>I like The Continental.
It was utter pretty much trash and only barely sqeeks out watchability due to only being 3 episodes long. It should have been a 2-hour direct-to-streaming movie but they had to pad it full of 2 extra girlpower side plots to go with Franky and his suicide bomber wife who is already half a girlpower subplot.
Also, pic related was COMPLETELY wasted on this piece of shit show. I would have watched an entire movie of just her doing splits and wrecking shit.
It sucked honestly. There's barely any story or characterization to give the action any stakes. And also there's way too much bullet proof suits, it's just lame and gay as frick.
everyone walking around with their jacket pulled in front of them like a gay dracula in the middle of a gunfight became almost comedic. Which is the last thing you want in an action scene like that
have a nice day. Part 4 had the best Nunchuck fight scene I have ever seen in a movie. Absolutely incredible innovation in fight scenes in this movie.
The Dragon's Breath ammo for the shotgun shooting fight scene, with the top down camera is a first in cinema. This movie is the best of the best for action films. It will never be topped.
I’ve looked around and never noticed anyone pointing out how in JW4 he literally goes through every circle of Dante’s Inferno.
The movie starts with Fishburne quoting the gates of Hell (“All hope Abandon…”)
Japanese hotel: Lust
Nightclub with the water: Gluttony
Molten metal pot: Greed
Can’t remember anger but it was there. I think it was when they were on a River since circle 5 is where Styx is if memory serves.
Fight in cars in Paris streets: City of Dis.
Dragons Breath Incendiary ammo firefight: the fire that rains on Sodomites in circle 7.
Getting pushed back down the stairs over and over: Fraud/Malebolge where demons force people down into pits in circle 8.
The final confrontation with the big bad: Treachery, circle 9, where Satan is.
Then it ends with a vision of Heaven and John’s beloved, like the Divine Comedy.
4 is great and it is a lot of fanwank and they did overuse the suits but it’s still a great martial arts movie overall. Too bad Hollywood wants to copy the premise and think that’s what make JW good and not hiring a bunch of stunt and martial arts pros and letting them do what they do best.
> THEY WAFFLE STOMPED MY HECKIN DOGGERINO!!!1! > LE SECRET SOCIETY OF BADASSES > BASED BLACK MAN AT HOTEL > LE RUSSIANS ARE BAD
reddit-tier action movie.
I accidentally clicked on the wiki and had the fact John Wick dies ruined for me. Almost as bad as when my ex gf and I were on our way to go see The Departed and an idiot friend we had told us how shocked he was when Leo gets shot/killed in the elevator (I punched him and left a big bruise on his shoulder he cried about for a week).
One of the very few movies I walked out of.
After he was hit by 3 cars full speed and just walked it off, I lost all interest in the movie because it was obvious nothing mattered. Completely lost its way from the first movie
John Wick was legitimately good, John Wick 2, 3 and 4 have all been bad. The issue is that israelites took over a franchise that was about action with some mystique and turned it into israeli drama about secret club rules with a sprinkling of action.
I've never played a video game where there was 100 years of talking about boring shit and only 3 short bad action sequences in the whole movie. I don't play Sony games so I wouldn't know anything about israeli movies.
>I've never played a video game where there was 100 years of talking about boring shit
Try a David Cage game, or most "muh cinematic storytelling" games that have come out in the past 10 years
I unironically had a blast watching this in the theater with some friends. The audience seemed to be really into it too. That hotline Miami scene with the one shot was so kino I literally almost had to yell "KINO" after.
JW4 is a weird litmus test. I don't know what kind of "turn your brain off" "whoa dood action" attitude you needed to enjoy this film, but I was thoroughly bored for the entire runtime. John Wick was a moderately good action movie, but the sequels are exhausting stunt exhibitions. They're barely even movies. There's no real drama or tension, everything seems like a video game cut scene with an invincible hero against a bunch of cardboard cutout goons.
Commando had a clear goal (rescue his daughter) and the action wasn't repetitive. There weren't enemies standing and waiting in line to get their ass kicked, attacking one at a time. He was a believable military expert and the Arnold one liners are classic. John Wick the original is a revenge story about his wife, and what the puppy meant to him. I don't know what the sequels are about. John running away from this mysterious assassin syndicate, fighting his way out, running away again... what the frick is he trying to do? Just not die? We know he won't die, because then they couldn't cash in on John Wick 5.
JW2: Some of John's debts that had been forgiven due to his retirement get called due because he took up guns again. Shit spirals until it gets him excommunicated.
JW3: John tries to undo his excommunication and remove the deathmark placed on him
JW4: Same as JW3, except this time it isn't nonsense and John repeatedly acting like a moron
>John tries to undo his excommunication >"guys seriously, stop trying to kill me"
The sequels have no plot. And the action isn't fun to watch. Commando I got to see Arnold gunning people down with a machine gun and tactical explosives. I don't want to watch 60 year old Keanu rolling around pretending to do jiu jitsu with CGI headshots and a bulletproof suit, over and over while the next video game enemy waits his turn.
I unironically had a blast watching this in the theater with some friends. The audience seemed to be really into it too. That hotline Miami scene with the one shot was so kino I literally almost had to yell "KINO" after.
Why don't more action films give as much of a frick as John Wick does when it comes to choreography and camera work? You never really struggle to follow the action because of that fact.
Ambition *and* ability are harder to pair up than you'd think
Like whenever you see some shitty direct to VOD JW knockoff, it's not because those people actually want to make something that sucks. They're just not good enough and don't have the pieces the Wick movies had to work with.
This but unironically. They're fun, simple as. I wouldn't ever come close to consider them peak cinema but as far as action movies go they're like a fricking Kubrick film. Incredibly competent art style, choreography, and cinematography. The story and acting is so secondary in a film like this.
Based. John wick kino will always top all capeshit all startrek shit all game of thrones shit all lotr shit. everything. I'm so glad wick filters so many redditBlack folk on this board
Based. Some people really genuinely think these movies are meant to be taking seriously. Like you're supposed to believe everything happening in it is realistic and deep. I don't think the people working on it have ever had that idea except for MAYBE the first one. They're pure action schlock and they know it, they just do it better than everyone else. There is 20x the talent and hard work in a John Wick action scene than there is in an entire capeshit film.
John Wick's enjoyability is inverse proportional to how much the movies take their own lore seriously and how it's used as a plot device versus a plot crowbar. By the time you get to the TV show it's so stupid and convenient it's not worth taking seriously
Nah, it was honestly really bad. All the John Wick movies are silly in a way, but JW4 was just plain stupid.
Mission Impossible is still the superior modern aaction film franchise.
I like The Continental.

Weakest movie of the series. Extraction 2 also majorly sucked, much more than this even. Bad year for action flicks.
have a nice day. Part 4 had the best Nunchuck fight scene I have ever seen in a movie. Absolutely incredible innovation in fight scenes in this movie.

Yikes. Movie drags and violence is weightless.
You have ADHD, and are also beta cuck
Shut the frick up, fattie.
>fattie
Yeah nah. Your turn.
>This movie is the best of the best for action films. It will never be topped.
It didin't top The Raid 2 for me, but I did really like it
nah, 4 was getting so indulgent it almost became a parody of itself, some of those scenes lasted way beyond their welcome
2>1>4>3
>4 was getting so indulgent it almost became a parody of itself
Yeah, as it should be
all of the movies seem like parodies if you aren't mentally moronic
these movies are too over the top for me
true, it really doesn't get any better than this.
I’ve looked around and never noticed anyone pointing out how in JW4 he literally goes through every circle of Dante’s Inferno.

I should have said “figuratively” or “symbolically”, not literally. But you guys get the point.
>Japanese hotel: Lust
There were a lot of metaphors for wind in the Japanese hotel scene. Wind was the torture in circle 2, Lust.
The fact that there was a hot chick present just made it all the more obvious.
Circle 3, the big boss was a giant fat guy, and Wick started out surrounded by 3 people who wanted him dead, a metaphor for the 3 heads of Cerberus.
The water washing down over everyone in the club just made it even more obvious; cold rain falls on the people in circle 3.
that's not the raid 2 or mad max fury road
1 > 3 > 4 > 2
>omg DUDE a dog bit that guy's nuts AGAIN LOOOOOOL
true this was peak anyone saying anything else is coping
It peaked with a "A Better Tomorrow."
4 > 3 > 2 > 1
only plebs disagree
2>1>3>4
That is the correct order.
yup. movies kept getting better in quality with each installment. anything else is contrarian cope.
Actual moron taste. Unironically requires below average intelligence to enjoy any of the sequels

Like the other two sequels, it’s like watching someone play a fricking video game. Except this one was four hours for some reason. Absolute swill.
I couldn’t even watch this on a plane, it was so god damn boring
1 > 4 > 2 > 3
yer goshdarn right
>well John, I guess you’re gonna have to kill a bunch of people once again

I unironically thought this and the enjoyed the movie for this reason. I am a based black man enjoyer and I am not ashamed
John Wick is overrated, there's no tension at all. You never worry about the main character because no matter what happens he will win.
Except for the first one
>Commando is bad because Bennet is a dumpy fat guy in a mesh shirt who has zero chance of beating Arnie
Go be a contrarian pseud elsewhere
Reddit opinion.
Also FTFY

2 was so forgettable I didn't watch the rest. 1 was a refreshing movie when it came out. Short and sweet.
John Wick was legitimately good, John Wick 2, 3 and 4 have all been bad. The issue is that israelites took over a franchise that was about action with some mystique and turned it into israeli drama about secret club rules with a sprinkling of action.

my quick and dirty edit before someone else does it
That's fricked up because she's not even like that. But your filename checks out for the seethe.

paw-lish. Not Pole-ish
>ackshully
Nah, you're clearly some kind of salty foreigner who likes to spam BLACKED because you're obsessed with Americans and Black persondicks
None of the john wick sequels are good
The action in this was fricking terrible outside of the dragons breath scene
You watched it wrong. If you see it as a "video game movie" - that is, a movie trying to imitate video games - it's much easier to suspend disbelief
I've never played a video game where there was 100 years of talking about boring shit and only 3 short bad action sequences in the whole movie. I don't play Sony games so I wouldn't know anything about israeli movies.

No, I don't want to try those they're trash. Detroit: Become Human was a hilarious title though because blacks can never become human
Yeah. That joke was funny the first 600-ish times I saw it posted.
I don't care about disbelief it was just boring as shit. John wick 2 was ridiculous but it was still good and fun to watch
Imagine having a BLACKED photo saved on your computer....
The hotline miami scene sucks ass
It was the best part of the movie. Fricking kino.
nah. boring as hell, specially for the ritalin generation that grew up with superheroes moronic shit.

Have you never seen commando? Sometimes all you need is a guy running about blasting homies for 2 hours
Commando had a clear goal (rescue his daughter) and the action wasn't repetitive. There weren't enemies standing and waiting in line to get their ass kicked, attacking one at a time. Yeah...about that...
4 is not even the best john wick movie, though this scene might be the best single set piece in the series.
I unironically had a blast watching this in the theater with some friends. The audience seemed to be really into it too. That hotline Miami scene with the one shot was so kino I literally almost had to yell "KINO" after.
