You should consider yourself lucky, because I've heard the sequels weren't as good as the first.
You can kinda say that about many sequels, but I've heard some good things about them, that they're at the very least "good", which is more than can be said for sequels like KFP4 or Shrek 3.

He said in a previous thread that his parents took him to see it when he was young and that during the film his mother and father left for the bathroom. In reality they actually ditched him at the movie theater and left the country (this happened in the Phillipines). He was left to be raised by his alcoholic Aunt and her abusive boyfriend. He claims this event had nothing to do with his hatred of shrek 2 however.
That's genuinely saddening, and I hope this person ends up getting their mental health sorted out.
