The aliens don't know what a lie is because they can read each others thoughts since their brainwaves are visually visible due to them being transparent. When they are unable to do the same to humans it freaks them out because humans can easily trick them, which is one of the reasons why they want to wipe out humanity so much because it is super dangerous to them. It is a pretty major plot point in the second book

It makes little sense to me that the aliens are able to remotely screw with particle accelerators or print numbers into people's vision yet seem limited in other ways. If their plan is to conquer Earth and they have a granular enough level of control to screw with subatomic reactions light years away, they can't do something simple like kill all humans instantly with an engineered virus or something like that.

The idea of civilizational stagnation and rapid progress is a major theme in the books. ie alot of progress can happen in a short amount of time if a civilization is put under the right conditions, so you can never sleep on an enemy that you have a tech lead on. The idea is that if left alone humanity could have a sudden major tech progress explosion that is enough to destroy the expeditionary fleet in 400 years since the fleets tech won't progress.
The author is also probably trying to convey the idea that too much censorship and authoritarianism can stagnate a society as a metaphor for maoist china, and that opening things up is a good thing.

The eye in the sky is not a sophon. I mean, it is in the show, I suppose. In the books the eye is an advanced species Trisolarians unfolded by accident from within a photon into their upper 3rd dimension, which they had to kill. They kept it in the show and I guess it is an unfolded sophon in the show, but that's not for sure.

The Trisolarians did not have an easy time making the sophons, and once out of fricking nowhere after unfolding a photon they were attacked by some weird ass evangelian angel type monster that looked kind of like an eye. They blew it up pretty quickly, and just tried to not think about wtf had just happened. I don't think it was ever brought up again.
I think it was supposed to be a hint at the higher dimension beings from the third book who lived in the four dimensional space bubble because they couldn't survive in the three dimensional universe.

If I remember correctly the bubble was gradually collapsing into 3D just like our solar system collapsed into 2D, and the 4D beings inside would be killed when it did so, hence the 4D space being a grave but it's been a few years since I read.
Yeah, they met a grave floating in 4D space which had an AI they could talk to, but that was because I assume their society was flattened from 5D space and to them 4D space is like 2D is to us, which is why their grave is floating within 4D space. I started reading all 3 books when the year started, so some of it is fairly fresh in my memory.
The implication is the 4d area was just a remnant of the 4d universe that was traveling about via some force. They imply the collapsing of dimensions imparts a force on everything akin to what we know as dark energy. I like how the author couldn't even explain his 4d bubble universe shit so they just say "its too hard to explain" and then they give the 4d thing a fish and leave.
