or third century. In its Latin form this “gospel” was known in England from a very early time; Bede and other Old English writers are said to show intimate acquaintance with it. English translations were made of it in the Middle Ages, and in the long Middle English poem known as “Cursor Mundi” a paraphrase of it is found.
This is one of the most informative True Detective threads, this series truly brings the best minds together
TD s2 threads are always really comfy and informative. Shows the underlying power of Frankposting.
I'm aware and it still is more emotionally resonating and interesting to watch than most slop as
said. I'd love if Pizzaman could ever talk about what his OG plans were.
Yeah it's in the Pauline Epistles so it doesn't get as much attention in pop culture compared to the Gospel narratives, but it (the Harrowing of Hell) was a huge part of Christian iconography and theology
>but it (the Harrowing of Hell) was a huge part of Christian iconography and theology
Indeed. it is also part of The Apostles' Creed
>He descended into Hell; the third day He rose again from the dead;
What’s pizza man doing now?
>Nic Pizzolatto, the creator of the critically acclaimed HBO anthology drama series “True Detective”, is currently working on several projects. He is writing and executive producing a series version of “The Magnificent Seven” for Amazon Studios 1. He is also writing the script for Marvel Studios’ “Blade” movie, which stars Mahershala Ali 2. Additionally, he has signed a deal with Fox 21 and FX Productions to create and develop new projects for their various platforms

he fricking crushed it
you sheltered homosexual
1>3>2
It's much better the second time. The first time there's so much shit going around that you can't tell how everything is connected.I am also not very bright but still it's a really good watch and the acting is top
She was a pretty unbearable girlboss but man was she hot. McAdams never looked this good before or since.
Wasn't the point that she was actually useless as frick? For me it's Kelly Reilly, she was smoking hot as a ginger
Should have added black
For a second, I thought she said "big black dicks" lol
For the love of God, meds.
It's kino, but of course unironic S1 likers aren't going to enjoy a show dedicated to shitting on it.
i agree but you must elaborate
The whole thing is an anti-conspiracy where it's really just a mix of bog-standard capitalism and isolated incidents occurring simultaneously, there is no occult sex trafficking conspiracy and all the girls are just there to make a buck, the murder of Caspare doesn't really have anything to do with what's going on in Vinci, whether in the "legitimate" world or the underworld, the weird hippie commune Rachel McAdams grew up in is just a bunch of bumbling old acidheads that don't look after their kids well enough.
Furthermore, every main character is some aspect of the "cool" character Rust Cohle, except those traits are exaggerated to a comedic degree and they're all also portrayed as terminally uncool incompetent losers that are too strange and inauthentic, even for the self-consciously artificial world of Vinci.
There was loads of esoteric stuff in season 2,The moon was a big part of it.
All self-conscious parody, just like the oblique references to Tibetan Buddhism it is thrown in to poke fun at the obsessive fans of S1. The Twin Peaks pastiche do serve a structural purpose though, in highlighting the gangster movie artificiality of the universe of Vinci.
For me s2 had the feeling there was always more to find out with it's symbols like s1 had with it's owl symbol. Did they ever get to the bottom of the military ops the gay guy was involved in. True detective said it self nothing is ever solved. On a different note I liked s2 having a vibe like Chinatown
>this is my least favorite life...
Every single Frank/Ray bar scene is such kino.
>you’re supposed to savor that
>let me try again.
>I could have been different.
>Of all the lies people tell themselves, I bet that's the most common.
Every single one was premium kino. If it had been them and them alone, this season would be viewed next to S1 by everyone undeniably. The dynamic of good-hearted mobster and crooked detective is gold. I liked that in the end they were truly friends and Frank cared for Ray. Their back and forth in this is some of the finest acting i've ever seen.
Wrong scene, forgive me, I meant to post another excerpt.
I miss vinceposting
it's very hard to well ,somebody do it
Dude you need to go on holiday or some shit, even just get drunk as frick and stop posting for a few days.
S1
>mystery hints at a much larger conspiracy
S2
>characters delve into a massive conspiracy
S3
>LMAO CONSPIRACIES ARE FOR RACIST PIZZAGATE QANON DRUMPFTARDS THERES A PERFECTLY REASONABLE EXPLANATION FOR EVERYTHING SWEATY!!!
the show will never return to its glory days so S2 automatically gets bumped up a few notches
S3 was utter fricking garbage. S4 will double down. Frick anyone who likes S3. I mean it.
Filtered to oblivion. You have no media literacy.
Her booba and her babe demeanour made me diamonds. Great waifu.
also Black person cop keeps threatening people that they will get raped by Black folk in prison 10/10.But seriously I liked Stephen Dorff and especially that dog scene.Good thing I can watch all the best scenes on YouTube
The season would have been kino if Stephen Dorff's character had been the mc
i just watched it for the first time and my only thought after finishing it was how could they waste such a great cast on that
No one got filtered harder than Nicky Pizza himself. By the end of the season he had no idea what kind of story he was writing. Good thing this and Season 3 exposed him as a hack who stole everything from Thomas Ligotti (and the movie Kill List) in order to make season 1
Season 2, even as an improvised mess, is stil miles better than most TV before and after. Pizzaman was too good even when he slipped.
Who the frick is Caspere and what did he know?
Don't worry about it
S1 had that succubus looking b***h that showed her breasts and still the best season
>True Detective s2 is the ultimate midwit filter
This is true in that only midwits ardently defend it
t. filtered midwit
horseshoe theory is just dimwit cope tho
S2 originally had a much stronger emphasis on the connection between human trafficking, politics, and Hollywood but the execs at HBO ordered Pizza to rewrite it because it was hitting too close to home and then Fukunaga left the project. The incoherent mess you got at the end was an unfinished, neutered product and should not be be celebrated for that reason alone. Lots of potential. Wasted.
>Lots of potential. Wasted.
still better than 99.9% of try hard homosexual slop
That ep where they sneak into the party is marvel tier shit. S2 is like 5/10 at best
S2 was good enough but not as high point as S1
S3 filtered me.
On other anthologies:
Fargo, It was S4 that got me. S1 > 3 were perfect.
It's just bad, anon. We all enjoy trash TV every now and then, you don't have to fool yourself into thinking it's actually good.
>that reddit passive aggresiveness
No. It's legit good. It has great and memorable moments, great soundtrack and musical cues, a really nice and fast pace, the atmosphere was good and the characters were far too interesting for how little they got. Yeah the overall plot could have been a lot more hard-hitting than just rich guys running million dollar scams but then again I disagree with that alltogether. It's far more palpable and interesting than le creepy cult and symbolism. I liked it for that reason alone. Plus, the plot felt like more of a backdrop for the character moments and developments which were very well done like Ray and Ani falling in love and Frank's relationship with Jordan.
