A great example of how being a good movie is the best marketing
Burger Shekelstein of Globohomosexual Entertainment Inc. will never learn.
It hasn't even broken $100 million yet
It was only ever planned for a small global distribution, with barely 1,000 theatres in the US slated to screen it at first, but has now been extended to around 2,500 due to unexpected success. It's the same story here in Britbongistan, was originally only going to be shown at 296 venues, but then just last week that was announced to be going up to 469
Even with the extensions, those are still pretty small numbers (Napoleon, for example, had 3,500 theatres, and even the Beyonce movie had a release of 2,539 theatres), but it's still clearly exceeding any expectations
But the marvels flopped?
Correct
Also being one of the most popular franchises in pop culture helps
>every woke trash american blockbuster keeps flopping one after the other
>japs decide its a good time to release the very first ACTUALLY GOOD Godzilla movie
Perfect timing.
People say this with every Goji release, they said it with Shin.
Just admit the majority of the franchise is KINO please, the Heisei series is still peak.
Here, follow the funny flowchart and you'll find more that you like
Do you have this in not for large ants?
Here, that flowcharti s bullshit, use this one and start with the OG
https://imgur.com/a/WOfA1y2
It's missing the most recent ones
>starting with 2000 and not 1954
Complete shit right off the bat lol
You don't start a noob, especially a younggay off with 1954. Zoomers brains turn off if there's no color. 2000 is like the best normie Godzilla movie ever made. It's also one of my favorite Godzilla movies bad VFX and all.
As a Godzilla fan I can’t even follow this flow chart why doesn’t it start with the 54 movie? Why no timeline? this is a visual disaster
Literally where do you start though
The start point is on the middle left but this thing is horrible anyway
godzilla 1984
>start with Godzilla 2000
Ummmmmmmmmm…
I’m thinking BASED
G2K is a based movie but the only real way to watch this series is in release order.
>the only real way to watch this series is in release order.
Maybe for someone who is a certified kino autist but just hasn't dipped into Godzilla yet. For jow blow normie and especially some moronic zoomer I wouldn't recommend this path. Even if they get through 1954 Raids is gonna filter the frick out of them.
G2K
GMK
Kiryu Saga
vs. Biollante
Mechagodzilla II
vs. Destoroyah
and then try out some showa if you want. Final Wars should not be watched until you have some Showa under your belt imo.
>G2K
>GMK
>Kiryu Saga
>vs. Biollante
>Mechagodzilla II
>vs. Destoroyah
There's no point in skipping around like this when the series already has several reboots as starting points.
Skipping most of the Heisei continuity but still watching Godzilla vs Destoroyah is moronic. You won't get anything out of Godzilla's death if you didn't watch the other movies in the series. Just start with 1984 and watch all of them.
Feel free to make you own list gay. I'm just telling you how I would introduce a newbie and I sure as frick wouldn't let them watch vs. King Ghidorah or vs. Space Godzilla in their first 10 films.
How about a spoiler alert you stupid fricking homosexual
>spoilering a 28 year old movie that had "Godzilla dies" as the official tagline
You have to be 18 years old to post here.
>woke
>enjoying an anti war anti government foreign film
Frick rightoids are moronic
I'm a libertarian. Nothing wrong in enjoying foreign movies or anti-war movies. Now dilate, troony.
I’m keeping the wiener it gets me more OF subs
damn, what does that make you guys then? mega moronic?
It’s very much a pro-war movie, not a lot of saying they should let Godzilla run rampant in that. 100 percent behind fighting the invader who destroyed their cities. Instead it’s a pro support the troops movie. Fighting needs to be done and it needs to be done by brave everyday folks like you, but they also should be doing so planning to lose as little lives as possible, because the common soldiers life is still valuable and they deserve to come home. It’s up to normal folks to do that because the government doesn’t care about them and needs to stay out of their way.
And when they come home they deserve to be a family, don’t let your would be wife go off to work or a giant nuke dinosaur will explode her or something I dunno
>It’s very much a pro-war movie
Stopped reading here
Well you showed me, now I’m convinced the movie who’s central focus is showing why Japan deserves a military and should fight for itself is anti fighting
Or you didn’t like the whole support the troops thing or whatever you do you, don’t get nuked like a woman going to work however that metaphor shook down
I think you're looking at it backwards, and then admit as much, in a way
But art is up to interpretation and the ideology of Godzilla could have been lost along the way. I mean he still uses ATOMIC breath.
That said, it's a much more defensive film. Godzilla is coming to them, destroying their cities. They clearly don't want that. They defend themselves and retaliate, but they're not going to war, war is coming to them.
You follow up with
>because the common soldiers life is still valuable and they deserve to come home.
But it's always been the common person's life is valuable and they don't deserve to be sent to battle over these things. Godzilla should have never been created (in universe) because he's, you know, the atomic bomb.
>It’s very much a pro-war movie
holy shit, you morons will say anything
>It’s very much a pro-war movie
Its really not anon....
>Woketard is still confusing story with themes and story as political statement.
Also your made up identity politics nobody likes will always be crass and rejected by anyone normal, unlike "war bad" and "man=/=woman"
Just stop being woke already
woke to me is just the inclusion of gays, blacks, etc for the sake of le hecking diversity
it also includes lecturing the audience
neither of these things were part of the newest gojira, which is incredibly refreshing. i saw the boy and the heron and then godzilla, and neither had any of that junk. what a nice change it was to go to a theater and not have that nonsense shoved into my face at every turn
Thing is the movie never actually condemns japan having been at war, just the matter in which they waged it.
There are no black genderqueer disabled lesbians with vitiligo so it's not woke
I can't wait for apple to admit that their Monarch series is woke Cancer Aids Pus Putrid Puke that not enough people watched!
They'll never admit it.
>woke
>being anti-war and anti-government
Woketards are the most frothing war hawks in existence. They're only anti-government when a republican is in charge.
Being pro government is left wing (collectivist), being right wing is supporting the right of individuals to shoot the psychopaths who want men to be governed. Nationalism is about putting your own people first, not rejecting foreign cinema.
>>japs decide its a good time to release the very first ACTUALLY GOOD Godzilla movie
you never watched Gojira 1954 right?
I did. It drags a bit and the second half is painfully predictable. Minus One is also predictable but at least the human characters have better drama and overall it has better pacing. The OG has good atmosphere and I enjoyed all the Godzilla scenes.
>very first
Godzilla '54
Mothra vs. Godzilla/Ghidrah the Three-Headed Monster, Monster Zero
Godzilla vs. Biollante
GMK
Shin Godzilla
You missed invasion of the astro-monster
Monster Zero is Invasion of Astro Monster.
Most Godzilla movies are good though. I would say 2/3 of them are good if you also count the anime trilogy and some of the American movies on the "bad" side.
>We want the white male audience
>Got zilla'd at the end of the movie
It was radiation poisoning
Seriously where the frick did this moronic theory even come from
>Radiation poisoning
The shit is literally pulsing and moving under her skin Anon, that's not a burn.
>What is a cutaneous radiation injury
>In an issue of Mono Magazine, Yamazaki implied that a sequel to the film may explore the curse Godzilla left behind on Japan, similar to the one left behind by the Tatari-gami in Hayao Miyazaki's Princess Mononoke (1997).[164] Additionally, Minami Hamabe indicated in the same publication that the film may be the start of an entirely new series of Godzilla films, noting "If there is a next series, I might be the one stepping on and crushing people".[165]

*unzips dick*
>Seriously where the frick did this moronic theory even come from
the news report that says that shards of the monster have been recovered at the site of the blast and the government urging people to evacuate the area due to their volatile nature. A shard of godzilla is inside of her because of the implosion sucking her back towards godzilla.
Marvel tier bullshitIT WAS RADIATION POISONING
kirei
Sughoi
From KINO to KINO. She is good.
>>Born 2000
Man..... I'm feeling old.
Hold up, she is almost my age?
4 years older than me. What a hag.
Well, they've got me.
For me it was the hag next door neighbor
Only other Sakura Ando movie I've watched is Shoplifters, and she was sexy as hell in that, incredible woman
goddamn i love her weird ass face
Its weird that Koichi didn't rape that nagging hag as soon as he returned. It was his duty to help repopulate Nihon. Hasn't he avoided enough of his obligations during the war?
okay i will watch your movie now
should i watch shin first
This movie was fantastic. Even people that don't necessarily like Godzilla will enjoy it just because it tells a compelling story with fleshed out characters. I don't care if I sound like a shill but anyone that wants a genuinely engaging movie to watch should see Minus One.
Shin was great and has no bearing on Minus One. You should watch both and can do so in either order.
>This movie was fantastic. Even people that don't necessarily like Godzilla will enjoy it just because it tells a compelling story with fleshed out characters. I don't care if I sound like a shill but anyone that wants a genuinely engaging movie to watch should see Minus One.
It was one of the most cliche and by the numbers movies ive ever seen. Literally no different than a typical American blockbuster in terms of writing and acting. The reception here for this movie is literally just the "thing" "thing JAPAN" meme.
>It was one of the most cliche and by the numbers movies ive ever seen.
True
>Literally no different than a typical American blockbuster in terms of writing and acting.
lolno, not even close. It was a very "Japanesey" movie. No American movie would imply that the kamikaze pilots weren't mindless fanatics. They also would have made the female MC a single mom to a mixed-race baby rather than a pure waifu who adopted an orphan. A Hollywood movie also wouldn't have treated the subject matter of Godzilla seriously in this day and age. It would've been some marvelslop imitation rather than being played straight.
It is like an American blockbuster though, I half agree with that anon. They would do all those things you said now, but before y2k we were capable of making movies like this. That's why I like the film even though it ws just a blockbuster type movie. To a dumb American zoomer such as myself it felt like a return to form.
Literally zero diversity and no LGBTQ representation. Not watching it.
I mean, it's fine. the script was REALLY predictable and cliched at points (especially at the end) and some of the acting was really bad. and it suffers from that japanese thing of "let's just have our characters announce how they feel about everything out loud. god forbid there's any room for interpretation" it's like a 6/10 but people are pretending it's a 10/10 because everything else out right now is so shit.
All true and legitimate criticisms, but you're low balling it. Minus One is objectively a 9/10
what objective criteria are you using to rate it
This. Except more like a 4/10 for me since there was hardly any Godzilla screen time. The music was kino though.
never liked godzilla movies: should i watch this and then the tv serie monarch legacy of monsters?
the acting and plot was really fricking bad how am i the only one who thinks this
goji was cool tho
Thought it was dogshit, one of the worst movies of the year.
t. shingay
im a shingay as well, idk the plot just felt like it wasnt very smart, like it happened because it needed to, and the acting felt poor
shins film making felt very smart, and the arrival of godzilla was 100x more interesting then him appearing out of the blue and someone already knowing about him
>shins film making felt very smart
kek is this satire? I honestly can't tell at this point.
>shins film making felt very smart
Anno spent way too much time on infodumps. Minus One had two infodumps that I felt were egregious and broke the rule of show don't tell, but Shin was basically built around infodumps.
infodumps in shin make more sense as its based around the governments response and the info they've gathered while trying to defeat godzilla
minus one's info dumps are literally "I HAVE PTSD BECAUSE GODZILLA KILLED MY ARMY BROS" and his waifu just didnt question it lol
Shin takes itself very seriously but its just the same 2 or 3 ideas hammered down to the audience the entire movie, and not in a clever, entertaining way. When Anno wants to criticize the excessive bureaucracy of the japanese government he just...spends an hour showing bureaucratic, boring, pointless meetings instead of using cinematic language, a good script and clever editing techniques to achieve the same goal in a better way. But the movie certainly FEELS like it has a lot to say, its the perfect pleb catcher for pseuds.
>pseud post calling others pseud's
pottery
Great argument there.
The scene with the meeting about if Godzilla is real or not really sticks out to me as just bad film making. It's upsetting because Anno clearly knows how to direct a scene which can convey the atmosphere without spending five minutes to establish it as the third act shows.
Its hard to believe that Anno wrote and directed Shin...the same guy who did Evangelion. From very tridimensional characters to the cardboard boxes of Shin. And Anno says he doesn't want to be remembered as ''the guy who did Evangelion'', well good fricking luck when everything else he makes is so incredibly soulless.
He’s a gay
read the thread, gay
So are they planning a sequel for this one
It's the launch of Toho's new Godzilla and friends cinematic universe.
If it's so great how come there isn't a torrent yet?
God please give me a fricking torrent I don't want to go to the theater alone as I have no friends and my girlfriend is a pleb
There’s nothing to be ashamed of going to the cinema by yourself anon
I went with my mom, pops and little sister, and I'm 30. We all had a great time.
same, was just gonna take my dad but my mom had heard from coworkers that it was good so she tagged along. great time had by all. was quite nostalgic to take my parents after they had been the ones buying me the 60s and 70s godzilla VHS tapes in the 90s.
This is the type of film that you won't get shamed for watching solo. Don't miss out on a kino Godzilla theater experience because you care what others think. No one gives a shit and if they do...that speaks more on them.
Limited release, not opted for streaming services (in the works now). There's a torrent of a cam, which I would watch even with subtitles, if it wasn't for obnoxious watermarks and casino ads on the screen for 100% of the runtime.
>He needs someone to go to 'places'
It's over for you. When you discover that going to places and doing things alone (eating at decent restaurants, cinema, museums, gigs) is the best thing, all changes for better.
First movie I've seen in ages where it should be watched in cinema, preferebly IMAX or the big Dolby sound system ones.
there's a very watchable HDTS with english subs out
Anon, go alone if you have to. It HAS to be experience on a theatre.
There's a good quality HD cam that's subbed that is on streams. It's not the xbit casino water mark bullshit one either.
Just go to the cinema. It's not even out in theaters here and I really want to see it.
I would have gone alone if I had to. this was my first godzilla movie and the first time I was glad I didn't wait for a torrent to watch on my dinky screen with dinky speakers. anything less than theater sound won't do it justice.
I will say, Godzilla's roar hurt my ears a couple times, particularly the post-credits roar.
Where can I watch it
why mads mikkelsen in this movie?
Wut
What would be your perfect Godzilla film?
1954 Original
Minus One but it ends right after Koichi gets back to land and hugs his kid
I've got a shill down my spine in the cinema at the scene of Noriko pushing Koichi and getting swept by debris. Then the ending destroyed the impact of that scene with actually she's fine lmao
I was in tears when they went to the hospital
same.
but we didn't get to see the reunion between akiko and her mother, she was just dumped on the floor offscreen never to be seen again
the ending was cheap in multiple ways. tricking the audience by not showing them the ejection seat. but it was the last 10 minutes of the movie and everything until then was good so all is forgiven
It was obvious there was an ejection seat, the tension was whether or not the mechanic had fricked with it.
even if that were true, it's not good to move the angst that the main character has been struggling with the whole film to a supporting one that we have only had 5 minutes of screentime with. What would have been lost if we saw the scene in order? Everyone would rather see the struggle over whether he would eject or not at the last minute, instead of what a side character did
To me it was less about if the mechanic messed with the ejection seat and more about if Koichi resolved to kill himself. The mechanic telling him about it and telling him to live was a twist, but it was obvious to anyone with eyes that the Japs wouldn't be importing German seats if they were just normal seats and it was ultimately still Koichi's decision. He had agency and he made the decision himself.
Godzilla vs red moon and the movie is 2/3s the graphic pornographic sex scene between erabus and red moon.
The original. It is somber like a dirge. It's perfect.
Babbies first kdrama
I've said this before: (spoilers) The woman surviving in the end wasn't a cheap move because it was thematically relevant, just because most movies do this for no reason doesn't mean it's always bad
No, it was not thematically relevant.
The whole ''don't throw your life away for nothing'' was aimed at Koichi beucase...he was a kamikaze pilot who disobeyed orders to die for nothing when there wasn't even hope of Japan winning the war anymore. Noriko would have sacrificed herself for a noble purpose, to save the man she loved (and was indebted to), its not even remotely the same. Koichi not kamizaking into Godzilla's mouth when he has the option to eject at the last second was thematically relevant.
Avenging Noriko's death was one of the main reasons he decided to do a kamikaze attack on Godzilla, showing that she hadn't died illustrated how wrong he was for thinking that way.
What? He only discovered she was still alive AFTER his decision to eject and live. It has absolutely no weight on his character arc and felt like a hamfisted attempt at a happy ending and/or cliffhanger for the sequel with her neck thing.
It has weight be cause it was at that moment he could realise how wrong he was and how he just avoided making a huge mistake. And the message wasn't just for him, it was the Doctor who had that whole speech about valuing life, it's was the general theme of the movie.
The message wasn't ''self-sacrifice for the people you love is bad'', it was ''sacrificing yourself for nothing is bad''. Koichi already had a very strong reason to keep living, the little girl. He also got closure with all his war trauma and social shame (with all the ex-soldiers saluting him). Noriko played no part in any of that and her being alive only cheapens the entire movie.
The ending is tragic because she is clearly dying from radiation and Godzilla will regenerate
I know, but we could have had a definitive ending, where Godzilla is defeated for good, Noriko stays dead and there is no zilla-aids contamination. The movie would be air tight, close to perfection. The new movies could focus on different ideas and Minus One would stand on its own as one of the best Godzilla movies.
Was it not that she had inherited the trauma and pain that Godzilla stands for in the film?
That's moronic
Noriko was important because it showed that surviving is still going to suck. We are going to be all fricked up and mutated but we have to keep on going. Surviving isn’t a reward, it’s an opportunity to continue our suffering.
>(with all the ex-soldiers saluting him).
they were saluting godzilla, because he's famous to audiences. it was dumb
No, it was more like respect for the enemy. I still thought it was a little forced.
It's a history nerd thing, there's an apocryphal story about the crew of IJN Yukikaze coming on deck to salute the USS Johnston as it sank during the Battle of Leyte Gulf (the old IJN captain who oversees the plan introduces himself at the meeting as the former captain of the Yukikaze)
Holy shit you are actually moronic anon.
>he thinks that ending was about some artsy fartsy symbolism instead of a cliffhanger bait for the sequel
First time watching a Gojira movie, anon?
So how's the campaign to get Godzilla Minus One a few Academy Award nominations going? Can we graffiti "For Your Consideration" ads across Hollywood?
I'm going to see this today. Hope you homosexuals aren't wrong again
Godshilla
OP here, I attached the wrong image sorry gentlemen
I'm trans btw
stop consooming nip slop
no, the alternative is worse
My JAV dvd collection says no.
Baka!
Let's sink this thread to the bottom of the ocean on page 10.
We will kill Godzilla Thread with the power of Bump Limit!
i just watched the trailer, seems like an extremely generic disaster movie. what makes it good all weebery apart?
It probably isn't anything you've never seen before. It's just done good.
Likeable characters, clear themes, interesting social commentary, well-done action scenes. I would even call it an almost "classical" movie, in the sense that it has a clear vision from a talented filmmaker in a way that big budget action films have lacked for a long time.
Idk man. I thought the trailer was really well done, all things considered. What are some comparable disaster trailers or good trailers done this year?
The post-WW2 setting helps set it apart. "What if post-war trauma, and then on top of that a rampaging giant lizard monster who shoots lasers?"
I didn't like the whole cast, but the characters are memorable, has little fluff, it's paced well, and lots of shifting scenarios to keep you engaged.
>protecting your own people against an outside threat is a good thing
Oy vey! Shut this down fast
Adults and kids were crying and screaming during this whole movie. The musical score carried alot of it. Jaws came to mind the most with lots of Hitchwiener.
Both Shin and -1 are awesome Godzilla movies.
At least the latest Toho films confirm, Godzilla should be a villain and he's always at his best when he's an evil motherfricker.
Showa/Monsterverse fans btfo'd again.
There is no "should" with Godzilla, tourist.
Does anyone think this film will inspire anyone in Hollywood to do a "epic" small budget movie like this?
They used to be pretty common in the 80s, so it's not like Hollywood doesn't know how to do this.
The best hope is to panic them. If shit movies cost 200 million dollars and a Japanese crew can do it for 15 million there is a problem.
I keep seeing people say the 15 million figure is just because the Japanese film industry underpays VFX artists; while I'm sure it does, even with better pay I can't imagine it would take the budget up by more than a couple million.
All VFX artists are underpaid. I can't understand how G-1 cost so little though. Ignore all the VFX scenes and what you have is a period costume drama with scenes shot on seawater, miniatures, a big animatronic head (which is why the boat chase sequence works: the focus is on Godzilla's face a lot and not the CGI), and many extras.
Going by the consensus: the budget savings were from hiring mostly people who can't act. This option isn't available to Hollywood because they already overpay their awful actors, and don't write better material for the rest. Minus One was Dwayne Johnson tier acting in a Tom Hanks tier film, like if Rampage had been good.
Jap actors are not paid that much, Toho has a big pool for all the water scenes, and the director of the movie also led the VFX team.
>Toho has a big pool for all the water scenes
That got demolished after Millennium era.
cloverfield was that
it was an alright movie. It was no epic movie like this board likes to say. Actually some cringe acting tbh
I wouldn't say epic, but it was a near-complete journey that was engaging for its run time. I kinda get the acting, but really only felt that way about Noriko's first outburst about the job.
Does Godzilla frick shit up or is it like 2014 godzilla where he's on screen for like 5 minutes total and the rest is annoying humans?
Yes the scene where Godzilla attacks Tokyo was mind-blowing in IMAX.
He fricks shit up but not as much as Shin Godzilla. That one was way more damaging and the damage felt more real because they used miniatures instead of CG.
>not as much as Shin Godzilla
Shin slices the entire city in half, destroys everything, shoots lasers 360 from its back and the first scene where it uses atomic breath is insanely dark and destructive. That thing was on a whole other level of unstoppable destruction and was still evolving. Minus One destroys a neighborhood (Ginza) and steps around rural japan lol. Most of what he does is in the ocean.
well he does also nuke a city
>destroys empty city
vs
>NUKES a city and kills 60 thousand people, not including survivors infected with radiation
He asked who caused the most destruction, not the one with the highest death toll.
What kind of cope is that? Destruction of human life supersedes all other forms of destruction. It's honestly pretty ironic you'd argue otherwise in a Minus One thread.
He's doing it mostly in the day time.
My friend preferred Barbie to this movie. He said that Barbie had a more fleshed out inner conflict compared to Shikishima's one-note journey. While I agree Margot Robbie's performance was great, her adventure wasn't very interesting and it's throttled by people complaining. Is it over for me or him?
It's fine to like one over the other, both were good movies, but different types of stories
Barbie is about her quest, but the stuff about how the past has affected the present is about the doll, and not what the character has done
Rightly or wrongly, the people blamed Shikishima for what happened because of Godzilla. And the movie isn't called Shikishima Minus One, the most important character is the villain, whereas Barbie is the hero of her movie.
It's over for neither of you
>My friend preferred Barbie to this movie
Your "friend" (gay lover) is a moron
Nobody is talking about how this is the first time we've seen Godzillasaurus in a long time.
Damn right
More like Godzilla thicc Dub W
IMAX was crazy, saw it 3 times
I liked the use of the sneedful
Shinji, did you like Godzilla Minus One??
>Beginning of the movie, Sumiko angry that Koichi didn't kill himself
>End of the movie, Sumiko angry that Koichi tried to kill himself
It's a nice touch and growth for even a side character
Yeah, I didn't think about it at the time, but rewatching the trailer it reminded me that she hits hims both times when she sees him.
Sakura Ando is so good.
Best scene in the movie
Soundtrack was popping off so hard I lost all other senses
Top 3 Godzilla, easy
For me it was the boat scene, with the eerie air raid siren music and the characters yelling over top of eachother.
Yeah that scene had me feeling genuine horror, just knowing how fricking massive godzilla is and seeing him swim after that tiny ass boat while the crew is panicking was extreme kino.
nah that was one of the worst scenes. It felt exactly like one of them said:
>How can we make the atomic breath be uh really cool
and someone replied
>Umm make the spines jerk up or whatever to let it fire instead of just glowing
and they went with it without thinking. The best scene has to be the boat chase with the mines.
Someone already uploaded the ending to youtube
?si=Rpf4XKvW9RES6o4W
based movie. Gets to the point and ticks all the boxes.
Not enough of the cute family
their relationships is barely explored then the girl disappear from half the movie, and instead we get long scenes of japanese men standing around and devising plan to kill the godz which is about as uninteresting as it sounds
I'd like to see them do more slice of life, like as a bunch of short comics or something
But such is the power of Godzilla, interrupting peace, and causing boring conference scenes
>scene around table
>"you're so lucky to be with your wife"
>"stop teasing me, he's not my husband!"
>they all turn and state at him
Gets a laugh every time
the "I'm not your father" line in the same scene didn't get a laugh out of me
what a despicable "person"
That’s not supposed to be a laugh it’s supposed to make you feel bad
>Akiko! I already told you I'm not your father. You are fatherless. Actually you have no mother either: you're a dirty useless orphan! A stinky, stupid, pant shitting orphan and that's all you ever be!
I like the guy but I think he kind of crossed the line at this point
I think it's important to remember that he was probably like 18-19 when this happened. Average of a Kamikaze pilot was 17-20 and he was definitely supposed to be on the younger side. He basically was a teenager with a shit ton of PTSD that was grappling with the fact he was now having to raise a family in a war torn society.
Yeah it was a immature reaction, but it was also a pretty realistic one. He was trying to do the "correct" thing but didn't exactly know how; that's why his elders scolded him but weren't angry with him because they understood what he was going through to a certain extent. That was probably one of my favorite part of the movie was his relationship with the ship crew and how they basically took over has his anchor for a lot of the film.
When can I expect a high-quality torrent?
The last thing I'm watching as a camrip is a godzilla movie.
>when
probably 2-6 months when it comes to amazon
I'm about to watch it on 720P HDTS with ads. Wish me luck!
have a nice day if you dont watch it in theathers you $0¥lent filled looney tune.

Hi.

It was just expanded to an additional 1,600 theaters in the United States alone, Minus One will make 10x its budget and that's a major box office success by any standard.
>Minus One will make 10x its budget
I wish.
I saw this movie the first night it was available. I'm so glad more and more people are able to see it. It's really damn good.
>Makes Cinemaphile mutts seethe because their entire identity is being contrarian
It's a great movie by pretty much every conceivable metric.
Just saw this and Heron Boy. Why didn’t anyone tell me based Japanese kino doesn’t have any basketball Americans or Hollywood tricks? I will likely never watch western goy slop after this
Watch whisper of the heart
it was available in theater for only two days in my country. why are japs so xenophobic?
Comapre and Contrast:
The Marvels: Cost $250million
Godzilla -1 : Cost $15million
Minus 15M
I like that she survived. I’m a sap
>Toho inflates the movie's budget to $15M for tax evasion reasons
>Director spill the beans
has he been fired yet?
The movie is kino. However, I was not very impressed with the audience
>notably fat
>multiple people on their phones throughout the whole movie
>multiple people talking throughout the whole movie
>pretty sure I heard someone fall on the floor at one point
Kaiju fans - explain yourselves
im inclined to believe that kaiju attracts opposite ends of the bell curve - aka a midwit filter
i sat between an obese kid that wouldn't stop screaming and clapping anytime godzilla was on screen, and some homosexual on his phone the whole movie
still managed to love the movie but you're right. the audience was shit
>i sat between an obese kid that wouldn't stop screaming and clapping anytime godzilla was on screen
I think I know that kid.
Was it you?
I let my friend buy the tickets and the row we sat in was near exclusively designated for wheelchairs and the whole movie there were moron sounds popping off on either side of me
Kaiju is the genre of the disaffected. Once you understand giant monsters are a proxy for their mental war with society it makes sense.
please stop talking about this movie, i didnt get a chance to see it. thanks.
The boat sequence was fricking great. Using an air raid siren in the sound mix was a nice touch.
I'll admit that Noriko staying dead would have been the better ending. Her sacrificing herself to save Koichi was a beautiful act that shows how much she cares about him and that he deserves to live. Like some Anon said the movie should have ended with him hugging Akiko and accepting her as his daughter. Noriko's death would have been a statement on how important life is and that the people who love us shouldn't be taken for granted. That being said, I like the actual ending more. This movie managed to make me feel for this war torn, makeshift family. I'm happy that she lived because I think she deserved to too, and now they have a chance to become a real family.
Violently killing off the female MC halfway through would have been very out of left field for a Toho movie, let alone a Godzilla movie. I'm glad it ended the way it did, since it represented Koichi getting his life back after finding the courage to live.
The ending represents how many people survived the bombings of Hiroshima and Nagasaki, but were left disfigured by them. Noriko survived the explosion but the giant metaphor (Godzilla) has touched her. She is no longer pure. It's the perfect ending and it makes perfect sense considering what happened after the bombings with the survivors.
Just watched it, really liked it
Frick off NPC
>Frick off NPC
It's okay buddy don't cry
I love Godzilla. Why are people fighting about Shin vs Minus One when we should be laughing at King Kong instead.
Studio shills are driving the inter-Godzilla narrative to prevent focus on their garbage product. They've been at this hardcore since they dropped their shitty trailer on Minus One's stateside opening weekend.
Yeah, frick that dumb St Floyd lookalike.
>OOHHH RNOOO A GORDZILLRA!!! HE WRECKA MY HOUSE!!!!
This is what passes as kino now? Some bugs getting their house smashed?
Is it actually good? I watched shin because everyone said it was kino and it felt like a made for tv film from 15 years ago with acting that gave me second hand embarrassment.
You should probably stick with capeshit and hallmark channel movies.
Just didn’t think it was very good, the Japanese are very poor film makers these days.
Compared to who? What fricking planet are you from?
>inb4 the past
Compared to Koreans, for once
Fair enough I suppose. I haven't seen any Korean movies in the theater personally, so I can't really speak to that. I don't think the Korean movies that have made it to the theaters here were action blockbuster types either.
There are lots of lower budget films coming out of the West, Koreans have made huge strides in the last 15 years if we’re talking Asia. Japanese films just look cheap and amateurish, after the revenge film trend died out they’re output just seemed to diminish. I love film in general so it’s not a deal breaker, I didn’t hate shin but my expectations were way off from the hype. It really just felt thing Japan, comparing to something like pacific rim it looks like a fan film and the office scenes had acting that just shouldn’t be considered acceptable in my opinion.
Shin was good but Shin was also really weird. This one feels more Hollywood and the effects are legit good. It's only melodramatic, so you may or may not like that.
The weirdness was the best part of the film, but everything surrounding the novel concept just felt tacky, it had some really bold scenes that were filmed well but the majority of the film looked like a soap opera and the acting was about on apr with one as well. I’ve watched hundreds of Japanese films so I get they have overall poor acting standards but it can work, but so many of the human scenes were so fricking bland it was like having the breaks pumped on a roller coaster.
It was J-drama tier but it did work for what they were depicting. I prefer it to the level of anime sniveling the protagonist does in minus one.
Shin filters baka gaijin hard, but Minus One is more accessible to foreign audiences despite being very Japanese.
It’s not a filter though, it’s not even close to something like the machine girl. It was just pretty middle of the road.
It's much better than Shin Godzilla. I felt like a shmuck for being convinced by morons on here to watch that trash but Godzilla Minus One is actually good.
Just watched it, it's the best JAWS sequel with amazing WW2 plane and ship porn.
WITH A PURPOSEFUL GRIMACE AND A TERRIBLE SOUND
HE PULLS THE SPITTING HIGH-TENSION WIRES DOWN
On your mom.
How much extra does a singles pass cost at my local kinoplex?
i really wish they got someone else to make shin godzilla. what a horrendous fumbling, giving that moron anno the reins
>reusing entire staff of previous film
>using old awful sound effects
>using eva music
>not using music enough even then
>pisspoor criticism
>silly
such a waste
old awful sound effects
kys
it cheapens the original roar to reuse it in such a shitty movie. and because of this they kept doing it in the anime shit they made. and while IN minus one i never heard it, they keep using it in trailers.
its lost everything that made it special
Why the frick did they get a director that only made anime and animated movies for this. He clearly didn't know how to direct humans being beans. And while japanese acting is dramatic, this is too anime tier.
homie he's done two post WWII dramas, two live-action war movies, and did the live-action Space Battleship Yamato movie.
Any movies that don't involve a million special effects or constant action?
The two post-WWII dramas were the Always Sunset on Third Street movies, they're comfy dramas. But I guess they still have to involve SFX because they take place in a Tokyo that doesn't exist anymore.
you're an idiot
Go frick yourself
Oh post-WW2. I guess he just really likes over the top drama. Would've been a 10/10 with some more subtle acting. Or maybe it was B-list actors like
said.
>Or maybe it was B-list actors
Even A-listers in Japan don't command the same salaries that Hollywood B-listers make
Just came back form theaters. I loved it, but I have to say the main actor was terrible and the dialogue was also horrible sometimes. The acting in general was bad. My favorite movie of the year though.
Minus One already grossed 65 million USD, it will top Shin's 78 million now that it will be getting a normal cinema run in the US.
>barely any Godzilla scenes
>Godzilla just randomly appears with almost no buildup
>human characters constantly overact
>melodramatic tone akin to a soap opera
Most overrated movie I've seen in years
hope you enjoy godzilla and kong: civil war bro. its being made just for you
>MFW silent scene
>Music suddenly switches from the classic Godzilla theme to an ominous violin track
%3D
this track
Was just about to post how I love the music in this promo video
(picrel is the thumbnail from

Similar to Interstellar/Hans Zimmer Mountains?
?&t=105
Are they nonsense words @3:45 or is there an attempt at Latin here?
For me, it's Divine. The first atomic breath scene gave me chills.
Scene was legitimately suspenseful! Movie was awesome!
The CGI at the beginning sucked.
I think the fact that the scene was dark played a role in that.
His scream was also not as good as Shin's.
Takaosisters....
I loved the IJN ships featured
>Managed to knock Godzilla over twice and forced him to use his atomic breath
Takaobros we fricking won
How long till it’s streaming somewhere?
If the past is anything to go by at least 6 months but maybe a year.
>WW2 Japan was bad because they built planes without ejector seats
>Flies plane built in last month of war but never used as they got nuked
>Plane has ejector seat
Was the implication that Japan was good at the end of WW2 if only America hadn't nuked them?
No because they also mention kamikaze pilots as being bad (used exclusively in final stages of war.
The plane was just Japanese military nerd wank.
It wasn't designed with an ejector seat, the engineer only noticed it had been added to the frame because the seat had a big German-language label on the front
It was a German plane, indicated by the German words on the back of the seat.
It was obvious he was going to eject.
Did anyone ever figure out how much vodka Godzilla would have to drink to get buzzed? They asked last night. Also, great movie. Barbenheimer BTFO
I made that thread. After doing the math Godzilla would have to drink 25236.07 liters of 80 proof liquor or 853,333 shots to get drunk.
Pfft. Godzilla is a lightweight. That's like a normal Tuesday for me. Thanks for doing the calculations, anon. You men do the Lord's work.
For reference that's about the same amount a medium sized tanker trunk holds
A VODKA TANKER FOR YOU
More people went to see the marvels than this movie lmao
You know how stupid the average person is? Half of everyone is stupider than that. Those morons were lining up for the clot shot and wearing gay ass masks everywhere like scared little b***hes.
>Haha, this ~$280M Hollywood production managed to beat this $15M Japanese production
